Unfortunately we didn't know when candle making classes were but the owners were able to do a special class for us since we had 6 girls hoping to make candles. They told them about the history of Banner Ell which I found interesting (the kids didn't remember all of it) and some of the names of the scents. All of the ingredients (soy based wax and scents) were all natural and didn't bother my allergies or nose so that was a huge bonus. All the girls had fun, my youngest was SO excited they had an elephant vessel she could use to make a candle! We would definitely recommend stopping by to visit when you're in the area. Everyone was super nice and all the girls from ages 7-17 had fun! (Adults could also join in if they wanted of course, but we sat back and let the girls do it this time, FYI the prices seemed to range from $38-45 per person for the candles they made which included the class.) You do have to wait 2-3 hours for them to cool and set before you can take them home. I think the regular classes are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11am so you can sign up (call or sign up online I believe), come make your candles and then go grab a leisurely lunch or go shopping and come back to pick them up. I had my very first appointment with Kim last week and it was wonderful! Kim was patient, kind, professional, and she explained the procedure and areas which may be more sensitive. She even let me watch a movie on my phone to keep myself occupied during the procedure. I had my original consultation with Kim as well, she was very sweet and quelled all my concerns about tolerating the laser. She did a test pulse on my leg, which was not as bad as I had imagined. After that, I was able to relax when it came time for the actual treatment. The staff here is wonderful and very friendly. The cost for the laser hair removal treatments were reasonably priced and I was even able to get more areas done than originally planned. He talked to us about our skin concerns and offered a lot of advice on their products. You could tell that Drew loves working here and helping others. The soaps and candles here are handcrafted in this shop and make great souvenirs to take home to friends and family or for yourself. My husband bought and is currently using their soaps for shaving, and I have a candle in my home office. The items aren't cheap, but they are a good value for a local, handmade product. Drew also gave us some coupons to use on the website in case we want to order more products in the future. We love coming to local shops like this when we travel, so we'll be back the next time we're in Asheville.

We were all excited to check this honey store out. In the back they have a very cool tasting table. There are over ten different kinds of honey to try. I loved that you could taste test things before making purchases. It was awesome to see how different each one tasted. My group and I had a blast here. They had everything from bottles of honey, honey sticks, bee pollen, honey supplies, and more. I ended up buying a beautiful bottle of the sourwood and a few honey sticks in fireweed and meadowfoam. They have their own locally sourced honey including Sourwood and Wildflower, and some sourced varieties from out of state, including Tupelo from Florida and the Chicory and Meadowfoam from the Pacific NW. They even carry Lehua from Hawaii and Fireweed from Alaska! There's also infused flavors like coffee, ghost pepper, chai, lavender, vanilla bean, and more. And the best part? You can try them all!
