It's called "Wildflower for Buffalo" and was painted by Louise Jones back in 2018. It features a number flowers that are native to the region including red clover, coneflowers, burdock, chicory, Queen Anne's lace, thistle, lamb's quarters, swamp rose, and yarrow. The colors of the flowers are so vibrant and contrast so well with the light tan color of the building and especially the blue sky when it's a nice sunny day... like it was when I visited. I shared some photos to prove it. There is a little plaque on the wall that gives a little bit of information about it, which is a nice touch. I love to explore public art when I'm away from home and this piece it a beauty!

Many of the homes used to be (and with 9.1 residents per address statistically might still be) "doubles", homes that were divided front and back as two separate residences, often housing two or more generations. North of beautiful Olmstead-designed Cazenovia Park, Kaisertown embraces its Eastern European history with old world traditions like Beggar's Night (the night before Halloween) and Dyngus Day, the Monday after Easter. If you ever travel through or move there, have a good thought for former Meet the Press host Tim Russert, once a proud Kaisertown resident, and don't miss out on the Broadway Market just east of the nabe.

And a world reknown artist came to Buffalo to paint them for us. Part of the growing Albright outside art project, this is going up now. Kobra has murals worldwide. His collection of work is amazing. And he often focuses on people known for their humbleness. The Albright brought him to town, but he researched the ideas himself and arrived at this one. So come have a meal at Lombardos, get some free art while you are at it. Pretty awesome addition to Hertel.
