Larger than most other Walmart locations I've visited in this city, we actually found the items that we were seeking when we visited recently. Our kid found something to bring home as well so while it was a productive trip it did involve a bit of a splurge purchase, but what can I say, it was a huge Walmart location! There are some renovations ongoing but the restrooms were in good shape when we visited and the store itself had a great amount of selection in every area from seasonal to cleaning products, toys, toiletries and everything in between. There is lots of parking here. read more

As far as Walmarts go, this one is pretty good. I can frequently find toys marked on a significant clearance here (think talking Darth Vader Helmet for $10 when it's still $25 at my local Walmart). The parking lot can be kind of a pain because of the one ways and what not but this is still a good go to when hunting for a bargain. There is both a Timmy's and McD inside for those curious. read more

0 stars for customer service. I kept getting put on hold for a simple question about whether an item was in stock (the website showed that they had the board game Stratego, but for $300?? What on Earth). I waited over 25 minutes in total before giving up. Never received help for something that should have been less than a 5-minute phone call. I really like how Wal-Marts are popping up all over the place. These places really are that convenient. Parking is plentiful in the nice giant lot out front. The inside is quite bright. The produce section is nice and colourful. This location also has a Tim Hortons by the exit, in case you want a coffee after shopping. One thing worth mentioning is that they now have their own in-house brand for clothes and shoes called George. The stuff may not be the most stylish, but the quality feels decent. Honestly, I can't decide if I like Wal-Mart or Costco more. Most likely the former though, as there are no membership fees required. read more

Oh Walmart, where I know I will find cheap prices for necessities and stuff I don't need. I recently went and was pleasantly surprised to see the selection of Chinese New Year decorations, white chocolate and orange Kit Kats in CNY wrappers, and other chocolates. They also had great prices on food items for New Years celebration. Who doesn't need a case of chicken stock? Most of the shopping I do is for food items (not always the freshest or best produce though), toiletries, and photo centre where you can print photos from your phone/memory card, or send them in via their website and pick them up with a hour or two. They have a decent craft section of paints, scrapbooking, jewelry, and yarn. They sometimes have items on clearance but the prices aren't too bad. When they have items in their flyer, they can fly off the shelf quickly. It's a good idea to go on the first day they are on sale. The line ups to pay can get long but most of the time the cashiers are friendly and try their best to keep up. read more

Unfortunately this Walmart is close and convenient to me so I do stop in occasionally for some grocery items but I never get good service here. The only thing that has me returning to shop here are the prices. The fruit and vegetables are reasonable although the quality is unpredictable. The bakery is fully stocked but some items don't look appealing so I rarely buy. The meat is okay but the only thing I buy is the chicken breast however the price increased to $11 a package from $10. The express checkouts can be slow sometimes as there are usually two cashiers. The self checkout kiosks are usually available but are finicky and you need to call the staff over to clear something before continuing. The main cashiers are very slow, doesn't matter if you are buying a few items or a full cart...they only go one speed. If you have a question, you don't get an answer or if a price comes up incorrect, the cashier wants you to tell them where you got the item and what the sign said and where you saw the different price instead of calling for staff to check into it! They have the Scanning Code of Practice information posted by the tills but don't follow it. I made a complaint recently and have yet to receive a call from the store manager. I went back to the store to obtain my reimbursement but was given a hassle in doing so. I was warned that it was an exception that I was getting my money after leaving the store as I should have asked at the time I paid for the item. The customer service area is obscene! Carts full of stock piled up. Only one lady working there and tries to rush everyone through, not friendly but maybe because she is overworked. Walmart's vision is to offer low prices but that's it. The staff has no motivation and you can't find anyone working except at the tills. Maybe there's a reason why there are so many poor reviews! read more

This Walmart is pretty much like every other Walmart - they have everything. We wanted to pick up a few late night groceries so we headed here around 9:00pm on our way home from a movie. Walmart is never NOT busy. I have to say, I love and hate Walmart at the same time. I love it because it is cheap and it has everything you could possibly need. I hate it because it's like its own little village - it's so big and crowded at times that you want to just scream! Either way, I usually walk out with something! My only concern this time around, was that they didn't have enough cashiers open for the amount of people that were in the store. Other than that, we got our groceries, picked up a birthday present and a couple tank tops ($6 each!) and were on our way! read more

Yes, I know you shouldn't expect stellar service from Walmart but it is a place of business, and they should provide at least some decent customer service. We went to this location to buy bed sheets and a TV mainly. First, when we asked a representative for help with the bed sheets, she sighed and said "yessss". I promptly told her to never mind if it was such a hassle for her and she quickly said "okay" and walked away. We navigated the sheets on our own despite the rudeness and then picked up s few other things as well. Then at the TV section we had a question, and the girl behind the counter told us she was too busy to help us. Too busy to help a customer? At that point we decided to put down everything in our arms and get out of there. Why would we give them money when they couldn't care less about us? I should mention that we wrote into Walmart (we were pissed) and they never bothered to email back. A true sign of their dedication to customers and the final nail in their coffin for us. I say spend a few extra bucks to shop locally owned stores and give money to people who value your business. read more

