Recently moved to Conway South Carolina with my 2 cats Joey and Bentley. Needed to find a vet for routine healthcare as well as when there's a problem. So both of my cats have always been very large boys. They're both alpha males and tend to fight. All of a sudden out of nowhere Bentley started losing weight, Which worried me terribly. I called to make an appointment and explain the situation and they got Bentley in an ambentley in in a matter of a week. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming as I entered the facility. Bentley had a very thorough check out although I had to leave him there for a year and test because you're in test because his bladder was empty And they couldn't get a sample. Come to find out my little baby here was stressed ostressed out most likely do to the 14 hour drive and living in hotels for 3 months while my home was being Built-in Conway. Bentley was given a couple prescriptions and is doing very well. I look forward to a long term relationship with this veterinarian for both my kitties. The worst staff. The girls at the front desk show no joy on the job, especially towards our pets. The manager is very impersonable. The first vet who saw my pet was fired on the spot for nasty things she said to me. The next vet, who looks like she is sixteen, basically lectured me for trying to do everything I could to save my dog. These are not nice people and very unprofessional. read more

Been going here almost 5 years. Never minded that wait times can be lengthy or that every time we go it's at least $150-$350. (we visit about 4x a year average). But this new veterinarian (I don't know her name, she doesn't introduce herself) I DO NOT recommend. I understand that quality care is costly but the care at this Vet office is no longer quality. The vet was low key rude to us, definitely judged us, had ample opportunity to provide education when I asked questions but instead my husband I felt judged. She said she would come back and explain everything after cytology came back. She did not bother, the vet tech instead gave us the results and treatment plan. So with that said, find a different vet, do not recommend, this vet just doesn't care about ensuring a good experience. (oh and small nit pick, but why was the water bowl in the waiting room for the animals dry yesterday????). read more

I came to this Veterinary Services as I was new to the region and just adopted a shelter dog...the services provided in this office were okay, the wait time was acceptable, the fees were okay too?...The question I had was to email me X-Rays, as the Vet recommended - insisted via office staff to extract one of Front / next to Canine teeth during routine teeth cleaning under anesthesia ...All I needed to confirm that there was an active Infection/ the dog was in pain to see X-Ray ...The X-Ray was emailed to me finally, I saw No Infection, the dog was NOT in pain per staff in office...Now they claim that I did NOT trust them, therefore my dog was dismissed from their office, without proper notice. This office is only caring about $$$$, not the animals they service. They refuse to let / estimate how much procedures / extractions are. Not everybody has unlimited $$$$. read more

Was a first time customer with a 3 month old puppy. Let's just say coming from the medical field (NP), this visit was absolutely appalling. I was there to establish care and have some concerns addressed. First question we received from the vet tech was regarding which vaccines, heart guard, etc we wanted. My response was I do not want any of those right now. Her immediate response was "well then why are you here?" I kid you not!! Not - do you have any concerns or questions regarding your new puppy or how can we help you today, nothing! I explained I don't agree with all these vaccines because of all the information now coming out on serious adverse effects from them. I did request a thimerosal (mercury) free rabies vaccine and information on neutering my puppy. Next the vet came in. No introduction, no how are you, no do you have any concerns, questions, nothing!! Just an absolute miserable attitude because we declined the vaccines! She then proceeded to tell us quite sternly "It is illegal to not vaccinate your animal for rabies." I told her I do want the rabies vaccine but a specific one. I was requesting a thimerosal free vaccine for safety concerns. Her response was "They don't make thimerosal free rabies vaccines". (Imrab rabies vaccine is thimerosal free & there are a few others). I disagreed and told her we were willing to pay whatever it took to get the vaccine. She did a quick exam on our puppy (literally maybe 2.5 minutes) and said "So you are just here for an estimate for neutering?" I said we would like that too. I also started to tell her about a few concerns we had with some aggression, questions on how soon we could do the neutering. She said ok, did not answer any of the questions we had and left the room. We did not receive an estimate but instead we were charged $60 for a deworming pill that costs $10 online for the exact same pill!!! We have had many animals and never have I ever seen such an unhappy, rude vet in my life all because I didn't want all the vaccines, drugs they were pushing. All I can say is if I EVER treated my patients like this, I would hope to lose my business & be fired!!! Absolutely unacceptable all because she didn't agree with my requested plan of care and wasn't compliant with the "status quo" or "following the rules". Needless to say, I will never go back there and will ensure I let everyone know the horrible experience I had there!!!! That vet should be ashamed of herself and does not belong in the medical field!! I highly recommend going elsewhere for you loved one's vet needs! FYI, I already have an appointment at Conway Veterinarian Hospital for the Thimerosal free rabies vaccine (because there is such a thing and soooo much safer) as well as neutering estimate of $450 vs $700-$2000 I was quoted by their tech at Waccamaw!!!! read more

