So, I have passed this garden center so many times and never come in, until today. It's a little overwhelming for a non-plant type person to venture out into a giant garden center but the signage is easy to follow and once I cleared the main door to the big garden area it was easy to see the "plant center" on the left, where you first enter a little gift shop area and a nice ramp down to the plant area. Houseplants, y'al! What a lovely shop and plant shopping area!! I saw so many small beautiful plants and then I saw what I was looking for; a snake plant! There were a couple variations and found the one I wanted. It was priced reasonably so I grabbed it up and perused the other offerings on my way back into the shop. In the shop, there are planters and accessories and seeds and fun, pretty things. The planter I liked was even marked 50% off. I'll definitely come back again when I feel confident I can manage a third plant in my life. ;) read more

Purchased flowers last week from Wallitsch. Within 2-3 days, they were dead. Kept my receipt. Dug them up to return them. We were jumped by black haired woman at register. She told us they are seasonal and will be dead soon anyway. She didn't ask how she could help or what was the problem or anything. She didn't want to know. And didn't want to deal with us. You need to stand by your products. And hire people who care about their customers. read more

Went a bit early to find all the must haves for the season. Louisville weather is a fickle one. Friendly and informative staff. We went to Wallitsch to look for some "cool" plants so we can start our gardening for the spring. They didn't have too much yet as it's not gardening season yet, but I am ready to go back to Wallitsch in a few more weeks. The staff there was so kind and helpful and they have so many different plants/flowers to look at. I would ask about their greenhouses - it's just so nice to see all of it! They're locally owned and just feels good to be there. Highly recommend Wallitsch!! read more

Liars. Took receipt and photos, showing plants that died despite the utmost of care. They did not mention they had to be planted in the ground to be guaranteed. They lost 26 year customers today to save pennies. It is NOT about the money, it's their attitude. One of the owners was scanning our purchase, told her we were long time buyers. She didn't care. Now we don't care. Plenty of other nurseries in town, going forward we will patronize them. read more

Wallitsch is as good as it gets for a garden center in the Louisville area! I have been to quite a few of them around the tri-state area and I am still just awed when I walked in. Greenhouse after greenhouse, it just keeps getting better and better here. I had no idea such a large nursery existed right off Hikes Lane. Did you know Wallitsch is the supplier of those huge, lush planters around downtown? The quality and vitality of the plants at Wallitsch is the best I have seen. They offer some of the harder to find plants such as Bougainvilleas and all variety of figs, regular and dwarf pomegranates. Their Fuchsia collection is dazzling and breath taking. Those colors are much more vivid than the local big box garden centers' offers. If you are remotely interested in plants and gardening, you must see Wallitsch's for yourself. The price is a bit higher than the Big Boxes, but it is all worth it. read more

Your first impression when you enter Wallitsch Garden Center is WOW! What an amazing place. Then you spend almost $2,000 because their plants and trees are very nice but also very expensive. But they tell you about their wonderful guarantee. Oh no! Two of the plants we bought did not make it. We went to the store with our receipt, and we're told to pick out replacements. But we were not going home right away and asked if we could come back another day. An affirmative yes brought us back a few days later, only be to told NO! The plants are guaranteed only if they are planted in the ground not put into pots with potting soil and fertilizer. No soup for you. Next! read more

I was looking for lavender a bit late in the season and couldn't find it anywhere! Every nursery I called was either sold out or didn't carry it. Wallitsch not only had it in stock but offered a selection of 4-5 different varieties. I was very happy with their selection and the service. read more

I had one of the most horrible experiences of my life at Wallitsch's yesterday, and am still very upset. I came in last Friday to look at the laurel bushes and chose 5 to 6 of the chestnut hill variety. I told the employee I was working with that the bushes could not be picked up until my husband was off work on Tuesday (yesterday), and we discussed delivery. I asked if I needed to pay for or put a "hold" on them until then. She said, "No, that's not necessary, we have plenty." I called this same employee yesterday morning and told her we were preparing the soil; how excited I was to get these bushes, and we would be there in the afternoon to pick them up. She said that would be fine and they were there. When my husband and I arrived as stated, another employee walked out and told me all the bushes had already be sold to someone else! The employee who had been working with me wouldn't even come out to tell me the bushes I wanted had been sold out from under me. Had I not expressly asked to buy and hold them, I would understand. However, she turned me down when I asked to do it... and also never mentioned it during the phone call that morning that the bushes were sold to someone else. My husband and I made a trip for nothing and then the shock of finding out we had nothing to plant when we returned home! The plants, shrubs and trees may be beautiful here, but the customer service certainly is not. I am disappointed beyond words, and feel cheated by this company. I have to replace all the landscaping in my yard, and was looking forward to doing business here. Not anymore. read more

Beautiful garden center. Lots of variety. I love the butterfly chair and the fountains scattered around. A staff member was able to direct me to two of the four things I've been searching for for a month now; sunflowers and chives. I don't enjoy gardening at all but I enjoy having a gorgeous backyard and Wallitsch is one of the favorite places to go to find stuff. read more

This place is a big hit or miss. I recognize they are probably one of the more important garden centers in the area but they miss hugely on customer service and authenticity. Ive called and asked about material in stock many times and have been told many different things. There inventory is very inconsistent in terms of size and price and availability. there inventory in terms of variety is amazing, but you will pay for it. I have lost faith and interest in Wallitsch. Do better. Stop your stupid TV appearances and start being a real family nursery. My guess they will be out of business in 5 years from appearance and desperate advertising. read more

My neighbor and I visited for the first time yesterday, and they had a one of the largest selections of plants of any of the nurseries in the area. They also had a great greenhouse for house plants. I was able to find the rubber tree that I was looking for as well as a Monstera deliciosa. The plants all looked super healthy, and the prices were pretty good too. I will definitely be returning. The only "warning" would be that they don't accept Amex. read more

My friend and I stopped by here Saturday after seeing their booth at the Home, Garden and Renovation Show. This place is magic. We didn't see them, but I am sure the place is loaded with fairies. The entry is decorated beautifully with sculptures - my favorite was a butterfly bench. The plants are obviously premium - their pansies were beautiful and giant and they had lovely purple magnolias prominently in the entryway. They offer umbrellas to use while you are shopping if needed - very thoughtful! Our favorite was the gift shop and green house. They have some unique and very cute items. A whole selection of mini plants that are perfect for terrariums. I bought some gorgeous ceramic glazed pots for my patio and a cute staghorn fern wrapped in a moss ball. Really neat place. A lovely spot to spend a half hour - or more as well as top quality merchandise. Peaceful and relaxing. Friendly folks working there too. read more

This nursery is great, if this place doesn't have what you're looking for it probably doesn't exist. It is very big and has a great selection of trees, plants and flowers, the choices seem endless. They also have classes on gardening which is nice. Are they a little more expensive than other places, yes, but the quality of plants is exceptional. You get what you pay for, I always say. The employees are knowledgeable and very nice, though some can be a tad strained when the place is overly busy. I like to go here and just walk around to see what new flowers they have which are brought out from their greenhouses. I wish I could do that without buying something new LOL. read more

They did a phenominal job cleaning up my Jungle in my back yard, Kevin is a dream to work with I am sssssooooo happy with the job they did, they trimmed all my huge plants and trimmed back a tree that was hindering my swing in the back yard, looks like better Home and Gardens in my yard, Will be using them from now on.
