This park has two main sections--one designed for younger kids and another for slightly older kids--plus an additional volcano-style structure outside the fenced area. Depending on where you enter, you'll see posted rules and guidelines, which is helpful. It's such a fun space! There are plenty of seating (benches) for parents, including shaded spots, which is especially important on hot days.

Waimea's Ānuenue park is the best public park that I have EVER been to! So many fun things for the kids to play on - accommodating a nice range of ages (toddler to young teens) as well as special needs children! That was a huge plus as our kids span a wide range in ages, and we have a daughter with special needs! There were a lot of benches for parents to sit on to watch their kids, and a nice amount of shade. There's also a bathroom nearby but it was closed the two times we went. We will definitely stop there again when we're in the area. Super, super fun! Maika'i loa!!!

Decently sized playground with plenty of everything to do. Lots of play structures and shades and benches around the edges. Parking can be a bit of a pain because of how popular this place is. But you'll be able to find street parking around.

Great little park with great play apparatus. Your little ones will enjoy this place. They've got a baseball field there too. We stopped by so my kid can get some play time. Unfortunately, it started raining which is common in Waimea but she still enjoyed her time there.

My daughter (3) loves Anuenue Playground. It is beautiful and well maintained. Whenever we make the inter island trip to Hawaii Island, we make it a point to stop in Kamuela so she can enjoy the park. She can literally spend an hour or more frolicking between the different areas of the playground. Not just because there is so much for her to do, the weather is so much cooler than we are accustomed to, which is refreshing. We have always encountered very friendly and welcoming families who also bring their children there. Definitely always worth the stop. We tire the little one out. Then we make a stop for coffee just around the corner. Win-win for all of us.

Whenever we are in Kona, there are 3 things we must do: Manago's for pork chops, Hawaiian Style Cafe for breakfast and visit my son's favorite playground ---- the Anuenue Playground in Kamuela. Pick up sandwiches from nearby Waimea Butcher Shop and have a nice picnic lunch on the tables near the baseball field and let the kids go wild. Plan to stay awhile because there are a lot of things for kids to play on ----- swings, slides, monkey bars, bridges, things to climb, things to spin on, lots of places to hide. My son tends to make friends quickly so he usually will make a friend or two on the playground, and will explore/experience the playground with them. It tends to be cool in Kamuela, so bring a sweatshirt or jacket if you're cold blooded :). If this playground is crowded, there's new playground equipment at the relatively new community park. That playground is usually empty, so we'll head there first and come back to Anuenue when it's not so crowded. Between the playgrounds in Kamuela and the water slides at Waikoloa Village ---- makes for a happy and tired kid :)

This was a cute park for the kids. It is definitely worth a stop if passing through Waimea to let them get some wiggles out.

My son thought this was the most fun, go figure!

Great place to take the kids. Not too far from town. Eats are near and plenty to choose from.

Amazing park - so much to do, and the kids loved it. Worth the drive, and we ended up pending a couple hours here watching the kids play.

Very well done park. Creative, fun, colorful designs. Safe for kids, tuned xylophone like instruments. Kids will love it.

Our guide,…read moreMark, was incredible--he kept everyone talking and he was genuinely interested in hearing everyone's travel stories. He was very knowledgeable and provided us with a wealth of fascinating information about the island. After a comfortable van ride, we hiked a beautiful trail that led us to a series of truly stunning, pristine waterfalls. We were treated to a delicious lunch from a local deli, and we loved that it was served in eco-friendly, completely reusable containers. On the way back, we made a perfect final stop at a local macadamia nut store. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, and we recommend it!

The color of Mauna Kea with the moon shining on it was so magical all around us. There were some clouds that cleared pretty well by the end of our star gazing. We were the last ones up there so it got dark enough to see more than you'd expect with the moon. Jeff, our awesome tour guide, used a laser pointer to help us see the constellations we usually can't back at home. The images on the digital telescope like nebulas, the moon & star clusters were an amazing addition to have as keepsakes. My husband and I felt he made the tour a great balance of learning and fun. He had the group feeling like family before we even left from the pickup lot. Things to consider: I do recommend following the moons cycles booking this tour/your trip if this is especially important for you to see as many stars as possible. The sunset and views of the observatory's make it awesome anyways :) I struggled with altitude sickness around 12,000 ft. Jeff had made sure to let us know beforehand if we experienced any issues to speak up. I was hesitant as I know it would mean turning the whole tour around, but some tingling turned to dizziness and then a brief fainting. He immediately stopped the bus and helped ground me and make sure I was completely okay & coherent before letting me know our options for the tour. We made it up to the top with 2 more (included in tour) stops and I felt better with each one having more time to acclimate :) Thank you Jeff!! You handled this so professionally and I appreciate your check-ins for the rest of the trip. It's cold even with parka and gloves. It's so worth packing warm shoes and layers. The bus had ac and heat so that was great! Do it if you can! Awe-inspiring! Such an unreal environment that makes you wonder about so many things. Just take the precautions seriously, move slow and breathe deep.
