This is our second visit. It's a new restaurant, with a modern vibe run by an attentive friendly lady. The food is astounding, I don't say this lightly and I mean it. The crab starter is a delight and on finishing it, you experience that sense of loss you receive after completing a good book or when the credits roll on the last episode of that amazing box set. The steaks are delicious, the sauce it arrives with is perfect. If you like chips, you will love the chips, if you don't like chips you will learn why people love chips. The fish with crushed potatoes is light and quite perfect. We had three deserts between two all of them wonderful. The cocktail menu is short but adventurous and the owner manager Jerry is a lovely host, you're not just in her restaurant, you're in her home and you're an important guest. The beer selection is interesting, but in a good way you will want to come back. We did, it took us two trains to get here and we lived every minute. I love this restaurant, if you're nearby, go. If you're not nearby, put in some effort and go. On both occasions we've been here it has been early evening. It fills up around 7:30. The food is excellent, good restaurants can turn out an outstanding dish, it's a rare restaurant that can deliver several outstanding dishes and everything I've eaten here has been superb. I really can't recommend it enough.
It's a solid 5 star place and I don't give away that fifth star easily. read more
