Awesome clean and very well made park for the kids. Also has bathrooms nearby but they close at 2pm, there are more bathrooms nearby the tennis courts that stay open but it a bit of a walk. So much to climb and run through and explore, kept them busy for a couple hours and tired them out for an easy car ride home. Fully fenced with one entrance so you don't have to worry about kids running off. Will bring the kids back again. read more

This park has two main sections--one designed for younger kids and another for slightly older kids--plus an additional volcano-style structure outside the fenced area. Depending on where you enter, you'll see posted rules and guidelines, which is helpful. It's such a fun space! Waimea's Ānuenue park is the best public park that I have EVER been to! So many fun things for the kids to play on - accommodating a nice range of ages (toddler to young teens) as well as special needs children! That was a huge plus as our kids span a wide range in ages, and we have a daughter with special needs! There were a lot of benches for parents to sit on to watch their kids, and a nice amount of shade. There's also a bathroom nearby but it was closed the two times we went. We will definitely stop there again when we're in the area. Super, super fun! Maika'i loa!!! read more

The ANUENUE PLAYGROUND in this park is just awesome. I purposely drove here one more time so that my toddler could play here. An amazing place for kids, especially considering how rare playground are on this island. You won't regret bringing your kid here! read more

Cute playground with a LOT of structures, cute castle theme, a good separation between tot structures and bigger kid structures, and a lot of different things to do (musical structures, climbing walls, wobbly things to stand on, drawbridges, etc). It's a small-ish lot on a corner, easy to miss being sandwiched between a church and a school, but it has a LOT of fun packed into a compact space. Only gripe was the weather in this area is definitely not as consistent as in Kona proper - we drove up from there twice and the first time it was pouring and storming by the time we arrived (so we decided not to get out of the car) and then sunny again returning home. Came again the next day and the wind was absolutely wild with some showers, but decided to brave it anyways and had a good (cold) time. read more

My daughter (3) loves Anuenue Playground. It is beautiful and well maintained. Whenever we make the inter island trip to Hawaii Island, we make it a point to stop in Kamuela so she can enjoy the park. She can literally spend an hour or more frolicking between the different areas of the playground. Not just because there is so much for her to do, the weather is so much cooler than we are accustomed to, which is refreshing. We have always encountered very friendly and welcoming families who also bring their children there. Definitely always worth the stop. We tire the little one out. Then we make a stop for coffee just around the corner. Win-win for all of us. read more

Whenever we are in Kona, there are 3 things we must do: Manago's for pork chops, Hawaiian Style Cafe for breakfast and visit my son's favorite playground ---- the Anuenue Playground in Kamuela. Pick up sandwiches from nearby Waimea Butcher Shop and have a nice picnic lunch on the tables near the baseball field and let the kids go wild. Plan to stay awhile because there are a lot of things for kids to play on ----- swings, slides, monkey bars, bridges, things to climb, things to spin on, lots of places to hide. My son tends to make friends quickly so he usually will make a friend or two on the playground, and will explore/experience the playground with them. It tends to be cool in Kamuela, so bring a sweatshirt or jacket if you're cold blooded :). If this playground is crowded, there's new playground equipment at the relatively new community park. That playground is usually empty, so we'll head there first and come back to Anuenue when it's not so crowded. Between the playgrounds in Kamuela and the water slides at Waikoloa Village ---- makes for a happy and tired kid :) read more

This is like the Disneyland of all playgrounds, I wish we had a similar one on Oahu it is so much fun and my boys LOVE coming here when we are in Waimea!! The playground is colorful, safe, has shade, always filled with other kids, there are bathrooms nearby, and water fountains, trees to climb, plenty of street parking, and on Saturday there is a farmers market in the morning till at least noon right across the street. There's slides, musical instruments, monkey bars, swings, a merry go round, and just so many fun obstacles or pieces of equipment to play on or in. A must visit if you have kids! And it's freeeeee. read more

What. A. Gem!!!! We found this park by accident and, wow!!!, what a find!!! It's called Anuenue Playground, specifically, and it is gorgeous! Very similar to Oahu's Aikahi Playground but better!!! There are bright colors everywhere. And there are different areas to cater to the very young toddlers to the older kids. There are music stations around the playground which my son loved to bang on. The ground is covered in hay which helps to absorb falls. There are different slides all over the playground which is so much fun for the little ones. Parking is easy as it's just along the fence. The park is surrounded by a fence so little ones can't go running into the street. This is PLAYGROUND HEAVEN! I'm sure you can imagine, my son didn't want to leave... And neither did his parents!! (Bring a sweater, the park can get chilly!) read more

It's completely closed off and fenced in. With active son whom I just can't seem to control, that is the most important feature to me! It's relatively new so the ground is nicely covered by mulch and the toys are in good shape. My son is five now but I think he will be able to play here for couple more years with his toddler sister. I love it that there's family of chicken that lives here too, it just adds to the playground charm. Ever since we found the town of Waimea, we've been coming up this way from Waikoloa to cool off. There's usually a 10F or so difference in temperature, so during the summer, this town is refreshingly cool and comfortable. We actually make an effort to pass through Waimea on a day trip to elsewhere, so my kids can play in the park before we hit the road for the day . If it's Saturday, we grab something to eat at Farmers Market across the street and play here. I definitely recommend this park and frankly the whole town :) read more

Amazing park - so much to do, and the kids loved it. Worth the drive, and we ended up pending a couple hours here watching the kids play.

Best park we've ever seen in all of Hawaii. We were visiting from Honolulu and decided to make a stop while driving by. We also visited the Farmers Market across the street on Saturdays (7am to Noon). My kids 4.5 and 2 loved it. So colorful and so interactive. Two sides. One side for 2-5 year olds and one for 5-12. Also has plenty of benches to eat lunch in the shade and restrooms near by to wash hands. read more

Great for kids. Really large playground. There are plenty of places to sit and picnic tables if you want to eat. Just warn the kids not to run their hands on the wood. It might give them a splinter. read more
