The service gave me hope for the future of the world through prayer. I love how everything is structured, and I certainly enjoyed the friendliness of the people. They have all kinds of education material, including rosaries that you can borrow or take home if you need one. I love the incense and actually when they were blessing at one time the fire alarm went off and that was kind of fun for everyone kind of a nervous time and then laughter. It just added to the ease of the service.

Beautiful historic mission near the water. We visited the location after walking down to the beach…read more I had no clue this mission even existed. I believe it's one of the first structures built in the city. It is restored to pristine condition and has been preserved well. Historical markers indicate the mission's history and impact on present-day Petoskey. A number of old graves are marked by crosses on the property. Apparently, they're keeping up the tradition of holding a Sunday mass here- at least it's what the sign says. It's a very beautiful location and a little bit Petoskey history. I suggest taking a quick trip over to to poke around the property if you're in the area or just heading to the beach.

We were new to the area and wanted somewhere to go for services and Torah Study. We were…read moredisappointed by the overwhelming LGBTQ political agenda for their student rabbi. This girl was not 30. We went there only once (we paid $700.00 for membership - it should only help with the new rabbi house nu). At 64, we did not really know what Reform Judaism stood for. We researched a bit (should have done that first I know). This congregation, the movement really, is more then a bit relaxed. The Torah is loosely defined and amended to acknowledge today's immorality. Read: Homosexuality is OK today because the Torah evidently does not pertain to them in the 21st century. The remaining agenda was hopelessly and completely social justice, urgency of climate change, and the general trappings of things a bit too far left for us. These changes have been going on in the senior reform rabbinate for the past two generations. We were, and continue to be, unaffiliated Jews for a very long time. The Reform movement is by far the biggest sect for Jews in North America. The people are very nice. We suspect a great deal of the congregants are in interfaith relationships and marriages. The Reform Movement is the only movement to marry unconverted Jews (Gentiles) to Jews. We were totally shocked with this synagogue. But, to be honest, knowing now what I know about Reform Judaism, I should have known better. This is also as "Liberal Judaism" or "Progressive Judaism." If you think this works for you - that is good for you. If you come at Judaism a bit more faithfully, this is not for you. There are better options but fellowship in NW Michigan is thin.
