Looks like a pub from the outside and when you walk in there doesn't seem to be many tables, but…read morethere's actually an open terrace out back. So you have the option of sitting indoors or outdoors. They seem to get pretty busy though, so you have to be proactive if you want service or asking for the bill even. This place was one of our best meals during our Italian trip, if a little heavy. My favorites were the Tagliolini Asparagi Funghi Porcini Tartufo e Salsiccia (read: Taglierini with asparagus, porcini mushrooms, truffles & sausage meat pieces) and the Ravioli di Ricotta con Crema di Tartufo e Noci (Ricotta & spinach ravioli with nuts & truffle sauce). The latter only came with 3 large ravioli, but it was the best spinach and ricotta ravioli I'd had. Both dishes came laden with sauce, which were really good, but by the end I had to start scraping it off to the side because it's pretty heavy, rich, and oily. The side of veg I ordered, on the other hand, was a complete disappointment. Completely bland mush of what used to be romanesco broccoli. The menu is entirely in Italian, but if you're obviously foreign, the server will likely ask if you need him to translate. The translation will be basic, but it will give you a good idea of the ingredients. I think prices are really fair for what you get. And although communication will be a bit stilted if you don't speak much Italian, we survived (though we didn't think so when we first walked in!). We went during the beginning of lunch and the two servers were too busy constantly rushing to-and-fro to really pay attention to anyone, even to take money. I saw some people stand quite long at the register waiting to pay. Most people were regulars, and the ones who were most familiar with the staff/proprietor just handed him some cash when they were ready to leave and he just dug out some bills from his pocket as change. I never saw anyone ask for the check as most people just walked up to the counter to find out what they owed. I did, however, ask for the check and was given one without a problem.

We ordered one of their more natural red wines available chilled, and Pane & Olio EVOO, and Salsiccette al Tartufo. The bread was so fresh (baked in house daily), and also came with a spicy olive oil option as well as salt and pepper and a plate to dip. The sausage was the perfect little snacking cup with toothpicks and overall everything went well with our wine. They also gave us the little circular baked crackers to dip in our wine. When we were called we were moved to the main dining area which was adorable. Nearly every table had unique artwork on the surrounding walls. We then ordered more of the same wine, the Bonaccia salad, and the Parmigiana di Melanzane con Ricotta Salata. The salad was SO good. It was perfect with lemon and delicious olive oil dressing and an even mix of lettuce, cooked diced potatoes, olives, octopus, sundried cherry tomatoes. The eggplant was a fantastic texture, not too soft but tender and the cheese on it was immaculate. We were too full for dessert but the waiter offered us free limoncello shots as a night cap. My favorite part of this spot was how fun and kind the staff were to us. Letting me practice my Italian, giving great recommendations and overall being super accomodating. I'd love to come back.

Still busy for lunch and at first there weren't any outdoor tables but somehow one became available right after we arrived. Smaller interior with sectioned dining areas and a good sized outdoor eating area. Our server recommended the Buffalo Ricotta cheese with honey truffle-wow! It was exquisite-so light with honey truffle taking it over the top. They ran out of their Rose so we went with the recommended Red-Monica de Sardegna (delicate/spicy- Sardinian) For main, despite many enticing options, we ordered Lasagna Funghi and the Ricotta Ravioli stuffed with artichokes with Cacio Pepe cream. The lasagna was like no other we've had before -must try! The Ravioli was decadent and creamy-delicious! We were talked into the fresh Panna Cotta for dessert-simple, fruity and light -just right with our espresso and milk. Our server, Anna, took great care of us-kind and patiently provided recommendations and menu option details. One of the top restaurants in the Monti area and not to be missed!

This place was so incredible, we went TWICE during our 3 day stay in Rome!…read more We had tried the other "super famous" Italian sandwich spot earlier in our trip and it did NOT deliver. Pane e Salame, however, was delicious!!!! On our first day in Rome, my husband and I decided to search for a lunch spot nearby (we were staying near the Trevi fountain), and I found this place had pretty good reviews. We got there about an hour after it opened and requested a seat outdoors. They have a tiny patio across from their entrance, but they fit quite a bit of people in it! We initially wanted to order two sandwiches to try more items, but I'm glad we just shared one - they were big and filling! We also had the small charcuterie board to share which was plenty of food for us both. We shared a bottle of rose, and all in all, we paid under $50 (usd) - what a steal! This was the perfect first meal in Rome. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was great, and the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the streets of Rome. 10/10 - would absolutely go back.

Our sandwiches were cut in half and one half was big enough to make the average person full. We got five sandwiches for only about €30! The place was not a tourist trap, but i have to say, the seats at the booth were uncomfortable to me, and the place was a bit small. Sorry i do not have photos. But overall, I would recommend to go here.
