These guys shouldn't be allowed to be in business. I'm going to start with the worst part, but if I have space, I'll go through the rest of it afterward. So they screwed up my prescription. While it was correct on the machine, Dr. Sanders wrote it down incorrectly. That part alone is fine; we're all human. But a business who acts with integrity would hear that and say "Oh no, please come back in so we can correct the issue." This business? Their response was "you didn't buy your glasses from us, so we'll have to charge you." To be clear: I have my prescription from a few years ago. All you need to do is look at it to see that the one from Waco Vision Source is incorrect...but I made the mistake of not looking until after I'd ordered glasses (from somewhere that didn't want to charge me $600 just for lenses), because foolish me trusted what they'd written down. I'm STILL disgusted by their behavior, even a few weeks later. It would've taken 5 minutes tops for them to fix the problem. Again, all they'd have needed to do is compare the new prescription to the old. But they're so prideful and money-hungry that they would rather blame me for not buying from them, instead of admitting that they could have POSSIBLY made a transcription error. I had to go to another business just to fix THEIR mistake, because it would've been a cold day before I handed them another penny. And guess what! The second place got it right AND told me I could come back if I found an error, and they wouldn't charge! That's how you act with integrity. The other negative reviews I'm reading are spot on to what happened to me. The whole appointment is an experience in brand partnerships, which is just gross. You walk in and they make you scan a QR code, which leads you to a questionnaire that's tied in to some brand they've partnered with. After they rush you through the usual tests, they strap a VR HEADSET on your head and make you do some other gimmicky "test"...and surprise! That's also tied in with another brand! I guess they haven't found a brand to partner with for the peripheral and color blindness tests, because those are still done the normal way. Both tech and doctor rush you through the appointment. Before you even have a chance to ask any questions, the doctor calls in her little boutique saleswoman, who escorts you out to the sales floor. At this point, you're shamed and pressured into buying from them. "You get what you pay for!" they keep trying to tell you, at even the merest whiff of a suggestion that you'll be buying elsewhere. Their frames are all $180 minimum, but MOST of them are in the $200+ range. They make you look at those under the guise of inputting your insurance information. And then they wanted to charge me $600 for just the lenses. Yes, I'm now in range for getting progressive lenses, so they're more expensive. But these chuckleheads thought they were going to pressure me to dive straight in for the highest cost they had. You should have heard the sheer reluctance in her voice when she finally had to admit they had something less expensive. This entire experience was a branding partnership under the guise of an eye exam. The fact that they won't give you the time of day if you don't buy from them is DISGUSTING. I cannot emphasize enough how much it is NOT THEIR BUSINESS who you buy glasses from. You're there to get an exam. You're not there for their shiny gimmicks. I don't care how many kick-backs they get; that's a 'them' problem, not an 'us' problem. Seriously, pick another place. I can only imagine the 5 star reviews are either paid or are friends of the staff there...or don't care about money. I've NEVER not bought glasses from the same place as my exam until I came here, and I've also never been this disgusted with a business before. read more

Waco Vision Source has amazing staff, super optometrist, and I love their selection of frames. The office has state of the art equipment and is designed beautifully. Smells like a luxury hotel. If you're lucky, you might even get to see one of the beloved pups greeting patients in the lobby. Makes the annual eye exam an enjoyable experience! read more

I was told this was a good place, they were wrong. They advertise as a high technology practice but you get a peripheral vision check from a tech making hand gestures and a color blind test from a flip book. First time patient. Very nice facility and great staff. Very over priced. I also ended up having to pay for services that I never had to pay for with my previous eye doctor. Unfortunately my vision insurance changed and they were no longer covered under my new policy. I also decided to purchase a pair of glasses and lenses through Waco Vision and called less than 24 hours after my appointment to cancel the order due to some financial issues that came up and I was told that they don't offer refunds after payment has been processed because the order has already sent to the lab. My issue with this is, if my order was already sent to the lab for processing, then why does it take them 5-7 days to get me my glasses??? This will be the last time I visit this facility read more

I am so thankful that I found Dr Virden when we moved to Waco! I have always welcome from the moment I stepped in the from door. I have never had a long wait either. Dr Virden took the time to listen to my concerns about contact lenses and recommend a brand that would meet my needs. I used to only be able to wear my contacts for 5-6 hours before my eyes got irritated, but after trying the ones she and her contacts specialist recommended I can comfortably wear my contacts all day. I also got glasses from Dr Virden's office and when they came in I was having trouble adjusting to them, everything seemed distorted in one eye. The people in her office went above and beyond sending my lenses back to be remade, and even letting me switch my frame to ones more similar to my old glasses in case the shape of the lens was the issue. Never once did they make me feel bad about it, or make me feel like I was causing trouble for them. They were always gracious and kind and in the end I ended up with lenses that work perfectly and frames that I love. I also have a toddler and strabismus runs in my family so I was concerned about my child's vision. I brought this up to Dr Virden during my appointment and she let me know about a program that allowed me to get a free screening for my child! I would never have known about that had she not told me. When I brought my daughter in Dr Virden was so good with her and even though she was squirmy Dr Virden was able to do the screening and gave me advice on what to look out for going forward. I just cannot say enough about how wonderful Dr Virden and her staff are! We recently had to change our vision insurance and are no longer able to see Dr Virden and I am so disappointed because she really is the best! read more

