Brides & grooms beware! I don't think I've ever written a negative review in my life, but I hope my cautionary tale might save someone else from having a similar experience. Eric was referred to me by a wedding planner, which I mistakenly assumed meant he was legit. He's not. I picked his most expensive wedding "Gold" package for him and an assistant photographer to travel to and photograph my destination island wedding. Shortly after signing the agreement and paying the retainer, Eric reached out and asked me to please pay the FULL contract amount ASAP .... so he could buy a camera. (!!) That probably should have been a bigger red flag, but I paid the whole amount, including the costs of both photographers' travel to the island. Sometime later, he told us his photography partner passed away and he was going to find another assistant to help with my wedding. My fiancé's and my hearts ached for him, and we offered our sincere condolences. Our wedding was several months away at that time, and he said he still wanted to do it, he had other assistants, and not to worry. As the wedding got closer, he said all his assistants were booked, but not to worry, he'd have one lined-up beforehand. Then, just two weeks before my wedding, he became a monster. 14 days before we set sail with 87 guests, Eric told us he wasn't bringing a second photographer. He brazenly claimed he had *never* agreed to have a second photographer. He repeatedly declared: "The contract is for one person!" -- despite the fact that was so obviously false. I was shocked. At one point I asked: "if the contract was for only one person, why does it say I have to pay for both him *and his assistant's* travel and lodging?" He responded: "the contract is for one person!!! I will do it all myself!! I'm the best there is!!" and various crazed iterations of the same. Then, in a delusional "I am the boss of this wedding" manner, Eric made up a whole new wedding schedule that he thought he could do solo and said we had to do it. (!!!) He kept saying something like: this is what you get! this is how I always do it! I've done this hundreds of times! The contract has always been for one person!!! I am all you need! In addition to lying about what the agreement documents said, he also lied about our wedding planner. He told us that she had approved this a while ago (she had no idea), that she agreed (she did not), and implied they were in cahoots (they were not). We didn't know what to do. This wasn't what we'd planned, this wasn't what we wanted, and this wasn't what I paid for. . . and he was actually scaring me. But, I didn't know if it was even possible to hire another photographer in time, and I'd already paid him everything. After some serious tears, my fiancé and I called, emailed, and/or messaged almost every single wedding photographer who's website suggested they might do weddings on the island, and asked if they were available in two weeks. A dozen straight hours of trying later, I was basically just begging anyone for help. . . (Angels must have heard my cries, because an absolute saint of an island photographer swooped to save the day.) A few days later, on the eve of wedding week, Eric emailed me to say: "Great news! I found a new assistant, I can totally perform the actual contract now. Sorry for any frustration I caused. I'll be there!" Wtf? He ultimately provided a refund. BEWARE!! There are a lot of great wedding photographers out there, this guy is not one of them. read more

Took a few months after fall out to post a professional honest review. My wedding was back in May 2023 and I had reached out to Eric roughly around November in 2022. He was the second photographer I had spoken to and he was very good on selling his services. Answered all my questions and even helped me set a rough timeline for my wedding day. For a 10 hour service package final price was 3,600. It was a little over budget because we wanted to spend no more than 4-5k for photo and video but we still considered him as he quickly agreed to complete the reach requirements set. But of course my then fiancé and I had to talk it through and work numbers around. Again he was only the second photographer we had spoken and now we should have gotten around more quotes but you live and learn. After a few days he reached back out to me if we were ready to sign the contract and to send over the deposit. This should have been the first red flag! He was becoming more and more pushy as the days went by. Any ways we asked a few more questions about how many cameras because we weren't going to hire an videographer due to our budget and he said "I always have 2 - 3 cameras on me to not to worry he has us covered". Also, during our consultation the package we decided on he offered "complimentary" engagement session which we did not want but said since it was complimentary it could not be deducted so I said okay maybe we can schedule something around Feb. He agreed. I have a feeling he was pressuring us to sign the contract to send over the 50% deposit because it was during the holidays. But I digress. February came and went and he never reached out to make the engagement session appointment and a couple weeks before the wedding I started getting worried he was not going to meet the church requirements to take pictures inside the church. Before signing anything we went over these requirements and he knew what he needed to do to complete such requirements. However, when I reached out like hey do you have everything ready wedding is in a couple of weeks he kept messaging me wait how and where do I do this it's not working. But he then went to see the father and not sure how the conversation went but the father cleared him from doing the requirements. Okay such a relief but very unprofessional having me worry. Fast forward three weeks before the wedding he reached out to us wanted to pay the remaining balance to buy a new camera for our wedding!!!!! To provide a better quality! Like what? So I then reach out to Eric asking him why he had not scheduled my engagement session that it was very unprofessional of him to forget out a paying client a service he provides. Gave me an excuse of being in and out of the hospital but also when I asked why he had not worked on the requirements he gave me another sad excuse of passing. Don't want to sound heartless but everything that went down I don't believe him at this point. So he then tried to fix the situation kind of blaming me and saying there was still time for an engagement session but with only two weekend before the wedding and full time job there was no way for us to schedule last min weekend appointment. So many red flags my fiancé and I were skeptical to give him any more money so we asked for our deposit back since he had violated two of the agreements on the contract and he said I don't de refunds try to give us credit but no way in this universe would we to give him any more time of day. Then I came to yelp which should have been done before hiring him come to find out he needed a new camera less than a year before for another wedding. You can believe me or not but having to different people saying the same reasoning to have the money before hand is not a coincidence! When I confronted him for the yelp review he called her crazy. What a man. Never got the deposit back and he texted me the night before my wedding saying well I haven't heard anything I will assure you do not need my services sorry it didn't work out wish you well like no remorse of what he was hussling us out of. Having a small budget because we don't have just money to be giving away. Overall we were very upset and sad but like my husband says money comes and goes. We had an amazing photographer and videographer at the end with magical pictures. Don't waste your tome and money with him. read more
