The racks are filled with cute but on-trend pieces, with plenty of quirky dresses, summer maxis and simple tops. Half my wardrobe probably comes from here now because it's such an easy shop to pop into on a lunch-break. (Damn you city stores and your tempting merchandise!) The prices are generally pretty good, and there are a few permanent sale racks down the back. Shopaholics beware. Go check it out, but don't say I didn't warn you...

Suddenly the huddled masses could afford stuff the Hiltons were wearing, oh happy day! Sportsgirl remains a hugely popular brand across several demographics, and the Bondi Junction store is the best of the lot. The staff here are really lovely, something I've found amiss in other branches, and the shop is currently themed "American Road Trip" (I think, they don't have a big sign up or anything!)- it was enticing enough for me to wander in when I'm meant to be saving. Sales racks are towards the back and scattered around the edges of the shop, and they stock great accessories as well as clothes you might just see a Hilton in one day.

Sportsgirl employed top designers to re-vamp their wardrobe so to speak. What eventuated was some really great fashion forward designs for affordable prices. It's that great go t store for a cheapie bag to go with a party dress. Going to a music festival and don't want to spend a fortune on shoes that will get trashed, then you can pick some up here that won't break the bank. The designers need to be applauded because as I am not screaming out to people where I got that great maxi from, it does get commented on. A lot! A vibey shop with cute young things at the counter, don't be embarrassed about purchasing a pair of $20 sunnies or some hippy earrings. Everyone's doing it.

The shop assistant certainly gave me that impression when she greeted me with an arched brow and a quick appraisal of my outfit. Happily, I discovered that the prices are actually quite low in this shop, around the $40 mark, but they reflect the quality of the pieces which were largely made of viscose. Also, I'm not sure what demographic the owner of this shop is aiming at. There is the odd nod to teen wear with cut-off T-shirts and lacy black things which the buyer had obviously thought "hmm, semi-naked, that's what young people like right?" But this idea is juxtaposed by putting dresses and twin sets with mumsy prints and bad colour combinations alongside them. I'd be impressed if anyone found something flattering in here. Maybe I'm being too scathing, but I just found myself a little confused in here.

Cons No greeting on entry…read more Staff walking through don't offer help. More concerned about their conversation than customers. Pros Clothing super cute. Great range of colours and patterns. Very mid-20th century focused. Size 16 can suit larger 16. It's definitely a reactive staff experience which does tend to be a theme in Australian retail stores. Probably doesn't help that it's a national holiday weekend either.

WOW! what an astonishing experience, I found myself wandering aimlessly around Newtown the other…read moreday and stumbled across this whimsical looking boutique. My eye was caught initially by the fantastical window display being painted by an afro wielding staff member. Every aspect of the shop was both quirky and feminine... From the carefully thought out visual merchandising to the smooth Jazz soundtrack. I spent some time in here trying on things and perusing the racks with the attentive help of two beautiful and charismatic sales assistants. Both I will add, impeccably dressed from head to toe. The designs are unique with a nod to bygone eras. The designer has obviously thought about the modern woman with styles and cuts suitable for a myriad of body types. The boutique also has an extensive collection of shoes and accessories to finish of the look. I left with a bundle of frocks in hand, a smile on my face and a rekindled love for Newtown and all it's quirkiness.

The flagship boutique on Oxford Street is home to a collection of luxe cashmere, premium denim, casual wear and accessories labels out of the US. Ever heard of J-Brand, Vince or Kate Spade? Well this is where you'll find it on our shores. The style here is effortless casual with a touch of trend to liven things up. There is a big price bracket at Pink Zebra with some pieces $400 and some pieces $50 - it depends on the label (oh, and if it is cashmere). Pink Zebra is a great find for a unique everyday piece.

Step inside though and you'll find it widens out at the back to exhibit a beautiful range of American designer clothes. Most of the pieces are quite expensive, even when on sale, but you know that they'll last. The assistants are friendly, gorgeous and very stylishly, perfect advertisements for the shop, while the decor is young and funky with lots of bright colours and wall displays.

Not everything in the store is to my taste, but if you look hard enough you'll find some really great, unique pieces to add to your work wardrobe.
