    Delicious baked goods
    D'Arcy L.

Dropped in here as the family was looking for some quick snacks. Decided to go with a sticky bun and my wife had a few scones. She said the scones were delicious. Like really amazing! My sticky bun was super tasty as well. I have seen some people comment on the prices here. I don't like to pay a lot myself but people running a bakery is not easy work. Super early mornings and needing to bake fresh goods daily. Show a bit of respect. Making a living at a small business in Quebec is no easy task. If you want cheap baked goods go to Costco or no Frills. I have no affiliation with the business here. For me great baked goods. In the area of it is snacking time I will return back!

Pizza sticks terrible and ridiculous price. ...charged for 2 pieces even though there was one stick.... a half inch stick was connected to a 1inch wide stick. Just charge for the one pizza stick!!!

Really great bakery! Fresh and delicious baked goods. Friendly staff. They also carry locally-sourced meats (at reasonable prices), which we've tried and liked. Can't wait to try some of their cooked and frozen quiches and tourtière, and also the homemade sauces! Area of improvement (reason for minus 1 star) would be...maybe they should cut down on selling random stuff and instead try to make the sitting area nicer. It would create more room and would improve the ambiance. Perhaps they are doing this on purpose to encourage people to not hang around too long / create high turnover of customers. Or trying to differentiate themselves from the neighbouring cafés? Either way, the non-bakery area of the establishment is a bit of an eyesore.

After seeing a new client while in the area, Senica and I were famished! but had difficulty deciding upon which restaurant in the sweet little lakeside village of Wakefield to gorge ourselves at. I stepped into the bakery for a little something to take the edge off and, well, i should really know better. 50$ later i walked back to Senica and the vehicle with a big bag of fresh baked wonderfuls, and local preserves. We ate great chunks of quiche at the large picnic tables lakeside. Our "happy place"s delightfully restored before the drive back to Montreal.

Very dirty and unkept space, the cashier had drooled on my food and touched them with dirty hands, very slow service and just feels gross

My only small critique is that there are sometimes a few powder chunks at the bottom. Other than that, it's a lovely spot. I especially like that they always have great gift options available, like jams, cakes, and curated baskets.

At Christmas in 2025, we went to pick up our Christmas log. Despite having paid in November, they had lost the order, and almost refused serving us, despite showing proof of our purchase. The prices keep going up, and the cakes have been shrunk. After over twenty years of patronage, we are going to do business elsewhere. What a shame after having previously set high standards for quality, taste and service. The customers keep your business going. You depend on us, not the other way around.

Looks like I'm first up, so I better make it count! So…read morehere's a brief history, I like sticky buns and I cannot lie, the other brothers can't deny, that Packenham had the best in the space, till the recipe ended up in Carleton place. Plagiarized raps out of the way, here's my review... We heard that CP general store had amazing sticky buns and were further intrigued when rumours circulated that they had the recipe from the OG Packenham General store. We made two attempts to drive the CP to get them but the staff who was there said that they didn't have them at the time we went. I called on a Saturday morning and asked if they could put some aside.... Not only did she put some aside, she was kind enough to remember us and put a bow and ribbon on this really nice gift box for my son. We got a few other things as well, they had cheese sticks, a couple of seltzer type drinks and the butter tarts. Lemme first talk about the butter tarts - they are unlike any other butter tart and I don't think I can get them from anywhere else now - they were so delicious and although sweet, the pack of 6 disappeared over two days. Now for the sticky buns: holy shit so good, you gotta get them! That's all I gotta say - just gooey and delectable! The staff - five star! The entrance is a shared entrance with a gift and antique store so overall a really nice experience. The Carleton Place General Store gets 5 stars from me.
