HOLY!! My friend and I went here in search of something to drink, and we found much more than we could have thought. They have spices, pasta and baking products available in bulk, on the cheap. I actually found alphabet noodles. Alphabet noodles! The kind I've only seen in Chef Boyardee or Campbell's Soup! Now, thanks to this store, I'm having my very own homemade alphabet soup for lunch. And the best part? It's only $1.99 a pound! I got 1.06 lbs for about $1.20. It's too bad for my friend though, I'm making her stop here every time she's in the area to pick me up some of those noodles. read more

Great little grocery store. Best thing about it is they carry, home made by Amash, spices, pastas and baking products. We love these products made by the Amash and try to stock up when ever we can. read more

Site was filmed in the movie Witness but they have renovated since. Amish shop here so if you park in the back where the hardware store you will "witness" many Amish. read more

History

Established in 1909.

In 1909, Ezra Zimmerman had a farm one mile north of Intercourse. One of his sons, Willis, did not want to be a farmer. His father visited the store one day to use the telephone (at the time, it was the only one in town) seeking a business to purchase for his son. The storeowner heard his conversation and said he was willing to sell his business. The result was a family business that has now spanned five generations!

Kristine Shirk is the fifth generation owner of W. L. Zimmerman & Sons, Inc. She's loved working with both the employees and customers over the years and continues to look forward to many more years to come.
