I showed them my printed confirmation saying Gow's Home Hardware.....after some arguing I had a manager assure me it would be cleared up and I'd get my order in February....I received the Dish washer in March, I'm supposed to receive the refrigerator today, 6 months after needing a new fridge....Would I buy from them again???? They recently moved into a big new location, next to the lumber yard, just down the street from the gas station. The new store is bright, big, and SO clean and well organized. As I've said, we go to HH all.the.time. So it was no surprise that my husband and I ended up there during our "vacation" for our first wedding anniversary. The pump for the well had stopped. And lost it's prime. And we had lost a foot valve. Oh, and the attachment for the foot valve. So we ran to HH to get the necessary parts. Now, being a city kid I knew what a foot valve was but had NO idea where to find it, how to attach it or what size I should get. The lovely woman at HH proceeded to take my husband and I around to get all the various pieces we needed. They had no 1 inch valve but she was SO handy - we used some other attachments, the foot valve for 3/4 inch and some tubing and she had us out the door in less than 10 minutes. She was SO helpful and told us to call the store if we had any questions once we got back to the house. The valve contraption we created fit like a glove and we were ready to go within minutes of getting back to the house (although the pump is broken now so we STILL have no water!). The foot valve is just once instance of the great customer service we always receive at Home Hardware in Caledonia.I cannot say enough good things about the great, helpful, kind, knowledgeable people that work there!

While not as big and well-stocked as Gow's in Bridgewater (LH doesn't even try to stock the kind of seasonal and housewares items that Gow's has), LH has a good selection of all the hardware basics, plus a few very special extras. They've got a fine, if small, chandlery section, if you need to work on your boat. And they sell Benjamin Moore paints and are truly experts in this area. I don't go anywhere else for my paint. Most importantly, this store has the best staff ever! They are helpful and knowledgeable, especially the ones who have been there a decade or more. No matter what project you're working on, the established staff members like Sandy, Elaine, Ron and Ronnie can help you figure out what you need. They also (I just discovered) have a very nice website.

And this Piercy's / Rona is no exception, it has what i need when I need it! Lumber - for when i want to build some awesome stuff. Tools - for when i need something, or to replace something. So does Cdn Tire! Paint - for painting. supplies - for everything, electrical, plumbing, etc. etc. etc. Does it have everything? no, but it has the most common needs a home owner typically y has! Plus it is only 5 minutes from my house......HUGE bonus points. Yes the Rona/Kent/Home Depot in Bayer's Lake are bigger/better/ more ominous, but they are further away when you need say a junction box and generic ceiling light to add in my basement! ( last nights project!)
