While the soup Wafu serves is absolutely not ramen I'm giving them four stars because what they do offer is decent and they shouldn't be overlooked for what they do offer.
They should either change the name of their restaurant to better reflect what they do offer or actually make traditional ramen like tonkastu. It may be difficult to change the name of their restaurant but making a true ramen is really labor intensive. So maybe that's why they don't. Since the closest authentic ramen shop according to Google Maps is Naruto in Aix-en-Provence, Wafu should consider making a legitimate ramen. It would be unique to the immediate area since there seems to be a fair amount of traditional Japanese restaurants including sushi shops. Avignon deserves a true ramen shop, not something masquerading as one.
In the meantime, if you have the time and the ease of traveling to Aix-en-Provence, I highly recommend going to Naruto. Their ramen is excellent especially for ramen offered outside of Japan. read more
