Staff are friendly and fairly knowledgeable about business background... first time we'd been in there so asked a few questions. (in the words of Lee Evans) The baker always says 'cheers, ta' once you have paid and it has always stuck in my head because it sounds like he really means it. So when I entered Forfars bakery on exactly this level of sweet mode, It was a very ungratifying smell that greeted me. The smell was overwhelmingly of cheesy, savoury baked goods, which kinda messed up my senses, and possibly my brain functioning, momentarily. Once though I overcame this, I ordered a bakewell tart for 85p and gobbled this little treat in no time at all. It was pretty tasty and not too dry, with a decent bit of cherry in the middle, so that was all good. But to be honest I was still a little in shock by the cheesy smell I had encountered. It wasn't a bad smell, just overwhelming and I think they should consider how it marginalised and makes the sweet eating community feel when they enter the shop. Every single time there is a different pastry to try (or so it seems), along with cakes, sausage rolls (normal or spicy), chocolate, macrons (so many varieties - my favourite being salted caramel) and the most amazing different kinds of bread. Everything he sells is made the morning before the bakery opens and there is a limited amount. Once it's sold out its sold out! There are a few small tables and a sofa and it can get quite busy at the weekends. The guy who runs the place is very nice, as is all the staff. We love to sit down, order food and drinks, relax then take home tons of stuff to eat throughout the day! X
