I have five in my household (plus two dogs) and somehow I've taken on the role of picking up all of the family's prescriptions... and it's a lot of work! I've learned that sometimes prescriptions don't auto-refill and often a phone call to the doctor is needed or sometimes a pharmacy is out of what you need but they don't tell you when they many have it back in stock. All of this to say that I started going to this Walgreen's for many of these prescriptions because I find the pharmacy staff here to be communicative and helpful. They also often have the meds we need while other pharmacies do not. While this is not the closest location to my house, it's conveniently located north of Shea on Tatum and I don't mind making the drive. Another perk is that they have pretty good hours and a drive-through for the pharmacy. I'll be back! read more

This is my nearby Walgreens, and I have been at this location off and on over the years whether to buy a quick item, take advantage of a promotion, use the pharmacy, or use their photo center. I have found their staff to be helpful and ready to point me the right direction or talk me through how their reward program works. If I was going to use a Walgreens for anything, this is likely the location I would stop by. I haven't been to a Walgreens in a while, and I was sent a reminder that my W Cash Rewards were going to expire if I didn't use some of them or make a purchase soon. I figured this was a good excuse for me to stock up on some paper goods, especially Kleenex or facial tissues, which I'm out of stock at home. I found that there were multiple options for brands, box sizes, number of ply, and whether soft or with lotion on them. I did walk around for a bit until I found the right aisle (which turned out to be in the front half of the store among other grocery items) though after I found them, I was able to take off rather quickly. When walking around today, I was reminded that this store regularly keeps the aisles looking good and items in stock, though as I also saw today, there were employees on the various aisles restocking items and changing price tags. When I was checking out, there were two people ahead of me, but the line moved rather quickly, and once I entered my phone number for my reward program, I found my own transaction to go quickly, too. I appreciate the mirrors along the back wall which show you if there is anyone in a given aisle. The W Cash Rewards program is a free program to sign up for and easy to use. You earn back 1% in Walgreens Cash rewards storewide, even at the pharmacy, and 5% in rewards on Walgreens branded products. There are also sales prices automatically unlocked and other savings coupons where you can earn reward dollars by making a purchase after selecting a given coupon. Sometimes the coupons are on a receipt from your most recent purchase. You can also find other coupons on the app or the website (or in a booklet or ad when you arrive at the store). While I do not frequent Walgreens as often as other drug stores, I often wonder why when I happen to visit a Walgreens store as it's so easy to shop there and my experiences are often very pleasant. read more

The Walgreens at Tatum and Shea location is the worse pharmacy I have ever set foot on. They don't listen. They are incompetent. They never have even the basic medication in stock. My insurance is making me to use them otherwise I will Never go to Walgreens. There is this one girl there that is so annoying she talks, talks, talks and talks and refuses to listen. Everybody who goes there has to endure hearing about her mother problems!!! I have been trying to get my BP medication for a month. They have made confusion for my doctors and after a month and 3 times my doctor send them the prescription I still do not have the medication. I was on hold for 2 hrs before I got to speak to anyone. I had my medication which was ready to be picked up by one Walgreens transferred to another Walgreens because I wasn't able to pick it up from the first Walgreens. I was told by the second Walgreens they were transferring it and had it in stock. Go to pick it up, come to find out they didn't have it in stock and don't have it for two more days, I have no insulin and my blood sugar is up. I could have called other Walgreens to see if they had it, my insulin is hard to find. So now I have to go two days with a blood sugar of 200 plus. The Walgreen's at Thompson Peak Pkwy and Scottsdale Road is great. They did have a pharmacist walk-out that was unexpected and caused me to make two trips to pick up a script but I understand the pharmacists concerns. It does seem Walgreen's, as a company, is having a lot of problems and they may go under. Their stock is certainly in trouble. Sad to see an old and trusted company fail. read more