If I could do less than a star I would. Negative stars would be the best option. These people are money-grabbers. I went in for my 13-year old dog's skin allergy and ended up being shamed and bullied into multiple tests. I was told my dog was on the brink of death. She needed oral surgery along with back surgery (along with a short list of other "issues" including constant pain, cancer, deafness and almost blindness) telling me she is suffering daily in complete pain and it's amazing she is walking etc. Looking back, it was pretty questionable/convenient that each procedure was $3 grand. To make a *long traumatic experience* short: I went to my original vet (she was booked the day I came here) and another vet for second/third opinions both of whom said these procedures are not necessary and/or the first course of action for a senior dog's quality of life. Dr. Randy's bedside manner and how he speaks to customers is condescending to the point of bullying. Both my mother and I were told that Dr Randy is 'thorough' - a very nice cover for over-testing and over-charging. Literally go anywhere else. read more

I was told he was being muzzled and sedated for fear of his 'agression'. I'm sorry you cant handle animals in your career, but my dog is not aggressive, you're just stupid. charge you out the wazoo for basic needs another vet will do for more than half the price. please take your business else where. they are not worth the cost of this place. Wrong spot time given.. arrived at 3:05pm and one of the white girls at the front desk treated me like scum all because I asked how long we would be waiting... (when I checked back at 3:30pm) .. continued to argue with me... manager claims to have witnessed it but didn't come apologize or try to help the situation at all. Not one person can take accountability for their mistakes and would rather argue with you instead of fixing it. The appt went well with the DR. And Nurse. They took care of our boy. We were there about 3 hours because of the wait. Normally this would be okay, if your doggo doesn't suffer from high functioning anxiety... (which I had emphasized when I made the appt) Was not told that getting a written script requires you to mail it out and wait TWO WEEKS for emergency meds... one thing after another... I had called to speak to the manager about my experience... not only did she raise her voice at me and start arguing with me claiming she watched the whole thing... she said that I HAVE TO accept her apology. I said that I did appreciate that she wanted to apologize, however I don't accept empty apologies from someone who doesn't seem to care about pet parent satisfaction. Adults need to be held accountable for their actions, period. And that shows me that this establishment has zero integrity, and they don't hold their employees to any type of standard. read more

Scheduled appointment on March 27th 2025, earliest date was July 9th. I confirmed several times on. app, and email. Received a call on July 8th asking to change appointment, unfortunately I was not able to due to already changing travel dates to accommodate July 9th. However they said that was fine and to come of. the 9th of July. I left my dog with them at 7:30 am 9n the morning of the 9th. I was told he would be done around d 4pm Received a call at 3:30 stating they never did his procedure or teeth cleaning. Its clear Dr Randy is disingenuous, and because he gets more from extractions left My dog all day without ever performing any procedure, or cleaning. It is clear to me Waccamaw Vet is just not a good place to bring my pet. To be put off for more money extraction on another dog , and to not notify earlier than the 8 hours they had my dog is unacceptable behavior towards my dog, and Myself. Too bad Dr Randy doesn't care unless the Bill exceeds $1,500.00. My appointment was just for $1,200.00 . Even sadder is he Never made the call, he had his office handle the unfortunate news that after 8 hours They never even checked my Dog. This is the worst veterinary experience I have had ever. A new vet was hired last summer. My cat was severely dehydrated and had a bloodshot, injured eye. The vet gave her some fluids and sent her home. She continued to be in pain and not eat, so I took her back. They gave her a fluid pack and said she was dehydrated to the point of death. The vet said they could do nothing for her eye and insisted it wasn't injured, even claiming I hadn't told them the eye was injured on the previous visit a few days prior. But upon insistence, they referred me to a pet eye doctor in Charleston. The eye doctor did an examination and gave me some medication. I took my cat to a new area vet to get another opinion a few days later and they said the eye was injured and administered the proper medication. The new vet listened and assured me the cat would recover and would not need to be removed. This is all to say, I have changed my mind based on the care of the new female vet they have hired. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. Telling someone to put their animal down without going through proper diagnostic procedures and protocol is, simply put, disgusting. We take our animals, who most consider family members, to spaces such as this seeking safety and comfort for both us and our animals. This vet told us our pet had cancer, but didn't provide a true diagnosis, then told us to put our pet down. We then get a second opinion and found out the diagnosis is diabetes and is very treatable and manageable. Had we listened to this veterinary office, our Wally would no longer be with us. This office should be shut down permanently. If you love your pet like a family member, DO NOT bring them to Waccamaw Regional Veterinary Center. read more

My cat was sick for 5 months, and Dr. Randy still couldn't figure out why he had diarrhea, and was itching like crazy. He did a fecal and didn't find anything wrong. We tried different foods, supplements and still nothing. My cat itched his neck so bad, there were scabs all around his neck. Dr. Randy didn't know why.... so we did a very expensive blood test, to see what he was allergic to. We changed food, and still no improvement,,, We went to Kelley Animal Hospital, for a second opinion. The doctor found out in a matter of minutes, that my cat had Giadia. It is a parasite. It is an intestinal infection. The vet looked at my cats neck, saw no fleas and said he is allergic to flea bites. He treated him for fleas and gave us medicine for the Giardia. After wasting over $1,000 at Waccama, my cat is all better. Do not take your cats to Waccama Reginal Vet. read more