Before visiting here I admit coming in with a bias as I really hate Walmart. I generally only go of my own free will once in November for holiday supplies but a friend needed some help picking up school supplies so I sucked it up and went. On the plus side this location has a nice timmies as well as McDonald's location. The associate at the till was also pleasant offering me suggestions where I could go for a scientific calculator as they had none available at the time. Another pleasant surprise here was how wide the isles are.This is especially helpful when one needs to employ the skill and precision of an indy car driver to avoid the families who let their young children run up and down the isles as well as those tiring folks who park their carts smack dab in the middle while they stare at the shelves. On the flip side however the stock available here didn't measure up to the other locations I have visited. The school supply section was almost non existent which was surprising as it was right before labor day long weekend and all the kids have not returned back to classes yet. The signage or lack thereof was also extremely irritating. There were several things in the housewares section I was interested in but no prices to be seen and no signs pointing me to one of those scanners customers can use to check prices on their own. I am not interested in returning but like I mentioned at the beginning of the review alot of this has to do with the fact I hate Walmart. For everybody else though I think they have good deals and surprisingly nice staff. Just make sure to bring your patience with you when you come shopping to deal with the poor signage and confusing layout. read more

I feel like writing a review on Walmart is funny in itself, because I think most people already know what to expect from this place. The lowest prices, everything else is bonus, right? I agree. I had to document the funny experience I had though, when I asked a Walmartian where I might find the Crystal Lite. After reading the signs above the nearest aisles she pointed to the one that said "juice" and said "I think it might be down that aisle" and started to walk away. "Oh, I've been down that aisle and it isn't." Obviously disconcerted with my tenacious questioning she sighed and motioned to the whole end of the store, "Well it's somewhere in there." "Wow, thanks." I replied. "I'll just go keep looking for it." "Yup, have a nice day." she said and quickly continued on her way. This is a great example of what not to do if you are a business. Few businesses can sustain return customers based on low prices alone, and Walmart is one of those exceptions. Customers should never be a nuisance, nor should their inquiries be dismissed if not easily addressed. I will continue to shop here because I can suffer through these rare occasions in exchange for getting copious amounts of food/household goods for less. I have gone to this Walmart a few times in the past few years and last night it reinforced my opinion of it. I do not like it. Even my young daughter doesn't like the "feel" of the store. The layout is confusing and meant to keep you shopping but all it does is frustrate me because I cannot find anything. We walked out with spending a penny. Hate Walmart all you want, there is no better store which sells EVERYTHING you can think of in Edmonton. As this is a Supercenter location, there is a grocery store attached to this massive complex. And I mean MASSIVE....this store spans a few city blocks. That being said, you can find a wide selection of almost any item in store, however their individual options are a bit limited. The store is open late (midnight on most days), however during the Christmas season, it turns into a 24-hour outlet for your convenience...for all you last-minute shoppers who suddenly wake up at 3am and realize you forgot to buy someone a gift. A problem of this store is that there is a lack of associates available for your help. They generally know where all the items in the store, however it may be easier to look for it yourself than look for a blue-shirt associate. Also, the line ups at the cashier can be killer. They have recently added self-service check out counters, however that does not speed up the process by much. The under staffing, is very apparent here; more staff would decrease the wait time. read more

This is by far my favourite Walmart. It's nicely laid out easy to find what your looking for. It has everything you could possibly need sometimes I get very distracted and find myself in the electronic section wanting it all lol. It is usually well staffed and they are very helpful and very happy to assist you. I like that I can have a McDs coffee and my fiancée can have a Tims coffee to walk around with both inside Walmart. It's in a common area so other shops are around if you wanted to. The fruit and veg section is kept really clean and fresh as all sections are. Definitely the better of all the Walmarts!!! read more

A fellow Yelp-er reached out to me recently and noted that in the pictures I'd posted along with my review, you can see "inventory maps" and that the store was likely doing a flip so that's why shelves were empty. I realize now that my review should have also included the two different employees I had asked for help. Both of whom came over and looked, hemmed and hawed, and we're clueless about any kind of inventory map. This is the closest Walmart to me, so I do go here a lot. I am just always disappointed when I need to go here for something. It always seems that shelves are empty or they don't have what I'm looking for. I went here to look for a mouse trap. Checked online and said they had them, and I've also bought some from Walmart (different location) before. I searched the whole are and even other areas for them for about an hour. In that time frame, I couldn't find an attendant ANYWHERE. So, I ended up having to go elsewhere for them. Second, I had to return pjs for my son that where too small, and they were bought at a different location, yes they took them. Great! But no, they didn't have ANYTHING on the racks to replace. Not even other kinds of pjs! Nothing! I also find that this location doesn't carry pjs for kids often. Hello! Kids need clothes too. Other locations have them finer but not here. My son does wear a larger boys size, so it would be nice to see those sizes carried more as well. Another thing I always go for is baby food. It seems that their selection is getting smaller and smaller. For 12 month food, they now have only one type instead of the 8+ selection there should be. Yesterday I went to get a gift for my daughter. Normally they have a large selection of Barbies. But there was literally 5 Barbies on the shelf. The rest was empty. Also, I decided to check the other aisles and there was a sign for Hatchimals! Great! Another gift idea. And I search.. nothing! It was full of Fur Real pets. No hatchimals anywhere to be seen . All I think anyone expects is to have what it says you have, have store attendants where you can find one, and stock your shelves. read more

