We stopped here twice this week as we were heading to the west coast and on the way back east. On the way west, we scouted what they had as we were just getting ready to eat lunch at the restaurant next door. They have a bit of everything --both fruits and veggies. And pretty much what you'd need if you were cooking -- or bringing a gift. I especially liked the blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. All the berries were gorgeously colored and looked like a photograph. The local strawberries were available by the half flat as well as the pint. We, however, fell in love with the beautiful beefsteak Ruskin tomatoes. On the way home, we got some red ripe ones (for salads and sandwiches) and some green ones (with which to make fried green tomatoes). We haven't had the green ones yet, but we sliced one large one as soon as we got home, added crispy bacon and mayo between two slices of white toast. Oh my. So delicious! Just what a tomato should really taste like. Now we regret not buying a few more... But we will know where to stop next time we are driving through town.., read more

This stand has been around quite a while offering fresh fruit and vegetables for locals and traveling tourists. We stopped for lunch early at an adjacent Catfish Restaurant and decided to look around before eating. Lots of local shoppers and their families. Beautiful arrangement of veggies and "SugarSweet" fruits throughout. We will be stopping back on our return trip south for some Dutch made Apple Butter and some Ruskin Beefsteak tomatoes! read more

Walker's is the place I come to get all my produce when I need to restock on groceries. They're open 7 days a week which is super clutch compared to other produce stands. They have a great selection for being a smaller produce stand. I can find just about everything I'd want here- from potatoes to peppers to farm fresh eggs to mangoes to plums to tomatoes. There's a big shelf full of jams, jellies, salsas and the like as well. They also have homemade breads like banana bread and pineapple bread that I often end up splurging on, but it always worth it. The workers here are typically pretty friendly as well. But all in all you really can't beat the prices. I can get a bulk of produce that will last me at least 2 weeks for around $20 consistently. Compared to the average grocery store, plus better quality of really fresh produce, it's a win win. read more

Ha, well honestly I am of mixed feelings on this little farm stand. I love the proximity. I do like the assortment. Wish they had organic, but oh well. Prices are decent. Staff, eh not entirely friendly or, well, rather have odd social skills. I asked a question about whether the eggs they had were local and after the woman stopped, looked me up and down 3 x like i was purple with polka dots, just said, I guess so and just walked away. Same day all 3 employees were too busy staring at phones and in their own heads to notice the long line forming at the registers. I didn't say anything because the man in front of me did it for us and got pretty upset with them but not in a bad way and they were all very surly and unprofessional right back to him. I was rather surprised. We have so many choices of where to get produce and I am sure I am not the only one giving them my business to support local. My last visit, the girl was on the phone and not paying any attention to me or what I was trying to say to her. Then when I got the receipt, I noticed there is a $2.09 admin fee to pay with a card. Hmmm.....I might just make this an incase of emergency stop from now on. read more

Picked up a flat of strawberries. Unfortunately wasn't able to use many of them. I would be willing to guess about 50% at most was edible. The remaining were rotten, moldy, or even frozen previously and thawed mushy. The size of them were so small as well, the only decent sized ones were the bad ones. Extremely disappointed at the quality of these strawberries. Should've just made the drive to Plant City to get fresh strawberries. I love this little produce stand! And it's more than just produce! They've got canned goodies like jellies and jams, and they have honey and a few extra little bits. Their prices are pretty great. I've never spent over $30 and not had a trunk full of fruits and veggies. The selection is hit or miss. Now, they've always got tons of stuff but keep it mind, even though it's Florida, some things are still seasonal. Also, it's true that not everyone working there is the most perky and friendly, but I've never had anyone who was actually rude. They're just working. We stopped by Walker's Farm Fresh Produce on our way traveling. What a wonderful market to buy fresh produce. The Ruskin tomatoes that we purchased were the best we have ever tasted and the pricing was so reasonable. The store was so neat and beautifully displayed with care. The owner that helped us with our other choices was so kind and so helpful. We also had lunch at the Catfish Country Restaurant next-door and enjoyed ourselves so much. Next time we are in the area, we will certainly stop. A true treasure in Florida to visit. read more

I really like the quality and variety of produce that Walker's has. I was surprised to see that they still had Plant City Strawberries over the weekend! The last few times I have purchased blueberries they haven't been up to specification - somewhat bitter. I can only give 3 stars because the staff does not wear masks and I wish they would comply with the CDC guidelines on that. read more

This market is next to Catfish Country Restaurant. It has a wide selection of fruits, vegetables and seasonal items (pumpkins, strawberries, melons). It has a cold case of some more fragile items and often has small loaves of homemade bread, honey, jams. Shoppers who know their prices & harvest seasons will do better. Sometimes items appear to be "old". They do have a $1 table for very ripe items with a "buy 2, get 2 free" generous philosophy. They often have more choices (2 kinds of avocadi or eggplants), many times they have Mexican type items (cactus, tomatillos). The people are friendly & helpful. This is my favorite fresh produce stop due to the variety. The ground is uneven earth so be careful! read more

Today was the second time we have shopped there, my husband didn't like it after the first time he said he just didn't have a good feeling about the place... and for a retired Navy Vet I should have listened to him!!! I had him stop there for me, but he wouldn't even get out of the car with me. I am disabled but really wanted a watermelon and a couple of things we can't get at our local produce market, so I picked one out... no one bothered to help me even though everyone could see I clearly needed help. I picked one out and carried it up to the counter so I knew which one was mine, I didn't see the sign that said "don't put your items up here until ready, carry them around" well I couldn't carry a huge watermelon around, I couldn't even carry a basket with a few items around, so I would just bring a couple things up at a time... it wasn't busy, in fact when I got there I was the only customer there. When I checked out a few more came in, but not busy by no means, when I put the watermelon on the counter I heard the women behind the counter loudly say to another worker in front of me "I guess customers CAN'T read our signs!" I didn't realize she was talking about me until I went to pay and saw the sign she was talking about. I apologized to her, but she didn't say a word back instead just had a sour look toward me. I also asked her about cantaloupe and honeydew's I had over heard her talking about, and where to find them... instead of showing me, she just stuck her finger up and said they're up front. I still couldn't find them in the direction she pointed so I had to ask someone else, turns out they weren't there, there were on the opposite side. I wasn't trying to get into anyone's way, but I clearly needed help and didn't receive it... instead I got talked about right in front of me. POOR customer service! read more