I had a very important narcotic prescription ready for pickup for my dog at the 70th st. and E. Shea in Scottsdale, Az. This was very urgent for my dog's life. I received an email that stated that Saturday, May 17 is temporarily closed. Reason: staff shortage. Meanwhile I called and they stated that I could transfer my prescription to another pharmacy. I called 6501 E. Greenway and that pharmacy tech stated that they do not transfer prescriptions that are narcotics. Told me to call vet for a new prescription. Problem: vet is closed until Monday. Told me to go to another vet and get a prescription from them. Problem: They will charge me for a visit, because they would like to see dog first. I will never have a prescription filled again using Walgreens pharmacy. It's concerning that they can't keep pharmacists. Walgreens is unreliable in the least. Bad experience! Will never go to Walgreens again! I needed a 9 Volt battery for a garage clicker. Walgreens had one (their own brand with 2 9-Volt batteries) that clearly stated $5.09 / Save $11. It was a close-out - last chance sale and the actual price was ~$16. I waited 5 minutes on line before a young man came and opened up another register. He scans it and it comes up as $11 and change. I told him what the sticker said and his co-worker working the next register suggested it may need a phone number. The sticker did not say anything about being a member to get the discount. The clerk at the register had no customer service skills whatsoever. He did not go to check the tag which was only a few steps from the register. I politely told him I was not paying that much. He insisted it probably needed a phone number and did very little investigating before moving on to the next customer. Afterwards, I went to look at the tag to make sure I was correct in what I saw and told the clerk and I was. I then told the clerk at the register while he was with another customer that I felt there may be an error somewhere. He could care less. His eyes were empty. There was nothing there. He did not offer to correct or investigate the matter. I went to Fry's down the road and was able to get an Energizer battery way cheaper! Walgreens is way overpriced. I will never understand people that fill up shopping carts of items and go to the check out. They can get all that same merchadise at half the price. The store is rundown unfortunately I have to use the store now because my insurance is not covered at CVS which I love to and love their staff and their service which was phenomenal. Absolutely the worst pharmacy ever. The staff is beyond rude, act like they hate their jobs, and never fill a prescription on time. Don't mess with a mom who struggles every month to get her daughters reflux medication filled on time. They NEVER order it even after I call to fill. I called today after asking them IN PERSON 3 days ago to have this ready in a few days because we're getting low and called today and it's not ready. I've been having the same medication filled every month for 6 months. Not once have they ever had it for me on time without me calling and battling with them to get it. I have a disability and I was picked on by a young impatient cashier at this particular Walgreens. I believe the older lady that works there, Jennifer, also has a disability. She was chastised because she was moving too slow. The American Disabilities Act exists for a reason. I warn any consumer with a handicap to please steer clear of this Walgreens at 7011 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale, Az. Side note: If this Walgreens would have had two cash registers opened, this incident would not have happened to us. I was actually accused of "buying too much" because this lead kid didn't want to open up another cash register. I even allowed a couple of other people to go ahead of me in line. The young kid that was working told Jennifer to take a break because "he was going to get me out of there." Obviously implying that she was moving too slow. She didn't need a break & I liked her. She was kind to me. This kid that pushed her out of the way kept trying to interrupt my sale by taking other customers that were behind me. Literally interrupting my order, in the middle, to put them in front of me! He said the customers behind me "weren't happy because I was buying too much." So I offered to pay it forward to the lady behind me, and pay for her order in full on my tab, because I got frustrated with Willie constantly trying to stop my order to take other people in the middle of mine. Then, out of the blue, Willie called police on me & accused me of being sarcastic because I said "maybe that will make you happy." Willie also lied to the officers by telling them that he was afraid of me when I refused to leave his store after he refused to finish ringing up my order in full, without anymore interruptions. I complained my credit card company was going to flag my credit card for fraud with all of the stop & start sales he was trying to put on my card. I called my daughter, and an off duty Phoenix police officer associate I know when Willie told an officer on the phone that he was scared of me. He also told them he didn't like me calling other people on my cell phone for help. This situation is so unbelievable. How is Willie able to handle life? I sincerely believe Walgreens needs to invest in getting Willie some counceling or coping skills. Especially customer service skills. When I told Willie I was sincerely paying for the Latina lady behind me, he made a such a big deal of it. I do some behind the scenes volunteer work to help police officers & adult probation. I was a waitress for 23 years. I know how to conduct myself in a professional manner. I called my daughter & her boyfriend to come to the Walgreens to finish buying