I liked Lexi, the vet tech, who listened carefully while I explained my concerns. The tech trainees were also friendly, attentive, and careful when handling Mr. Hunter. Dr. Hasco was great -- very friendly, gentle, and I appreciated how he listened, carefully, to understand our concerns and Mr. Hunter's symptoms. In the end, treatment was minimal and seemingly effective and he's back with mom and doing fine but the visit offered some assurance and peace of mind while I had custody of Mr. Hunter. Finally, this is a veterinarian without pretense -- unlike, perhaps, some more fancy offices closer to Camp Hill (Im thinking of Good Hope in particular). There's no free coffee or fireplace but there are small bottles of refrigerated water; instead, the office is comfortable, clean, and efficiently run. I do wish there was a way to divide for noisy animals versus quiet ones but otherwise no complaints.

While scrolling through local Easter events (as one does when trying to plan adult-level fun around…read morea busy schedule), I stumbled across something that immediately stopped me in my tracks -- an adults-only glow-in-the-dark egg hunt at Benchfield Farms. I didn't need much convincing. Tickets were only $10 per person, which honestly felt like a steal. I've definitely spent $10 on way worse things, so this was an easy "TAKE MY MONEY, I'M IN" moment. The ticket purchasing process was...let's call it grassroots. You text a number, tell them how many tickets you want, Venmo the money, and show up later. It worked, but it did take a second follow-up text to get a response, so I'd say an online ticketing system might make things smoother in the future. I arrived a little early to get a feel for the place before it got dark and was pleasantly surprised. Parking was easy, the property was open and welcoming, and check-in was simple -- just give your name and you're good to go. I stuck around to watch the teen glow hunt at 8pm, and it was actually really cool to see how it worked. Each egg had a little glowing orb inside, so once it got dark, the field lit up with glowing eggs scattered throughout the tall grass. It was honestly beautiful and way more visually fun than I expected. At 8:45pm, it was time for the adult group to gather -- and that's when things got even better. We started with games before the hunt, which I was not expecting and absolutely loved. We played four square (I did not win) and hot potato (also did not win), and I cannot tell you the last time I played either of those. There's something incredibly fun about a group of adults fully committing to childhood games -- lots of laughing, a little bit of competitive energy, and just an overall great vibe. Then it was time for the main event. By the time we lined up, it was completely dark out, with a clear sky full of stars -- honestly, the setting couldn't have been better. And then suddenly...we were off! Running through tall, wet grass in the dark, chasing glowing eggs like absolute children (but with slightly less cardio stamina). It was chaotic, hilarious, and SO much fun! There was laughing, shouting, people diving for eggs, and yes -- a little bit of huffing and puffing as adults quickly realized sprinting through a field at night is a choice. The hunt was timed, which added to the excitement, and once it wrapped up, we all headed back to the tent to open our eggs, snack on candy, and turn in prize tickets. And the prizes?! There were around 24-25 prizes available, which was way more than I expected. I ended up finding 13 eggs and even walked away with two prize tickets -- a very solid night's work, if I do say so myself. Everyone involved with the event was incredibly kind and genuinely seemed excited to have a bunch of adults out there running around their farm at night. The whole experience felt laid-back, well-paced, and just genuinely fun without being overproduced or stressful. This has easily been one of my favorite local events I've attended in a while. It was unique, affordable, easy to navigate, and full of those little moments that just make you smile. I'll absolutely be keeping an eye on Benchfield Farms for future events -- and you can bet I'll be grabbing a ticket for next year's glow hunt the second they go on sale.
