After that, they took the time to schedule a free estimate, during which they even caulked some obvious but small holes in my roof, free of charge! Finally they started work three days after completing a very reasonable quote. They showed up early and worked effectively and efficiently to finish the work the same day! They took time to show me exactly what they were doing, and took great pictures and video in case I missed anything. I cannot wait to use MCN again for my next project! Structural engineer said that they had opened my house up to major potential water damage due to cut gutters that were left. They also cut a major structural beam to the house. Debris was not removed daily or weekly as stated in the contract and the property was a mess. In addition all of this cost me valuable time and money. Contract signed end of October. Neal Rose, the owner, never provided an official quote for my build and solicited me to provide upfront costs on a credit card to do preliminary excavation. I get the feeling this is an excavator trying to become a builder. He provided references but all three turned out to be business associates that raved about him. He could not provide addresses that I could visit to see his work. He only provided pictures in text messages. He did visit the site with an excavator on his own nickel "to see if there were large rocks in the ground". That resulted in two six foot deep holes on my lot that will have to be backfilled. Then suddenly when I suggested we use a local excavator to do some preliminary clearing to achieve a location for the house (instead of giving him $18,000 on a credit card) he immediately quit the project via a text message. Didn't have the guts to talk about it on the phone I guess. Home planners beware.

It felt as though the company may have assumed I wasn't serious about the project or didn't have the budget -- a disappointing and unfair assumption if that was the case. Regardless, the lack of professionalism and basic communication was unacceptable.
