We recently moved to the Myrtle Beach area and needed to establish service with a provider for our 2 year old Yorkie. I called and explained the situation and they said to bring her right in, which was such a relief. The took "Truffles" back for bloodwork and the sweetest veterinarian (Dr Clemons), came out and explained in detail what was going on, and provided me with several options, keeping in mind the overall expense, but not at the expense of Truffles being in pain. Although Truffles has a serious illness and her life will be cut short at some point, Dr Clemons was so sympathetic to our situation and helped us find some medicine on line to keep Truffles comfortable. Was originally at a different vet, but was highly unsatisfied. My mom recommended Meadowlawn (she's been using them for years) & I couldn't be more happy. The staff are always friendly & have transparency with me. Dr. Hunt & Dr. Hardee are top tier (that's the only two vets I've encountered). They have kept full transparency with me & make my concerns feel seen/heard since bringing my baby boy to them. This is in addition to their already respectable charges Given that many visits to the vet are unexpected and few of us have hundreds of extra dollars lying about in our checking accounts, this presents an additional burden on the average person. ***Update on my review.*** Today a manger called me because the owner read my review and he was very concerned. She wanted to go hear from me exactly what happened. I explained to her everything exactly as posted. She assured me that is not the practice of Meadowlawn and explained that (just like all other businesses) they are having staffing issues and it is very hard to find employees to work. She was extremely nice and understanding. She also expressed how concerned the owner was. She said that she was going to address the procedures with all of her staff so this doesn't happen again. I feel a lot better talking to her, and I totally understand that mistakes happen. I am just relieved that my boy is ok and really didn't need immediate medical attention. He was throwing up foam (which turned out to be stuffing from a toy or something). I called Meadowlawn and they told me there were no appointments and I could try calling their sites in Loris or Conway. Mind you my dog was having problems breathing this whole time. When I explained that, I was told that they have noone that can see him and I should think about waiting until 4PM and take him to the animal ER; two and a half hours later. So that was my plan. He threw up his "foam" again and I was going to collect it for the ER Dr before he could eat it again; and I got it scooped up. I noticed it was a ball of cotton stuffing. The dog is fine now and I'm glad I didn't bring him anywhere to spend a grand, but it sucks to know that if there is something emergent they won't let you come in. They could have gotten quite a bit on $ out of me. Again, Gwen and Katie are great, but the business is ran poorly. Choose your babies Dr. wisely. I know I sound just like a Karen, but I assure you I'm not. Roast me all you want too. My dogs are my kids and I want to make sure they are taken care of. read more

I have been a customer of Meadowlawn Animal Services (MAS) for 20 years. I started using them in Loris but now visit their Market Common Location. Dr. Hardee and Dr. Katie are amazing. They have taken my sick dog home with them when hospitalization was needed and have provided excellent care! I have witnessed Dr. Katie's face light up so many times with not only my little dog but many others as well. The staff is wonderful; they seem to treat all their pet clients with gentle care. I have recommended two of my friends to go there, and they are just as pleased. The facility is clean, they are professional, warm & kind. They are the only facility in MB where my little Lilly has ever stayed the night. It appears the staff members at MAS are not just working a job/career, they're living their dream, passionately helping our fur babies. I highly recommend this excellent clinic. Very expensive! Won't quote you prices for neuter took both my dogs there to get updated on shots and heartworm tests did not do one dogs test and had him scheduled out one month and 2 months later I guess do I could pay them another $71 office visit? They are nice people but all about $$$ would not honor an allivet order for meds either cause they want you to buy it from them ! Extremely unprofessional!!! I guess you really don't need a vet because they don't care anymore! You can go get shots at humane society and heartworm tests for less than 1/2 the price . They still will not ok an RX from Allivet even for the dog they did the heartworm test on. Unprofessional! Do not recommend at all!! read more

I adopted a kitten and she got her spay at the place she was adopted from. She was not healing and I took her back twice and she was still not healing. So I called Meadowlawn, my regular vet, who I wish I would have paid to do the spay instead of getting it done for "free" with adoption fee. First they were able to fit me in last minute even though they were really busy and they didn't make me feel bad about it at all. They took the time to really look at why she might not be healing and though it's the same day (let's hope she heals) I actually got answers and explanations and a course of action that makes sense. I feel so much better and my kitten seems like she's feeling better already. My only regret Is not bringing her in last week and taking her to the place that did her spay. read more

The entire staff is professional, capable, and it is a warm place with a comfortable, compassionate atmosphere. They are well-staffed and the wait time is minimal if any. They are terrific when you need to bring your pet on a moments notice. My animals have been cared for by Dr. Gwynn Hardee, and most recently my cat was treated for a tumor on his tail by Dr. Ashley Carey, the nurses, and all team members at the Conway location. Sunny Cat is recovering wonderfully! We were given clear, concise instructions regarding his diagnosis and plan of care, and were informed of ALL options of treatment before surgery during the consult, and after surgery for recovery and follow up. Any cost for care is readily discussed so that clients can be well-informed, and they always try offer the least costly of options whenever they can. Dr. Carey encouraged me to call her absolutely anytime for any concerns when I came to pick him up. Just days prior to that, I boarded my dog Bob while we needed to go out of town for a few days. They have been caring for Bob since I rescued him as an abandoned puppy. Two years ago, weighing in at 3 lbs., he was taken to the shelter after being left on the side of the road grossly dehydrated, with worms and mange. Dr. Hardee diagnosed the mange, which was very difficult to see in this case, (and is contagious to other animals and humans as well, good pick up Dr. Hardee!) A diagnosis the shelter had missed.
