We visited for Friday lunch watching the pros go round as we ate well cooked and presented steaks, which were priced fairly and cooked to order. Washed down with quality wine from an extensive wine list, it was a pleasant day hidden away from the rat race outside the gates. It has recently won awards as a wedding and function venue, worth a visit.

The Town Hall is the main customer service centre for the councils and is open Mon - Fri from 8.30 to 5pm. The building itself was opened in back in 1883 and is similar in style to many other town hall buildings like the Adelaide and Glenelg Town Halls. While the oldest section of the Town Hall fronts onto The Parade, the section behind extends into George Street and is actually a large concert hall and performance venue. Back in the 1880 when it was first opened, a prestigious art school where the likes of Hans Heysen studied was located upstairs in the Town Hall's commercial offices. The Norwood Town Hall has been lovingly cared for over the years and is still a formidable building among the sites of the Parade. While everything has changed around it this elegant building has remained proudly unchanged.

I visited the customer service section once, for on street parking permits. And my albeit brief encounter was A-ok: friendly staff, easy process. I had pictured it kind of like "Parks and Recreation" but it wasn't really...but I can't hold that against it. More often though, I've visited the Hall for the regular sample and designer clearance sales. (I think this says more about me than the Norwood Council though). Every so often designers will hold their sales in the huge old concert hall you enter via the side. It's a perfect venue for it, with a huge space for the racks and racks of clothing, makeshift change rooms (warning: you will get partially undressed in front of a bunch of other girls) and registers. The interior is as old school as the iconic exterior suggests: it's a lovely building and addition to the local flavour.

Actually, these days, now that the developers have got their ugly claws into the foreshore, this is probably the best access to the beach. However, considering the popularity of the place, and the ease of access, this place certainly gets really, really packed at times, especially on New Years Eve. Yeah, it is actually the most touristy part of Adelaide, despite the fact that the beach is sort of, kinda, the worst in the city. Then again, if you love crowds, then this is certainly the place to be.

It was like a competition for who could wear the shortest shorts and keep a straight face whilst doing it, which must be a hard task with the seat of their shorts wedged that far up their ass. There is a fountain in the middle where jets of water shoot up from the ground, a lot of children like to run around through this weird sprinkler system, its quite adorable. I saw a drunken man stumbling in there a while back though, it seems he had had one too many at the Dublin...that's not a shower, sir. Fun for the kids, great for a drink and the girls actually ask you to stare at their rear asset.

The number of wedding processions pulling out of the Ayer's House driveway should be enough proof of this. The glass conservatory building around the side of the house is where you'll be for functions, and its impressive to say the least. The table decorations are impeccable, the interior decor is beautifully crafted, and everything is planned to perfection. I came here for a school formal once, and whilst it was very nice and fancy at the beginning of the evening, the kids lifted the roof on the dance floor. Whilst its appearance might put out a quiet, dainty character, once enough PAs are put into this place, it goes off! As John has pointed out, this isn't a walk-in establishment, and is only catered for private functions and big events. This place always seems to have something going on, so its advised that you book in advance.

I wouldn't necessarily say that it is impressive, not compared to some churches that I've visited, but for a cathedral in Australia, it still isn't all that bad.

Port Adelaide is one of those regions of South Australia that has a lot of history behind it. The…read morerather well known lighthouse is a big part of that history. The lighthouse is located right next to the Fisherman's Wharf Markets and when you've been through the markets it's worth paying the tiny fee of $1 (50c for kids) to climb up and have a look out over the city. Personally, when I climbed up for the first time the main thing I noticed was how flat Adelaide really is, especially when compared to cities like Melbourne where a lot of walking up and down streets is required. It's not something you'll want to be doing every week, as obviously it's the same view every time. For the price though, you may as well go along and experience a piece of South Australian history.

This one represents the link between Victoria Square and the local Aboriginal people. The location in the center of town was once the place for Aboriginal ceremonies and dances, called Tarndanyangaa. During WW II several tribes came together transforming the square as a place for Aboriginal cultural activities again. 1971, Victoria Square was the unveiling site for the Australian Aboriginal Flag. Which flies in Reconciliation Plaza in the Square. Victoria Square continues to be that gathering spot for social, political, and historical matters. As the time I visited- it was hosting the Christmas Market. The over the top lighted tree, carolers, and market vendors. A beautiful park in the city to take in the history, statues, fountain and green grass lawn on a warm December day. Or any day.

The square was named in 1837 after Princess Victoria, then heir presumptive of the British throne. This busy square has a large 3 rivers fountain and many statues. Located in the center of the square is a statue honouring Queen Victoria from a model by Birch, unveiled in 1894. at the northern end of the square, The State Survey Mark commemorates the first peg for the survey of the City by Colonel Light in 1837. The east-west road connecting Grote & Wakefield Streets was named Reconciliation Plaza in 2013. The plaza hosts two flagpoles flying the Australian National Flag and the Aboriginal Flag, which has flown permanently in the square since 2002.

Adelaide Studios at Glenside is the new home of the South Australian Film Corporation. Having just…read morerelocated from their Hendon base, this shiny new facility is located on the site of the old Glenside hospital. The Adelaide Studios houses two sound stages, a swag of production offices and facilities, state of the art Sound Mixing Theatre , ADR and Foley studios and a 96 seat theatrette. The SA Film Corp also runs funding programs and initiatives for those wanting to get their film, TV or web project up and running. While the Adelaide Studios aren't open to the public they recently held an Open Day and attracted huge crowds so they're sure to run another very soon.
