Many Thanks to Walker's Drugs September 19, 2025 My husband Richard grew up in his father's pharmacy business of three stores...and then he also became a pharmacist for 47 years. However, big chain pharmacies moved into that Philadelphia suburban area and the family business was all gone within 10 years. Next, Richard and I moved to Florida and he worked for five different chain drug stores in seven years... Then one by one they also went bankrupt! Finally, when Richard turned forty, we moved to Lombard, Illinois where he attended the National College of Chiropractic. He loved it and became a fine chiropractor. Then we moved back to Florida where he had his practice for seventeen years, also taught biology in college for seven years, and continued to work part-time in pharmacy, too. I was a teacher and also took care of our children and elderly parents... In 2007, Richard retired at age 67 due to health reasons. We moved to a retirement community for seven years in Indian Trail, North Carolina to be closer to our grown children and their families. Then in 2019, Richard was diagnosed with a very rare and painful cancer. We sold our home and moved into an apartment at the Carriage Club in Charlotte, N.C. Within three months, Richard passed on peacefully there in a Skilled Nursing Facility with hospice care. I continued to remain in my Carriage Club apartment for six years... Since I could no longer drive, I needed medications delivered to me. And I knew that the pharmacy industry had changed so much over the years--Then other residents at the Carriage Club urged me to use the independent store named Walker's Pharmacy in Cottswald. Walker's provided simply marvelous service! And EVERYONE was so kind and caring, too! I continued to use Walker's Drug Store for over six years. I have truly been very pleased with Walker's excellent pharmaceutical care and delivery service. The pharmacists and lab assistants have all been very helpful and could clearly explain any questions that needed answering. Walker's also has a daily dispensing system called Pack-My-Meds which is easy to use and is delivered every month right to my apartment door. Their drivers are also very kind, friendly, and courteous. Good independent pharmacies are hard to find these days. One could not find a better one than the Walker's Pharmacy on Colwyk Rd. And it is also right around the corner near Publix, in case anyone wants to grocery shop and also need a good pharmacy store nearby. Now I am moving into an Assisted Living Facility in New Jersey to be near my son, who is a doctor, and his wife and four children. I did not want to move from Charlotte without leaving my many thanks and recommendation for the wonderful quality care that I received from all the fine people at Walker's Pharmacy. Lucas helped me out so much! Our pharmacy closed and some prescriptions were transferred to Walker's. He called the Doctor's office and got them to send the others over immediately so that my parent's monthly drug package could be filled the same day. Just offering packaged drugs for the elderly who are unable to take daily pills on their own is an amazing and helpful service anyways. It allows the seniors to still have the freedom to live on their own. Lucas delivered the package to our door, going above and beyond!!! read more

Ryan helped me out tremendously yesterday! I needed a prescription filled and they didn't have the medication in stock, so Ryan found a nearby pharmacy, transferred my prescription and I was able to pick it up without missing a dose! Very grateful to this team- very caring, friendly and professional! Our family has been a loyal customer of Walker Drugs at Cotswold for over 20 years and this is one of the reasons why! They took a delivery fee without delivering my meds. I had to take an Uber there. I was not satisfied with the service at all.

Small but very customer oriented. Great Value Have to get cataract surgery in a couple of weeks and had my last checkup and measurements at Horizon Eye Care this morning. As part of the preadmissions procedure, they gave me three prescriptions and a office sample of one of the eye drops along with some coupons for those same eye drops. They had already called over the Walker's with the prescription with the explanation that the big box pharmacies charged $320-$330 for the eye drops and Dr. Krug had worked out a deal where Walker's would fill it for only $35 with coupon. I like to save money so SOLD. I walked in and realized that this was the same pharmacist that my allergist sent me too back in the 1970's for hard to get prescriptions. Everyone was very helpful, All three prescriptions were ready and we were in and out of the store in under 10 minutes. That said, if we had not stopped in considering that we live 25 miles away on Lake Norman, they would have called, taken the insurance information and shipped them to us. Lo and behold, when we got home, there was a message from Walker's from shortly after the got the script asking for said information so they could process the order. I don't get this level of service at my regular pharmacy. Too bad they are so far away otherwise they would be my preferred pharmacy. read more

BEWARE! In the wake of the CORONAVIRUS everyone is preparing by getting supplies necessary before things get crucial. After a few stops around town with no luck, I thought to try independent shops for any luck. I decided to call here and ask a few questions before making a 15 min drive. The caller assured she had a supply of a new box of 20 mask and an opened box. Not sure why it was open but people do plunder. It couldn't be held but on a first come serve basis. I was on my way. Get there and she reveals a box of mouth mask more suitable for N95 3M painting and outdoor landscaping. She proceeds to asks how many I need as it was for myself, mom, and sister. As I look I see small text about cost per mask and cost of the box. She tells me $10 a mask and $200 for a full box. Are you kidding me!? Be smart people and don't be fools! They aren't trying to help but making profit at any cost. Protect yourself, family, and elders from this SCAM. read more

I have my parents in town with me who are from out of state. Unfortunately due to the recent outbreak i felt it was best they stayed here with me until it was safe to go home since they are both elderly. I called Walkers in a panic because my dads prescriptions needed to be refilled. The staff was incredibly helpful and reassured me not to worry and that they'd have his meds ready for him that day! They provided counseling about the meds to make sure he understood how to use them. We were even given 5 FREE masks in the event we needed to travel and protect ourselves. I am blown away by this pharmacy, not only by their professionalism but their courtesy and swift service. Thank you to the entire Walkers staff!!! read more

