She was unresponsive, and frequently disregarded our directions. I would ask her why she was including things we hadn't authorized in settlement offers, and was told that she thought it would be helpful, except she didn't run it past us first and when it was past time to play hardball she was still throwing underhand pitches. The concern was that she was always being 'helpful' to the other sides lawyer. Like they would blow past deadlines we had presented them with and our lawyer would constantly make excuses for them. Honestly I felt like I was battling our lawyer just as much as theirs. Communication was terrible and I cannot stress how many follow up emails I had to send to get a simple response. In the end it felt like I was essentially paying them just for the use of their letterhead, as in the end the lawsuit was resolved four months later than it should have been, and only because I literally had to write the emails I wanted her to send and make sure to proofread them before she sent them to make sure she hadn't changed anything. If I had to listen one more time as she told me I needed to understand that their lawyer blew a deadline because he was on vacation or because his email wasn't working I would have lost my mind. Lawyers are expensive and lawsuits aren't guaranteed. But getting charged hard by a lawyer who isn't doing their job unless you ride them endlessly, and being charged for rewriting documents when they added things you told them not, just grinds on me.