Very expensive! Compared meds to online prices. He charged on average about 3 times more. I did use a $1 office visit coupon for new clients. But his normal office visit is a little higher than I have usually paid at other facilities. Wait time was average. Staff very friendly. Not a bad experience but just be prepared to empty your wallet. I just got a "lets make money" feeling about this Vet. It would be nice if there were a balance between making a profit and helping animals and pet parents who not wealthy. read more

I brought my cat Maisie for her first appointment with Dr. Randy. During our visit, I was somewhat stunned and amazed with her complex and somewhat heartbreaking diagnosis. For over 10 years I've never really gotten very clear answers and I feel very comfortable with moving forward with Dr. Randy's recommendations. He spent a lot of time explaining treatment and options for her. I want to thank Laurel, our nurse also and everybody behind the scenes. We just moved here from Pa and were so blessed by choosing this veteran. The are to park for curbside was clearly marked and the pet care assistance who came out to our car were very caring. Our older dog of 16 years we feel is going to receive proper care and Dr Randy was more then clear with his instructions and we share the same philosophy on our pets. We were afraid that putting her down was an option and it always is especially if their in pain but I believe we have a plan to keep her around a few more months or even years. Awful practice. Always late. No courtesy or respect for clients. Nurses and office staff lie withhold information and are rude. Tried 3 times and every time there was an emergency dog dying that delayed my appt time 20-40 min. Ok truth stranger than fiction but on the third visit I called before leaving for our appointment to see if there were any emergencies or if appointment times we're running behind schedule and the office staff assured me they were only five minutes behind schedule. Half hour later when I arrived we were made to wait 20 minutes before the nurse informed me they had not one but two dying dogs hit by a car that were given priority. hmmmm. In 1/2 hour? Either way office staff didn't bother to inform me upon arrival that all of a sudden there were emergencies and they were running behind schedule. When I explain the situation to the nurse and ask what I could do to prevent the extra anxiety for my dog in future she told me there was nothing. Nothing? Yes I was told I can't expect to be seen as soon as I arrive and apparently 20 to 40 minutes is within as soon as I arrive. Super defensive and overly emotional then huffed out so unprofessional and my poor over anxious dog couldn't even get his doggy Xanax refill. read more

Dr Randy and staff are everything you need in pet care. From the warm welcoming and attention my dogs get before they get seen, till Dr Randy continues with his charm. I have a love for the Shih Tzu breed. Rudy was about 21/2 years old when we moved here and started seeing Dr. Randy. When I got Rudy at about 11 weeks old he had lost an eye due to the breeders cat. But, we loved him even more. We always kept up on vet checks prier to seeing Dr. Randy. Dr. Randy took time and did a thorough exam, (nothing I was use to), talking to me and Rudy all through the exam. He showed me some concerns, but, one was top priority. Rudy's good eye! Doc. had the light off and showed me a scaring over part of Rudy's only eye with a small flash light. It was caused by drying of the eye not closing all the way as he slept. If left uncared for, he would not have sight. We were sent to a specialist. Had surgery to remove the scaring and to sew the corner of his eye lid so it would close and keep the eye moist as sleeping. My other "well known" vet center never caught this or some of the other concerns. So glad for Dr. Randy! Now through the years we have added to the family, but, nothing has changed. Dr. Randy takes his time with our furry kiddo's, (Rudy and Bella), and they love to see him, and be made over by the staff. As we breed Shih Tzu's, we highly recommend Waccamaw Regional Veterinary Center, ( Dr. Randy) to our pups new Mom and Dads. You want a Good Doc. for your breed, Dr Randy is the best I've seen. As I was adopting a cat, I booked and brought my cat in for a check up, rabies and neuter service. Upon completion of the operation, Kelly called me to tell me my cat was out of surgery and ready to be picked up. When I arrived, receptionist Robin told me to "wait as she needed to finish business she had already started". So I waited nearly half an hour...then reluctantly left. I came back half an hour later hoping the staff would be ready for me to pay and pick up my suffering cat. After calmly telling them I would not return due to this bad service and attitude, Kelly curtly started to lecture me about me needing gratitude! I should NOT have had to calmly tell her, "who is paying the bill...is it free?" She then coyly replied my cats records are here with the receipt! I have used veterinary services for 33 years and I have NEVER been accosted with such rudeness and bad service! I am usually a very laid back and patient person but after that terrible treatment yesterday...I will NEVER go back to Waccamaw Veterinary center! It's all about money and they try to sell you more than you need...they are also very expensive...so caveat emptor! read more