From the time I called to get directions at near closing time, to friendly greeting as I walked in the front door, including a welcome from pharmacy manager Kavel, everyone gave top notch excellent customer service! We have had a great experience at Walker's Drug Store. The entire staff has gone above, and beyond to help with our prescription needs. We had a situation in the evening, where a medicine was spilled. Reba was quick to assist us in taking care of the situation. Chi went above and beyond, having to reach out to the doctor for authorization, and then dealing with our insurance company on an early refill. This little neighborhood drug store is tucked away in the Cotswald neighborhood just down the street from the Pizza Peel. I used to shop here and get RXs filled here when I worked in the area. Employees are very friendly and helpful. While the store is nothing on the scale of a CVS, Riteaid or Walgreen's, you can find greeting cards, medical supplies, vitamins & supplements and a limited selection of other drug-store items. read more

Having lived in Cotswold since 1996, I've been a longtime Walker's Drug Store customer..... For probably 21 of the past 23 years, I would have rated Walker's with Five Stars. Unfortunately, they have taken a turn for the worse the past couple of years and began to routinely "short" my prescriptions without notice. I've called to have all of my prescriptions refilled the past couple of years and gotten confirmation that they are ready for pickup....only to show up and find out that Walkers didn't bother to get a full month's supply of the most critical med I take and they have shorted my prescription refill. That was understandable the first time it occurred, but when it became routine I realized that the old Walker's Drug that I knew no longer existed. The neighborhood pharmacy that I had purposely struggled to support (despite CVS being willing to fill/ deliver my prescriptions for a 3 month period/ for a cheaper price), has lost their best feature- caring about their customers. I wish Walker's the best and hope they return to the neighborhood pharmacy level of service that they once had.... read more

What a little gem in the middle of Charlotte! This is not your ordinary pharmacy. Do not go here expecting that you'll be able to do your grocery shopping, wine shopping, beer shopping etc. This is predominantly a pharmacy that sells pharmaceutical products and medical supplies. However the staff is extremely friendly and the owner moves around like a Jack rabbit making sure all customers are taken care of. During my 1st visit, their Internet was down because of some local Construction cutting the cable.They were unable to fill the prescription because they Could not connect to their server through no fault of theirs. The owner immediately called one of his sister companies and had it arranged for the prescription to be filled there. I am so glad that I found this place because I am a big believer in local business. Any other place would have told me to come-back at a later time. read more

I've been going to Walker's on Colwick for nearly twenty years. I receive monthly prescriptions for my type 1 diabetes as well a blood pressure etc. meds. They just are the best on a routine basis. Recently I was having an insurance problem that was going to cost me a lot of money. They figured out a workaround that took the payment down to my usual co-pay. I didn't ask for that they stepped in and volunteered to help. They've done countless good neighbor gestures for the duration. Simply the best. read more

I had no idea that Walker's Drugstore was right here across from Cotswold Mall! My doctor in this area sent me to Walkers. Walker's filled my two prescriptions faster than any chain store ever has. They very bad at communicating with each other in the store because I called and had my prescription filled for my dog and the clerk said it would be ready by 12PM but when I came they said they don't fill prescription on the weekend and holiday. So I have to wait for another 30 mins for they to fix his prescription when I live on the other side of town. read more

Service at Walker's is superior to any big box store or chain, Fast service is provided by the adequate and well trained staff, and in price comparisons Walker's beats the big chains quite a bit. This is a professional pharmacy as opposed to the chains who have Pharmacy as a sideline. I am a retired Pharmacist and will tell you that this is where you should get your prescriptions filled. Leave the grass seed and Easter candy to the chains, but depend on professional Pharmacist for your health needs. read more

I decide I wanted a change from the drugstore I was using. It was frustrating to be a regular client and they still did not know me or would misspell my name when asking. I saw a lot of turn over and wanted something that seemed stable and friendly. Well, riding down Colwick Road one day I spotted Walker Drugs. I have never looked back. From the minute I became established there, they are super friendly, know me when I walk in. If I have a question about a medication, all are helpful. But one day I walked in and I knew I needed something additional to what my doctor called in as had chest congestion ongoing. I told the gentleman at the counter my situation and he called over one of the Pharmacy managers, named Kavel. Super nice and so helpful. He suggested an over the counter medication that would help along with my prescription and explained actually his wife was having the same difficulty. My point, he took the time, was very concerned, and above all, he listened. I am much better now also. So if you want great service from the counter, to the Pharmacy tech, and the actual Pharmacist, I highly recommend Walker Drugs on Colwick Road. Great hours and they have home delivery. Be careful about buying any prescription at Walker's that must be refrigerated. My vet called in an liquid antibiotic to Walker's for my sick cat. I picked it up the next day and they told me that it needed to be refrigerated. I noticed that they pulled it off the rack and it was clearly unrefrigerated. I assumed it was OK. It wasn't. My cat developed a severe bacterial infection within hours of the dosage. The side of his throat swelled to 3x its normal size. This was totally unrelated to what my cat was being treating for that required an antibiotic. I spent over $700 at the vet trying to stop the infection caused by the tainted medicine from Walker's at Cotswold. read more

The staff is amazing! I have been going back and forth for almost two weeks trying to get my diabetes medication with another large retail pharmacy and they were charging me over $300 for a co-pay! My Dr's office called and asked if I would mind if they sent the rx to another local pharmacy because they believed the other pharmacy was processing my rx incorrectly. I agreed wanting to start my medication as soon as possible. The pharmacist from Walker's called me less than and hour later, and over the phone within less than two minutes took all of my information, got my medication approved for a ZERO co-pay and had the over $300 dollar co-pay applied to my deductible. He was extremely pleasant and patient, and when I went into to pharmacy to pick up my medication, the pharmacist greeted me with a huge smile, the staff was extremely pleasant and they got me in and out without any hassle. I have been singing their praises ever since, and I have been recommending them to everyone I know! read more
