So lucky to have found this very quaint and inclusive coffee shop. The latte with oatmeal was very creamy. They don't have coconut milk, but have almond milk as another alternative. I especially loved the outside among the trees and a creek behind them where you can sit as well very spacious indoors as well, and there appears to be two stages for live music, indoor and outdoor. The only gluten-free item I saw was a peanut butter cookie. They do have veggie options. read more

I came across Waller's while looking for a coffee shop to work from for the day. At first, I was skeptical--the photos and videos online made the space look dated. But after seeing recent reviews (including some from people who'd worked there), I decided to give it a try. Pulling in, I was immediately turned off by the gravel parking lot. Once inside, the "dated" look was real, but I'll admit it had a certain charm. As a standalone coffee shop, it works--but for remote work, it's not the most practical. I only counted maybe 4 usable outlets in the entire space. I noticed an 86 health score posted at the door and almost skipped ordering. After checking into it, the violation was mostly due to the owner (I assume the gentleman wearing a "Waller" shirt) having his dog in the shop. Honestly, that feels more like a technicality than a true food safety issue. So, I went ahead and ordered a 16oz salted caramel cappuccino ($6 total). The service, though, was awkward. My drink was delayed, made after another customer's who ordered later, and when it finally came out, it looked rushed--about a third of the cup was foamless and empty. Not exactly a great first impression. The seating is eclectic--church pews, random chairs, a few spots with cushions (you'll need to snag them quick). It could use some upgrades, like added cushions or desk-style trays to make it more comfortable. The food looked good, smelled amazing, and was fairly priced, but the environment just wasn't for me. One last note: one of the employees was extremely loud. He was chatting up every customer who came in, to the point that I could hear every word--even when he started casually cursing while telling stories. Whether you sit inside or outside, it's hard to tune out. Overall: Not a bad spot and definitely has character, but between the limited outlets, dated seating, and loud atmosphere, it's not somewhere I'd return to work from or just to chill and read a book or something. read more

My husband's coffee- caramel latte w almond milk was love in a cup. Plus a fresh egg & cheese biscuit. Super nice cashier and cozy vibes. My chai latte scone was very good and what a deal $1 for being one day old. In terms of improvement- the outside needs some care. Shrubs overgrown. Chill, leisurely coffee shop in Decatur. It's kind of lowkey and gives off countryside vibes. The parking lot isn't paid and the place was pretty dim with only natural light coming in. I got a cold brew with lavender syrup, but I didn't like it :( It was too bitter with a synthetic or fake aftertaste. The girl working was really nice and gave me a coffee sleeve with their logo. There's a few outlets on the wall, but it is are to find or sit near. This place was not for me; however, I did like how so many people brought their dogs and how they had an entire shelf of board games! This is such a charming place! There is a quaint home style feel to the inside, and the outside has this wonderful natural charm under the shade of many beautiful trees. The biscuits are made in house and are so buttery, soft and delicious. I enjoyed a lavender latte and a biscuit with bacon, egg and American cheese. I love this place. It is the most laid-back coffee shop in the Decatur/Avondale area. The owner has made it a community gathering spot and a wonderful venue for live music. Pastries are delicious. So are the chai teas and mochas. Most people in Decatur both love and appreciate Waller's. Customers seeking a Starbucks experience will be disappointed. Was a bit dissapointed by Wallers after visiting while my car was in the shop across the street! The vibes are cool and the people are nice, but the wrap I had was super mediocre and the WiFi wasn't working the whole time I was there. Unfortunately I can't have caffeine in the afternoon so I opted out from coffee and instead just got a chicken salad wrap. There's plenty of seating so I was able to get situated pretty quickly. But the WiFi wasn't working at all on my computer or my phone, even after a reset, which was pretty annoying since I was trying to get work done. The wrap also wasn't wrapped well and i had to rewrap it so it didn't fall apart. The chicken salad was fine, but the celery pieces were so huge it was weird! I would almost always pick going to a cool coffee shop to do work over a car shop, but next time I'm just going to stay in there when I'm getting service. read more

