    Beautiful Waimanalo Beach
    Leanne D.

Waimānalo beach has been one of my favorite beaches on Oahu since my family visited the islands over 30 years ago. The last time I was here the beach was shrinking and I was afraid it would no longer exist. Surprisingly when we came to visit it during this trip the beach seemed to be bigger than I last remember. A beautiful beach to sit back and relax and enjoy the serenity and beauty of Hawaii.

White sands and beautiful ocean. Very beautiful beach. Many dogs and families! Nice to spend a day!

Waimanalo Beach was also on our list of beaches in Oahu. I won't even lie: I added this beach because of the name itself. This beach is what you need for a perfect sunset The beach stands out for the large view of the water and the clouds above, which makes a sunset or sunrise more beautiful with its view. I also felt that this beach was less crowded, with the most calming environment compared to other beaches in Oahu I'm glad to say that the addition of Waimanalo beach was a great decision to my itinerary

An amazing Oasis!!! The views are spectacular and the waves are breathtaking. Truly a gem off the beaten path.

What a view! Nice cool trade winds blowing, surf sounds, salty scent of the ocean and that relaxing vibe. Living the Aloha, so blessed!

Best place to chill and have the option to do some mellow swimming and or snorkeling when the wind is a mild breeze instead of the normal brisk wind that makes the area palm trees and lush foliage dance to its command. Very relaxing to hear the waves and see the many shades of pristine turquoise ocean kissed by the white wave tops. Also a great place to paint or take photos that become instant masterpieces. Love living in Hawaii and embracing the Aloha!

My favorite beach! The waves were strong enough for boogie board but could be too strong for little ones. Parking is adequate and the restrooms were pretty well kept.

This beach is good for sunbathing, picnicking, or simply enjoying the stunning views of the turquoise waters and the mountain range in the distance. The water here is incredibly clear and warm and perfect for swimming, bodyboarding, and other water activities. It's also relatively shallow, making it a great spot for families with young children. Although, it's much windy and big waves. While swimming, sand would be inside your bathing suit and your covered with sand at the end even though there's showers to wash off. One of the standout feature of this beach is its natural beauty. The lush greenery and the backdrop of the mountains create a picturesque setting that's perfect for photo op. Unlike some of the busier beaches on the island, this beach is more laid-back. Facilities here are clean and well-maintained, with restrooms, showers, and picnic tables available for public use.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island and one of my favorites for sure. Beautiful clear blue waters and soft sand. The waves do get a bit choppy but still amazing. They have showers and restrooms and a good size parking lot. Never really gets that crowded, maybe the weekends but usually not too bad. Stunning views and just a place to relax and enjoy yourself. Dreaming about this place just writing this review.......

Visited Waimananlo Beach twice during our family trip to Oahu, this was my kids favorite beach out of the 5 or 6 we visited. The waves are small (think wave pool) but fun enough to play around in, the waters are turquoise and shallow near the shore with a slow drop off. There is plenty if coast line to grab a spot here, and it doesnt get too busy. Highly recommend visiting here for swimming and a great day at the beach.

(Visited 09/24/22 SA @ 11:00am): Why, man, should I keep this beach on the down-low!? On this recent trip to O'ahu, I finally found some time for a relaxing day at the beach, and Waimanalo Beach just happened to be the lucky winner! I spent a good portion of my trip in nearby Kailua on the Windward or east side of the island where this beach was located. I pleasantly came across it after a massive meal at nearby Keneke's Waimanalo as I explored around and tried to walk off some of the awesome grindz I stuffed into my belly. Although I never saw it, apparently the formal "park" portion of the beach had picnic areas, public restrooms, shower facilities, lifeguard stations, and shady areas along ironweed trees (I saw some trees where I was at). Was this "hidden gem" worth another visit the next time I was on the island!? EXPERIENCE The word Waimanalo meant "potable water" but was unaware of its relevance here. Otherwise, it was a lazy day as I swam along the coastline in crystal blue turquoise water https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=BWw4AT-Es_vZRHOCbnQA2g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, bodysurfed onto the shore, sunbathed on the white soft sand as I read a magazine. There were only a handful of people on this particular stretch of beach which was amazing! As I loafed along, I enjoyed watching the sand crabs burrow themselves into the sand, fight each other to a duel, and scamper sideways to avoid the rushing ocean water https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=F5PoA76OougaZ_kf2XJhGw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Off in the distance, you had gorgeous views of Rabbit Island and Makapu'u Point https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=GYWwZQ1q97fgwlCbaEtdqA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. SERVICE Specifically on this section of the beach, I saw nothing in the way of service-oriented amenities such as bathrooms or lifeguards, so be prepared and be smart about your water activities. PARKING (FREE) Officially part of Waimanalo Beach Park, there were plenty of stalls on their private lot, in addition to ample parking along the main drag of Kalanianaole Hwy. and all surrounding side streets. In this particular case, I parked on Wailea St. in a residential neighborhood and walked down a pathway between homes https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=yBQO7talnDCIRi94sQ5cDQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw which led me to paradise - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Down a not-so-hidden yet unmarked neighborhood pathway https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=vNTNAdfQMTv7b61cZP7h3w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, the beach was clean, spacious, wide, and nearly desolate with shady trees and foliage that edged the sand. Mostly a shorebreak, this beach was perfect for light water activity (no real surf breaks or much in the way of any views if you were to snorkel). No benches, chairs, or tables, so bring your own chairs or towels to lay or sit on. Obviously, there was plenty of natural lighting with only the glowing stars left to guide you when nighttime came. There were no TVs and music except for any electronic device you brought along with you such as your mobile phone. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=JAAvaOsmu_95p5fLCvMMmg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Waimanalo Beach was a little piece of heaven which I hoped would stay that way. Online research culled many articles and reviews of this beach that also alluded to what I experienced, so none of this was a secret. However, on this given weekend day, I was thankful for the peacefulness and solitude. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $0.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, there was no need for funds of any kind which included my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