Beautiful office! The MA who tested my eyes was very professional but the wait to see the Dr after was a bit long (about 30 min). I am SO GLAD I took my son to Dr. Virden. Several years ago, after a very brief and inattentive exam, a local opthamologist told me that my seven year old son needed eye surgery. I figured that I didn't want to take such a dramatic step without a second opinion, so at the recommendation of several friends I took my son to Dr. Virden. In contrast with the ophthalmologist, Dr. Virden examined my son very thoroughly, spending well over an hour with us. Her detailed exam revealed that my son didn't need surgery at all and that his problem could be corrected with glasses. I am thrilled to say that now, two years later and after following Dr. Virden's advice, my son's problem has been CURED. He didn't need surgery and now he no longer needs glasses. read more

Read and Heed Fantastic technology used to wow you, and yes they did wow me (but not to the point of blinding me, pun intended, to what occurred). The examination by Doctor was rushed and even had the salesperson waiting in room while trying to push me through the corral to just get my money. When they finally prodded me out of the room, I was given 2 options for eyewear (They have 100s of frames there and we "b-lined" straight to the Ray Bans and then the next costly. Afterwards while I was truly debating if I needed glasses (due to being rushed through appointment) I asked if I could see through my prescription again, and they said they "had no way of doing that"... how is this response even possible at an eye doctor??? If you like getting your glasses from there, that is fair. However, if you feel you need a good eye doctor to really look into your eye problems and good follow through of making arrangements to take care of your troubles DONT GO HERE. To start I have been wearing contact lenses for 16 years. I normally get my vision checked with Scott & White, however the next apt would be in 2 months and I wanted to get my annual exam done quickly. Since I have ordered contact lenses from this place before I thought I would give them a try. WRONG DECISION. From the start I felt that I was being pushed product no matter what I was actually comfortable with. After complaining that the solution was not for me, and that I felt the strength in my right eye was off, I was made to feel like I was wrong, then to actually be told "oh yeah, maybe it is off". AFTER ALL THIS, I still decide to go ahead and finalize everything so I can get my prescription and order contacts. I ask the contact lens "specialist" if I could order 16 months worth of contacts, incase I lose or damage a lens, she states, no, we only allow 12 months worth. I told her okay, then I'll take the 12 months and then I'll order another 6 months online. She states that the "DR" will not authorize any more lenses than the 12 month supply. I understand the concept of 12 month prescription, 12 month supply, but I have lost many a lens, and I don't want to wait to resupply my lenses when I need them at the time I need them. I mean we're talking about contact lenses, not prescription drugs. I told the "specialist" I was not happy with this and that I wanted the "DR" to authorize the additional 6 months. The "specialist" stated well I will have our office manager give you a call back. I can tell you after all these years of ordering lenses, I have never had an issue with ordering more than 12 months worth of lenses. Long story short, a gentleman called to tell me that Waco Vision Source would rather not have my business and would be refunding me my money for my exam. I tried to explain my situation, and was told "well this is apples and oranges at this moment and we would just rather you go elsewhere where you can be happy." As I write this right now, I have never felt so "crapped" on from a business in my life. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I recently relocated to the Waco area and found Dr. Virden's office online. I am delighted by my experience with Dr. Virden and her entire team. When I checked in, I was greeted warmly and waited for a very brief time. As we progressed through each step of the exam, everything was carefully explained to me and there was never a sense of "hurry." Best of all, Dr. Virden identified a better way of addressing an issue I was having with my current contact prescription, so I left seeing much more clearly! Worst experience of my life! Never write these but felt others needed to know about this person. After having a discussion about my child wearing contacts longer than recommended, she started berating me. It began with "HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN?" YES, she really said that then nodded her head when I questioned in disbelief!!!! And then compared my "allowing" this to go on, to not making my child wear a seatbelt in a car. Then she chastised my previous doctor for not making sure we followed the recommended guidelines. Stayed long enough to get a needed prescription but will NEVER return. I can not speak highly enough about this wonderful place. They were so welcoming when I was nervous. I walked in grasping at my coffee, they were so patient with me and walked me thru everything. They helped me pick out new frames that would flatter my and my style. When my friend that came to meet me (to help me decide) got distracted in finding frames for herself, a staff member that was about to leave for lunch came over and joined us in the search. I felt at home. I highly recommend Dr. Virden, Nicole, and Moses. You can not find a more professional and friendly environment and one you can truly feel at home. Very unfriendly and unprofessional. I would not recommend using this vision center. I made an appointment for my son, kept him out of school, took the time off work and drove in from Hillsboro. GPS was incorrect with the directions. Called the office 20 minutes before the appointment for directions and no one answered or called me back. I waited 10 minutes and called back only to be told that GPS directions to their office was inncorrect, that it happens all the time and that the doctor would not be able to see my son. I explained that I took the day off, kept him out of school and drove in for this appointment. They did not care and the doctor would not even call me to discuss the treatment we recived from her staff. My advice is to find a different vision center, one that actaully values their patients. read more

Dr. Virden is not compassionate, rude and arrogant. If you are five to ten minutes late with a valid explanation she doesn't care. She will put walk in clients in front of you. If you question and express yourself she will choose not to see you. She may have upscale equipment but my advice find another eye doctor! read more
