This was probably our 10th Port wine tour since we have been in Porto and the Douro valley on this trip and is definitely my favorite one to date. First off, Graham is arguably one of the top/best Port producers which is a prime consideration to going on this tour. Although not the oldest Port wine producer it still has a long and illustrious history with a very interesting Family storyline to tell which this winery does a very good job of doing and adds a nice element to the tour experience. Relative to the tour itself, it starts in a large waiting area that has pictures and placards that give you a nice overview of their history which I found very interesting. From there you move into a small theater to watch a 10. minute film that is focused on the modern operation where the focus is vineyard, land and people related that gives you an appreciation of the Graham operation and how the workers who have long relationship with the company and are viewed as part of Grahams extended family. Once the film ends the tour moves into the barrel room which is flat out amazing. It is very large and impressive where I have not seen another Barrel room that really compares to this and was the highlight of this tour and to be honest with you the highlight of my vacation in Porto. While in the barrel room the tour goes over the types of Ports Grahams make, unique things they do in making their wines and more in depth discussion surrounding the land, grapes they use, the harvest and eventual bottling. fairly thorough and definitely informative and entertaining if you are into wine as I am and have a desire to learn about wine in general. lastly you end up in the tasting room sampling some of their wines where the selection we had in our flight did not disappoint Overall a very very good experience and one that should be at the very top of your list of things to see and do while in Porto. You will absolutely not be disappointed.

Well worth the trek! Located in Vila Nova de Gaia, we actually walked here after having a drink or two at Sandeman. Looking back, we maybe should have grabbed a taxi, but the walk wasn't too bad. This was our day to explore the famous wine houses in the area, and Graham's was our second stop. We ordered a few small snacks and a bottle, enjoying the atmosphere/ambience. This was probably my favorite stop in Vila Nova de Gaia. Though slightly out of the way, I'd definitely recommend stopping in here. The views are unrivaled.

Stopped in there today for a couple tasting and we were not disappointed! Actually Grahams port has been our favorite for years, to see the connection to family and friendship made it even more memorable, the tasting was off the charts, we ended up getting a 40 year Tawny which we will look forward too in the future to enjoy with friends. What a great location and perfect views

A great experience not to be missed. The cultivation and production of port is considerably different from that of other wines. So if you've been on a winery tour and say "been there, done that", don't do that. You'll miss out on a very pleasant experience and an opportunity to taste some very fine ports. My tour guide was very good. Lunch at the Vinum restaurant was absolutely great. One tip: Uber there. I would imagine that walking there from central Porto is near impossible. Easy to get there, but be very specific about the pickup point on your return. Enjoy!

This is a beautiful port winery, a bit further away from the other port producer facilities and a bit further to walk but totally worth it. Once you reach Graham's, they have a beautiful restaurant, terrace bar and shop, I recommend having a drink on the terrace and enjoying the view before your tour. You do need to reserve a tour in advance, a tour with classic tasting of 3 port varieties is 17 euro. The guide was very informative and explained the history of Grahams's and the port production process. The tasting room was also beautiful and they offer cheese or chocolate which you can purchase to go with your tasting and any additional port you wish to try.

Walking up the huge hill to this place... should have taken a bus!! Was it worth it? Maybe... the port itself is good and learned a little history. Opted not to do the tour, so taken through quickly to the tasting area. They give you the port and a quick description and disappear. The tasting area was nice but felt a little sterile. Not sure what it was... After the tasting find your way into the gift shop... which is right next to the restaurant. Then make your way back down the hill.... on your way down you'll reach Churchill's... which also has an affiliation with the Graham family-- very interesting-- I'll leave you to figure that out on your own ;)

We just happened to run into this place while sightseeing and browsing at little shops for…read moresouvenirs to take home. I wanted to get some great ports and received lots of requests from friends for port wines from Portugal too. My needs were met and more. Soares has so many port wines (Taylor's, Barros, Graham's, Dow's, etc.) and many others to select from. I was able to score a Barros Colheita 2010 at a very reasonable price. The staff were so nice and friendly. They explained how port wines are made and the differences in the harvest, colors and processes. For example, Colheita is the specific harvest of that year. No mixing of grapes. Tawny Port is aged for much longer than its Ruby counterpart. It's also aged using oak barrels, which gives it a very different flavor profile (smooth and refined) and is brown in color. Ruby port is fuller and more fruity. I just love port wines especially if they're made in Portugal.

I did the premium Port tasting and received a great introduction into these wines, which I'd never tried and did not know much about. I was also the only one there, which was fantastic. And, they have snacks. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. And, they carry my all-time favorite Portuguese wine, the Conde Villar Vinho Verde Rosé. I nearly cried because I love this wine so much. They don't ship to the states, unfortunately, so I bought as much as I could carry. If you are looking to do a Port tasting without walking across the river or just want a great place to buy some wines, I highly recommend Garrafeira Soares.
