We hired Walker Architecture to build our restaurant from scratch. It was a gut renovation and included a lot of engineering work and a complete new commercial kitchen. As a Woodstock Town Councilman, I have worked with the Walkers' on 2 municipal projects, our Town Highway Garage and our Community Center. They are gifted at listening to the needs and desires of all the different groups involved and transforming that into a workable plan that met our budget. 12 years ago Lester Walker designed a house in Big Indian, NY, for me and my wife. He was amazing and we are the beneficiaries of his fantastic judgement and experience. He did an amazing thing: he asked us questions and listened and then actually incorporated our answers into his decision-making process. He was diligent and smart about utilities and sensitive to our budget. Three things that we have not encountered in an architect since. He helped us see the home site with a perspective that we hadn't perceived, and his insight made the house the amazing place that we love today. read more
