We arrived shortly before 1 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024, and left the next day after 5 PM. The first medical person who took her vitals confirmed she needed to be evaluated by a psychiatrist. However, in the 28 hours we were there, she wasn't seen by any psychiatric or neurological staff. She slept very little and was only fed once, requiring me to leave the hospital twice to buy her meals. They focused on a pre-existing lung condition, which was not the reason for her visit and was already known to her primary care physician. Initially, we thought a new opinion could be beneficial while waiting for the psychiatrist. However, after 20 hours, she was advised to consult her primary care physician about her lungs. Despite repeated promises that a psychiatrist would see her soon, we left without notice. This was the closest to third-world operations and service I have witnessed on US soil, and in some cases, perhaps worse. Among other anomalies, security guards played a significant role inside the emergency room, interacting more with us than medical personnel. I also noticed disparities in patient care, with some patients receiving more attention to their comfort than others. My sister received none; our concerns were promptly ignored without explanation. I am continuing with the formal complaint process through all available avenues, as I am sure invoices will be processed for essentially no treatment. In retrospect, despite our DIY crisis control, San Lucas Hospital Emergency Room resembled an entertaining incompetent spectacle.

Centro Medico Episcopal San Lucas - This must be the WiFi hang out spot and not a hospital. They do have a crappie coffee vending machine. Watch out Starbucks!

Vital-Care, Aibonito April 19, 2016…read more Visited Vital-Care and found the place easy to locate by using their pin on their FB page and Google maps. We are NOT patients of Vital-Care and our opinions do not have any impact on the doctors onsite. These are purely observations. The place is located on a busy street which gives it maximum exposure to clients/vendors/patients. There are several parking spaces in front of the practice and the owners have plans to add more parking as their practice continues to grow. The waiting area is comfortable and airy with nice chairs, AC, magazines and a big flat screen TV. The staff is nice and professional. We were privileged to receive a personal tour from the owners. The offices are clean, organized, and airy. The owners have great big plans to continue to expand their presence in the town of Aibonito. Currently, Vital-Care offers general medicine, house visits, pick up service to Medicaid/Medicare patients, approved to provide medical services to VA patients. Vital-Care just added a gastroenterologist to their practice which sees/treats patients Wednesdays and Saturdays by appointment only. The owners plan to extend the gastroenterologist services to more days soon. In addition they also offer messages and reiki by appointment. Vital-Care has high-end equipment with the latest technology and advances by far surpassing most practices within the region. Big things are coming soon to Vital-Care and Aibonito!!

This is a pain management clinic. The wait may be a little long, but here's my story: I've had 2…read morelaminectomies for lumbar spinal stenosis and herniated discs, since I have degenerative disc disease. I've had this since I was 16 years old. After the surgeries, every year and a half or so I get a pain crisis that sometimes responds to anti-inflammatory injections, but sometimes not. Regular nerve blocks somehow don't work for me too well. This doctor is my hope. The Radiofrequency Ablation procedure for pain blocking is uncomfortable, but IT WORKS. He first injects all levels that need to be worked on with a local anesthetic (Lidocaine). Then he inserts one needle for each disk level (not on the very disk, but close to the affected nerves) and he then connects those needles to a radiofrequency waves machine, that will help block the pain signals, which is basically what meds do, minus the damage to your organs, and it's more effective and has more long lasting effects. I've had this done only with this doctor about 3 to 4 times and the results last for over a year -- meaning a year or more with no pills or anything. The trip there is a little funky, since the clinic is in the heart of Aibonito (lots of winding roads to get there) and you need a designated driver after the procedure, which normally means you have to block the entire day just for that, but as I mentioned, it really works. The doc performs other procedures for spinal cord stimulation through devices that he surgically inserts in the body, but I've only had the radiofrequency nerve ablation. By the way, the doctor is an anesthesiologist and also a surgeon.
