Well, guess what? We like Dr. Shieh! He was friendly, warm, knowledgeable, easygoing, and calm. He seems respectful of parents and great with children. I'm so relieved! His printed instruction sheets are extremely thorough too. They answer many questions that could come up. We were told that Dr. Angell Shieh was "hand-picked" by Dr. Walls and I find a lot of comfort in knowing that. Dr. Shieh was actually described to us as "like a younger Dr. Walls."

Made a prenatal pediatric appointment yesterday but there office was too busy and rescheduled today. I was initially upset that the wait took so long but after meeting with Dr. Gainor today I am really glad that I came back. My objective was to see if this would be a good fit for me and my child in the near future. Here's what I loved about my experience: - Dr. Gainor is one of 4 physicians. She has been working there for 6 years+ at this particular clinic from the start when Dr. Paul (Owner) decided to open up the clinic. - She spent a good amount of time with me answering all of my questions. I got a good feeling of what this office was about and how they take care of patients. - She was very knowledgable. She took notes on her laptop listening and noting details while asking questions to learn about me. - She reassured me that they are available, they do not use an answering service like most doctors and take the calls themselves off hours. Having 24/7 support was very important to me. -She went through the logistics of pre and post delivery. This was nice because these details were not exactly covered by the OB. The more she talked the more I became confident and comfortable that this would be a perfectly fine place to be a patient at. - They are located in the heart of La Jolla Bird Rock, an easy walk from home. What could improve: If the doctors are delayed due to whatever reason, simply to give the patients a heads up and give them an option to come back at a better time. This would allow patients with non-urgent visits to rebook and the other patients who were also in line but had more important concerns can be seen sooner because of the other patients choosing to reschedule. The waiting room is compact and can accommodate maybe 6 adults max with a couple of children. There was a lady with her small baby who sat outside on the steps because the room was already getting packed. So just know it can be a bit packed during busy times. We were uneasy with that response, so I happened to find Dr Pransky through word of mouth when I was calling around trying to find someone that wasn't employed by Radys. Dr Pransky spent an hour with us, gathering all medical history and really explaining to us how everything worked and what was needed and why. He listened to our concerns and answered all of our questions. It came to be that the surgery was needed, but we felt a lot more confident with our decision after spending time with Dr Pransky and also learning about all of his experience. I did a lot of research as well, reading his reviews beforehand and I even asked the other doctors we work with about him-they all said he was fantastic and that we were in good hands. He has a very fun office set up for the kids, and my daughter was completely comfortable with him and actually didn't want to leave. We scheduled the surgery but of course I was still nervous the day of, my daughter is 2 and so little, barely over 20 lbs. I have never had a child have surgery before. Dr Pransky was great, the actual procedure was probably 10 min and everything went so well. I thought he was exaggerating when he said she would be up and playing and eating the minute she got home. 30 min after we took her home, she was already back to her normal self, playing with my other daughter. I wrote this two weeks out to ensure she didn't have any complications. She is doing so well, sleeping through the night, no more runny nose and not breathing out of her mouth. I am so thankful for Dr Pransky and doing what is best for my child and making it such a good experience. I absolutely recommend him, he has so much experience and knowledge and will do what's best for your child.

We were anxious to write this review the second day post-surgery, but we purposefully waited until today to post this in the event something unexpected were to occur. Her recovery was frankly remarkable. Surgery was performed at 7:30AM and by late-afternoon, she was running around and playing like her normal self. We had to manage her food intake because if it were up to her, she would have had chicken nuggets for dinner. Witnessing this first-hand after all the anxiety build-up was a major relief. Dr. Pranksy was recommended by several medical professionals due our daughter's massive tonsils. My wife and I are extremely cautious parents and any potential medical attention for our family comes with hours of diligence. The man is truly a first-class physician and running a private practice clearly provides him with the autonomy to perform surgeries in a manner that is best for the patient and not per a larger group's policies/ requirements. We are extremely thankful for his attentiveness, care, and execution. The sights, the smells, sounds, etc. She spent a lot of time relaxing and picturing the "happy place." She also had to pick a gesture that she would link to the place (she chose thumbs up), so from now on, when she does a thumbs up, she will be taken back to that meditative state. It's been very effective, with daily practice. Last night, for example, she had trouble getting to sleep. Today I changed to a new PCP and experienced how thorough, professional, and quality care should look like. I was with Dr. Dembo-Smeaton the last two years and right off the bat she made me feel stupid. First time I met her, I came in with specific questions and she told me to calm down. I remember immediately shutting down. It was so bizarre as I was not hysterical, I was prepared with simple questions. I remember calling my partner and friends wondering if any of this was in any way normal. Insurance is difficult to work with, and I felt stuck. But I'm so happy with my new PCP. She identified basic things Dr. Dembo Smeaton should have addressed years ago. I was further validated in my decision to change PCPs when my current gynecologist was also taken aback when she heard my then PCP (Dembo Smeaton) wasn't following up with me post labs. That's when I realized I should be proactive and so very happy I did. We pay an insane amount for health insurance. We should receive quality care from empathetic doctors who are not only experts in their field but want to get to know their patients.