Met a friend for coffee at this place. Didn't realize it's less than a mile from Dekalb Farmers Market. This is the dog friendliest part of Atlanta as there was a vet and doggy daycare across the street as well as the coffee shop being dog friendly. Service was prompt and friendly. Educated us on the menu and offerings. Answered questions and made recommendations. Offered Applepay and Samsung Pay as well as cash and card. Dessert case had multiple baked goods. There were some vegan offerings in the desserts as well vegan milk that was offered for drinks. Has a quaint vibe as if you're visiting someone's house for coffee. Had a library with adult and children's books, a gift shop, and a stage for live performances. Seating indoors and out, I'm envious of the people with this place in their neighborhood. I like getting a pastry (made in-house!!) and an iced latte with pistachio syrup and almond milk, but I've also enjoyed hot drinks I've gotten there! It's compatible with remote working, though I know a lot of Decatur/Avondale ppl drop by while walking pets since waller's is so dog friendly! The coffee here is ok, maybe average. It's not very strong. I believe the high ratings come from the outside "ambiance" and atmosphere provided when siting amongst trees. There is even a small stream that run through the back of the shop. Beware the mosquitos. It seems they may hold performances / concerts here, seeing as there is a stage. There is also a plethora of books to choose from inside. Lastly, the brownie is more cake like than brownie and both of the "treat" options are overwhelming with sugar. read more

The parking lot is gravel and grass (reminds me of one of the churches I grew up in) so if you polished your tires be careful. The outside is kinda rustic and reminds you of somewhere in the mountains. Inside gives off a rustic hipster vibe and it looks like if you have allergies that you will come out sneezing. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the vibe but it's my style. They also have a stage and performances,the calendar of events is on their website. The biscuit was very good if you are a bread lover like me because they are very thick. Overall the food was very good and came neatly put together. Found Waller's Coffee Shop when I was in the area looking for not Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. Fortunately this little independent shop delivered! Waller's is one of those hidden in plain site shops, because it kinda looks like someone's house, and the small gravel lot without paved parking sorta adds to the charm here. There is a central plain black and white sign on the lawn, and of all things, a red canoe with an arrow pointing to the building with "coffee" above it. How can you not go in? The inside is just as quirky as outside. Comic books line the far left wall, and local events are plastered on the doors. But what about the coffee???? So first off I was excited to see purchasable bags of Batdorf and Bronson, because I love their coffee! I decided on an 8 oz cup of their basic drip coffee with room for cream, and the coffee was strong, smooth and just what I needed. On this day I didn't try any of their food/desserts, nor did I come at a time when there were local performances, but the seats were plentiful, the staff were friendly, and I could see how someone could find themselves making this their go to spot for coffee and fun. I live in southeast Georgia and I spend time all over the state playing in bands, working on TV shows, and doing sound/lighting for theatre performances and concerts. I ALWAYS run into random people that rave about how much they love Waller's - it's everybody's personal hidden gem of a coffee shop. Every time I'm in Atlanta, I make at least one special trip to Waller's, because I love the quiet, cozy, naturally lit atmosphere during the day. It's a perfect place for me to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city to clear my mind, have a tea, and MAYBE get some work done. The outdoor space is also relaxing and calm. I've had many deep conversations with friends around back by the creek on an overcast day while sipping on a latte. If you have an open mind to music, stop in and catch a random show. I've seen some excellent punk groups, bluegrass groups, and weird DIY indie groups play at Waller's on both the indoor and outdoor stages. (My favorites have been Brook Pridemore and Equal Creatures) Who knows - maybe you'll luck out like me and meet your next partner at a Waller's show like I did! I love that Waller's welcomes a wide variety of music, I love the DIY meets chill coffee shop aesthetic. The staff and the owner have always been so kind, positive, and accommodating whether I'm stopping in for a drink or playing with a band. For those familiar with the Athens music scene and coffee shops, the best place I can compare Waller's to is Hendershot's. Out of all the cities I've gone to, these two coffee shops have great products, customer service, and beyond that - COMMUNITY service because of the awesome events they host. Stop by during the day for the most chill coffee shop experience you'll find anywhere around Atlanta, and stop in during a show to have your mind blown by the raw talent that's quickly ascending in the Atlanta music and art scene.