my items. But Willie wouldn't allow them to buy the items 'because they knew me.' Instead, Willie banned them from shopping at Walgreens for a year by declaring upon them a trespassing law by being "guilty by association." My daughter & her BF live in SC. They have never stepped foot into this Walgreens until I called them for help. Now, because of Willies lies to the police, my daughter & her boyfriend are now banned from shopping at Walgreens for a year. Unbelievable. Some of the items I was buying from Walgreens were medical needs for my 87 year old mother. I explained this to Willie and he said that "he didn't care." I was shocked. And I simply don't know why Willie would lie to the police by telling them he was afraid of me. I have a bad back. I could barely stand, especially being as tired as I was, and Willie was afraid of me? He definitely has no management skills & clearly does NOT like his job. My boss actually owned a Walgreens in Wa and is able to help me find out who the owner of this Walgreens is. My boss also told me Walgreens are in trouble and he was glad that he had sold his Walgreens because sales are drastically dwindling in many locations. With employees like Willie in charge of Walgreens, it's no wonder some stores are doing poorly. I think this kid might be part of a bigger problem that is purposely trying to kill sales at certain Walgreens locations. I had $800 - $900 worth of items in my cart. At the very least, consumers need to be protected from the abuse of this kid at the Scottsdale, Az location. It's very sad to me the disrespect I endured from Willie. I also witnessed him disrespecting the other older lady cashier, Jennifer. I'd also like to add that I heard Willie talking down to another older gentleman that worked there. Several times I heard Willie tell the older man that he needed to wear a white shirt. It was actually overkill the way Willie was talking to this gentleman. I felt sorry for the older man that Willie was talking to in a belittling manner. These employees seemed intimidated by Willie's lead position over them. Perhaps this will be one of the Walgreen locations that gets shut down too? Since this incident happened, I went a mile down the street to shop at CVS. I filled my grocery cart to the brim there. In the times we are in we all need a bit more patience. I go out of my way to use this specific Walgreens pharmacy. I do so because they work their tails off and are friendly despite staffing challenges and changes in regulations and protocol. As an example, due to a shortage in a medicine recently prescribed to me, the pharmacy indicated it was on backlog without an idea of when it would be available. The pharmacy tech, Stirling, who was extremely busy at the time, committed to calling multiple locations in the area and promised to call me when he found it. Sure enough, he called me less than an hour later to say he found the medication within 20 miles of my home. I was able to pick up the prescription shortly there after! Attempted to change pharmacies as this one is closer to my house. Bad idea. I first called to see when I could pick up my prescription. A robot told me it would be ready in two days. I expected a call or something. Nope. So I called. They said to come in. I wait 20 minutes while every customer is making faces at each other amazed at how poor the service is. I finally get to the front of the line and they say they need more info from an insurance card that I haven't been sent yet. So I go home and find said info online. Call them back and they say they don't work with my insurance despite all documentation online explicitly listing them. So now I wait another 3 hours while another pharmacy across town calls them to get it transferred. Pharmacist with a man bun had horrible customer service and seemed like he was hating his job as he pissed off everyone who he served. Avoid this place if you can. I don't even know where to start with this one... I pulled up to the store about 10 minutes to open and was greeted by a gentleman walking in who rudely informed me that they weren't open yet. When I told him I just needed to grab something urgent he was very apathetic and told me no. I got back in my car and had a mild freak out. Regardless of my actions in the privacy of my car, I wasn't once rude to the employee. When I pulled out of the parking space I accidentally stepped on my gas a little to hard. His response to me was "SLOW DOWN BITCH". I will NEVER attempt to shop here again. After this incident I was contacted by management. And, I'll have to figure out on Monday WTF is going on with the refill errors on two additional meds that are not ready today as expected. I've literally been waiting for 1/2 hour to pick up my prescription and gave up so left and pulled around drive thru. Ridiculous-I know sometimes it gets busy, but please WALGREENS invest in some customer service training. The store personnel is customer service oriented and helpful, but pharmacy is consistently poor every time I visit, doesn't matter when. You walk up and no one even acknowledges you. Every time an order was called in, I'd show up much later and it wouldn't filled and I'd end up waiting in a long line of angry customers all complaining about the same thing or complaining about a mix up.