My daughter wanted to come here with her friends so I drove them here. My daughter enjoyed being in the water with her friend. I sat down on the beach under an umbrella because I didn't want to get burned. I don't like too much sun. I did enjoy the views of the sand and clear water. There's a parking lot right in front. Limited spaces though. When we left, a car was literally waiting for me to leave. There's restrooms and a place to rinse off the sand off your body and feet. That was near the restrooms. I definitely liked this beach as it wasn't too crowded on a Monday afternoon. I did hit a little traffic as there were construction going on in the roads. Highly recommend this beach. I would come back again.

    Friggin' gorgeous!

Laaaawd GEEZUS!!! This is possibly the most beautiful beach that I have ever seen in my entire life. Yep, I said it. In my LIFE!!! I've been to quite a few beaches in Hawaii, but Waimanolo Beach trumps them ALL! It just became my absolute favorite beach on this island. Now granted I haven't visited every beach on the island, but it's still the most gorgeous beach that I've seen until I'm proven otherwise. Whew.... I mean, where to begin?! The soft white sand, the incredibly vibrant aqua hues, the calm and beautiful white waves. The water is crystal clear and there isn't a speck of garbage in sight. They keep it extremely clean. This is one of those beaches that you see in the movies or on TV. It looks so fake but it's real. It's so surreal how stunning this beach is! I'm sure a beach like this gets crazy crowded on the weekends, but it was pretty chill during my stop on a weekday afternoon. In fact, there was plenty of parking spaces open when I arrived around noon. There's a good amount of recreational space right before you get to the beach. It's covered my tall trees and there's plenty of grassy space. They've got lots of trash cans on site with showers and restrooms (wasn't the cleanest restroom in the world, but at least they're on site). The trek down to the beach is an easy one, so bring all of your beach gear with ease. This stretch of beach seems to go on for literal miles, so there's plenty of room to spread out and lots of beach to explore. I found a wonderful secluded area where I was damn near the only on there. This is how I prefer to enjoy my beach time, and ya girl fell in love instantly! I felt completely safe too. Got in the warm water and also enjoyed a relaxing nap too. My kind of beach day! Been dreaming about Waimanolo Beach ever since I left. I honestly would have gone back every single day that I was there, but the explorer in me wanted to check out other beaches too. But now I see; this beach is simply the best! When in Oahu, you should most definitely put Waimanolo Beach high on your list of beaches to visit. Trust me, you will fall in love with this beauty.

Highly reommended beach on the windward south eastern side of Oahu, under 40 minutes from Waikiki. Three miles of soft sand, wind and waves make it a fun site for wave jumping, boogie boarding and lazing on the beach. Quiet, clean and uncrowded, a true gem. There are lifeguard stations and restrooms along the Waimanalo Beach Park which also has basketball couts, recreational lawns and a small playground. Our favorite access point was along Wailea Street. At the Wailea intersection with the main road, only a 5 min walk from the beach access path, there are amenities and food such as Keneke's Plate Lunch and BBQ, Kalapawai Cafe & Deli, a fresh coconut and pineapple stand, a homecooked lau lau stand, Ono Steak and Shrimp, a gas station with a 7-Eleven and a local corner grocery store! Easy access to all you need for a grest day out! Highly recommended!

Ask the Community - Waimanalo Beach

Are there any public restrooms at this location?

There may be some at the actual beach park (with the parking lot) part of the stretch of beach. The section of the beach I usually go to has no bathrooms or lifeguard stations.

Is there an issue with the homeless at the beach now?

Hi there I was wondering if there was any swings at this beach ? thanks please let me know !!!

I didn't see any when I was visiting, and I also heard the swings that did exist were taken down by volunteers.

Are pop up shades and umbrellas allowed here?
