I'm always a little scared when I go into a Wagamama, because me experiences in them have differed wildly depending on the restaurant. The main problems I have with Wagamama are that the portion sizes are huge and I really dislike the seating arrangement. Certainly not somewhere you want to go to have anything resembling a private conversation. Wellington, New Zealand: terrible service, watery food and a waitress slipped and whacked a plate of food into a customer's forehead... As opposed to... Sydney, Australia: great food, great service, great times. The Cardiff Library location in the centre of town had me, fortunately, smiling on the way out though. The food, on my part, was scrummy and the service was everything to be expected. I had a red curry/prawn soup thing, which was lovely. My friend had a new item on the menu which was a salad with a wasabi sauce dressing. As amusing as it was to watch her eat it, I don't think she would recommend it (and she loves wasabi) to anyone who doesn't usually drink a gallon of water between each mouthful of lettuce.

Whichever Wagamama you go to, the food and seating are pretty much the same, but I've found the service to vary quite dramatically from one restaurant to another. I like the food, which seems to be quite consistent, but I loathe the bench-style seating where you can feel a bit invaded by strangers dining next to you. I guess that's just a personal preference, though, and won't bother everyone. When it comes to service, however, pretty much all of us want waiting staff to be friendly and efficient. While at a Bristol branch of Wagamama I've experienced arrogant waiting staff (far more concerned with loudly bantering with their mates across the restaurant rather than tending to their customers), in Cardiff I experienced quite the opposite. Our waiter was really friendly and engaging, checked that everything was okay with our meals part way through, and genuinely seemed to care. Perhaps some of the Bristol staff could visit this Cardiff branch for a day's customer service training?

We went here for lunch and the food was amazing at reasonable prices. Our server, Kelly, was very friendly and helpful. The service was fast as well. I recommend going to this restaurant!! They have a full separate vegan and vegetarian menu. It's always nice to have choices!

Friendly staff and amazing food. I would definitely recommend. I ordered Pad Thai and it was just a bit too spicy for me but I guess it depends on your taste. Green tea/water are free of charge!

It serves elevated Indian cuisine that is beautifully made and creatively presented. This isn't your standard Indian take-out. The dining room is casual but stylish, the cocktails were terrific and the food top notch. Service was very welcoming and efficient. Had we been hungrier we would have gotten the tasting menu with the wine pairings. Highly recommend.

For starters, we had the Aloo tikka chat (5*), the Bombay chat (5*) and the creamery (4*) plus poppadoms with the trio of dips. For mains our table had: Chicken Nawabi - easily the best dish I have ever tasted. The chicken bhuna in this dish is NEXT level. 5 stars does not do this plate justice! 5* Tiffin sea bass - their signature dish and also delicious! 5* Nadal khozi curry - fragrant, deep flavours. Probably one of the best curries I've ever had but it had tough contenders in the other plates! 4* Raman Akhbari - the lamb leg with mash. Amazing. 5* For dessert we had chocomosa anand and the grilled pineapple dish. Do not think you can share played as the portions are small. The little choc filled pastry delights were melt-in-the-mouth crispy parcels filled with warm melted chocolate, on a bed of caramelised banana. These guys are outstanding. Do not let the exterior and street fool you. This is memorable.

It was probably way I went. Looking for surly spices going around burning people and collecting ASBO's sounded like a good night out if I'm being honest. Much to my dismay it was far more civilised than that and found it to be a Thai restaurant too. I like Thai as I'm newish to it and am still finding myself ordering whatever looks good rather than going for a usual dish I like. Beef with hot thai bean sauce was my weapon of choice and I wasn't disappointed. There was a small Spicy riot in my mouth, but nothing I couldn't handle and found it very tasty indeed. The staff were polite and served as well, nothing out of the blue though. It did take a little longer than I would of liked but that may of been due to the large number of bodies that were taking up my air and my time, so it was understandable.

The interior is modern and very well furnished. Not a typical, authentic setting for this kind of cuisine, it's still pleasant enough and certainly kept clean and in good condition. The staff here are friendly enough, although given the nature of buffet dining, there's pretty much very little they have to do. Staff are keen to offer refills on drinks, but this isn't entirely innocent. With the quite cheap prices on buffet food, the drinks are a little bit more expensive and carry a bit of a premium. The food is pretty average. That's an honest opinion. Really don't think it's anything to write home about, and i'd hardly call it authentic and flavoursome. The poor quality of the food is detrimental to the whole experience quite significantly. After all, you do go out to eat the food, not take in the surroundings.

As a Californian Chinese person who grew up on hot pot, the opening of the brand new Hotpot Spot…read morewas like a godsend. We made a booking, walked in, and when the hostess asked me if I had any questions, I proudly puffed out my chest and said "no". Because. I. Freaking. Love. Hot Pot. If you've never had hotpot before and you're looking to experience more aspects of Chinese cuisine, please don't be put off but the idea of needing to cook your own food. It is one of the best dining experiences EVER. HOW IT WORKS: STEP 1: Walk in, and request your broth. I recommend Szechuan spicy which actually isn't that spicy and you can pump up the heat if you so desired. For those in your group who are a bit more afraid of spice, you can get half-and-half where the broth is split between soothing vegetable or spicy. But please do try the spicy, as you can adjust the level between 1-5. STEP 2: Order your fresh ingredients to put into the broth. Get PLENTY of meat, I recommend lamb and beef. Cut ribbon thin so it cooks within seconds and soaks up the heavenly broth. For noodles, the knife-shaved noodles are great. STEP 3: Make a dipping sauce. You can experiment with what you like. I highly recommend trying traditional Chinese BBQ (Sha Cha) sauce. This is the bit that might put off newcomers, though I'm sure any employee there would be happy to design a sauce for you. STEP 4: Put ingredients into the broth step-by-step. You don't need to be a professional chef to do this, just a general idea of how long it takes ingredients to cook. For example, put potatoes in at the start to let it stew. Because the meat is cut so thin, I don't even leave it in there as it will take literally seconds to cook to perfection. STEP 5: Enjoy! --- Hot pot is one of the most wonderful dining experiences ever. Not just for the food, but the community of it where your group is just around a big pot of delicious soup. Oh, and the best part, drink the soup at the end after it's had all of the lovely flavours from your ingredients infused!
