I had tried every version I could buy on Amazon and none of them fit. My 9 year old got me into skateboard a few years back. I recently got some decks second hand and needed trucks, bearings, and hardware too. They had everything I needed in stock for almost the same price as online. I was super stoked to get everything same day in their skate shop and also happy I found a helmet that actually fit! Got to take a look inside the park, very excited to try it out with my kids. They are rusty and dangerous because the lips to the ramps are lifted off the ground. Also, the asphalt is not smooth, and there are large cracks running all the way through the park. They also have a community center and shelter accessible from Q Street with plenty of parking. Parking also is available off Brian Lane Way on the west side of the park. The only negative I had was that I found all the fencing around the different sections of the park (tennis, aquatic area, and skate park) made it difficult to reach the other side of the park without driving out and around the neighborhood to the other side. I had an opportunity to help pick up trash at Major Taylor Skatepark, and I jumped at the chance. To my surprise, there wasn't a whole lot of trash to pick up, because the skatepark is relatively clean. I get the feeling that the people who use the skatepark respect it and the people who use it. I saw lots of skaters out that day, from adults to toddlers, using the skatepark and having a good time. If you want to feel happy, just hang out at Major Taylor for a while. It was good to see so many people out on a nice day, being active, getting along, doing something fun together and alone all at once.

It has about 7 structures for shredding including quarter pipes, spines, flat banks, half-pyramids, hips, fly boxes, ledges, and boxes, some of which are put together into some very interesting obstacle combinations. The park's mini ramp is about 6ft. tall and approx. 8ft wide The park has an ample amount of parking spots available and unfortunately is known for severe flooding. Even though the park dates back to 2008, it looks new, because technically it is. It had to be rebuilt a couple of times due to flooding. Thank goodness for insurance. The park is also very well maintained. The obstacles are constructed of ARC-sourced prefab steel. They are very sturdy. It should also be noted that it is not lighted, nor fenced in. They also do not have restroom facilities either. There is a picnic table off to the side of the park to sit and take a break or eat some lunch. I am what you would call a poser in the skate world, but I do know a good skate park when I see it. This is a very good skate park and I like it a lot. This is a destination action park, located in the small town of Franklin, right behind the police department, that I highly recommend checking out if you are looking for a nice place to shred.

Interestingly enough, they have a skate park here, which I thought was neat. The playground is also nice, but a bunch of the slides are made of metal. The walking trails are also quite nice as well. The main reason that I come here for is the disc golf course. Although I've only done two courses, that being this and the one at Cumberland Park at the time of writing, so I still haven't been to many courses. The front 9 are really nice, as 4 holes wrap around a lake, and 3 are in a wooded area. The back 9 are in a mostly open area, and there's a creek that runs alongside a couple holes. The landscaping in that part of the course could use some attention. However, it's still a nice park to visit. Also, the lake and creek can 'eat' your disc if you aren't aware.

There…read moreis a nice calm 3 acre lake in the park with picnic tables and picnic shelters with tables under them and grills just outside of them. Fishing is allowed in the lake, but with limits. You will definitely need a fishing license to fish here. With every nature park, there is some green space to play filed activities such as soccer, football, catch, kite flying or other activities. This park is no exception. There is a decent amount of green space by the playground area. Some of the shelters are in desperate need of repair though. A couple has sections of the roof collapsing in. There is a small playground at this park with older traditional equipment laid on a wood chip bed. Some of the playground equipment includes a some traditional and toddler swings, A tall spiral slide, a decent sized jungle gym with slides, a see-saw, and a large truck tire. It has benches and picnic tables on the perimeter of the area where parents can sit and watch their littles. There are a couple of small accessible piers on the lake that you can walk out on. They do not go too deep into the lake. I would say about 10 to 15 feet from shore. You will find a nature center and Native American Museum here at the park, along with some awesome wooded trails. It you are not feeling adventurous and are intimidated by the wood trail, you can just walk around the lake. I saw a bunch of people doing that while I was there. Additionally, there is a nice bike/running trail that goes past the front of the park. All in all, there are approximately 3 miles of trails which will take you past restored wetlands, through pine woods, old growth and second growth forest as well as a 25 acre State Nature Preserve. With visits to the Nature Center, native American Museum, Lake, playground and trails, you could easily spend a half a day or more here. I wish that the playground area was a little bit more robust, but it will do. This park has a peaceful vibe and is very relaxing. It is a destination park and hopefully you will get to visit it in the near future.