I use this store quite a bit. It is clean,well maintained and the checkout staff are nice and fast . They have everything i need in one place although i use other grocery stores as well because each has its items that are better or worse. It's on the outskirts of town so there is always parking. Tim hortons is inside so i can get a coffee. Barber shop,eye glass store,whatever you need is here. They have a good produce section with good prices . The meat department isn't nearly as good as superstore but it's ok. One disappointing thing is that just in the last week they instituted a pay-a-loonie cart lock system whereas it used to be just open. Sometimes i would go there just because i didn't have any change but now i guess i'll have to carry some. As an update walmart now uses cheaper quality bags and has started charging 5 cents for them. read more

If I could give a zero rating I would. I sent my wife and two children to the Walmart photo center to have passports photos taken. Walmart Canada's web site states that passport photos are $12.97. This is cheaper than the $20 charged at most other places. They arrived a photocenter in the store and had the pictures done within a couple of minutes. The price at the till showed $59.98 + GST for the pair. $62.98 for two kids, taxes in. The mistake my wife made was not confirming 1) the price up front and 2) not checking first to verify with the worker (named Alyssa) whether the photo studio in Walmart is an actual Walmart photo studio. In turns out most of the photos studios located in Walmart across North America are independently owned by a company called "Photos Unlimited". Walmart should be ashamed to post one price on-line and then allow these sharks to charge over double what Walmart has stated on their national web site. Are there not consumer laws against bait and switch? Best to avoid dealing with them if you can. Prices are better everywhere else. read more

Regardless of how one feels about Walmart, it's a great place to shop for something quick and affordable! Stony Plain Road Walmart definitely needs to hire more staff, since it's not much fun waiting in line for 30 minutes! However, great selection and great prices!!! read more

I shop at Walmart alot, especially for groceries they have great prices and of course everything else that you might need also, it's the one stop shop! What I don't like about it is the long lines, how they have workers all over the place and only two working the cash, but what really frustrates me is when I've been waiting in the line up already 15 - 20 mins already and the cashier is passing down the lane closed sign and that one person infront of me is where the line is going to end, you can shove that sign ... The lane shouldn't be closed until all the customers have been rang through and on their way, I'm not going to stand in another line up for another 15 - 20 mins sometimes even longer! read more

I am not a fan of Walmart but i have to give credit where credit is due. I wanted to buy a blow up christmas decoration for my front lawn and every Walmart was out. I contacted head office and they were useless. I when to the West Edmonton Walmart and they had a display model. Anna helped me out trying to find one at other stores but they had nothing. Disappointed I would have to forget about it. She said she did not want to see me leave empty handed. She checked with the manager and then sold me the display model. I purchased snowman smarties today and when I got home and checked my bill I was charged full price and not the 75% discounted price as indicated on the shelf. In addition, women's sleep pants marked as 40% off rang in a full price, when I indicated this to the cashier she made no effort to check the price. The staff at this store give the worst service ever, if you can even find someone, and have difficulty accommodating special requests of any kind. read more

I know what to expect from most Walmart locations. They are usually busy and have long lines. Therefore, I don't want to put this as a factor on my review. Now onto the review... I decided to write a review on this location because I think it's not as good as some of the other locations. When I went to buy shampoo here one time for a particular brand, they had 3 left on the bottom rack. However, all three bottles were dirty and seemed to have some of the shampoo on the outside bottle. The bottles seemed like they sitting there for a long time. I think they need their staff to check the products better to make sure they are clean and ready to sell. This location seems less organized and clean as other locations I have been to. read more

I live an hour west of Edmonton and it would be a great deal closer for us to go to Spruce Grove Walmart, but it is absolutely terrible. They never have stock, they're not a superstore and its so small it's not worth our time even stopping. There is over a dozen families close to me that refuse to go there because we are continually disappointed. Your Walmart Superstore is Fabulous. Even when we don't really need much we always make the trip to Edmonton, just to see what's new. This location had ample parking and generally has what I am looking for with regard to groceries. The store is well organized and generally it's easy to find items, unless they are stacked in the middle of the aisles. I purchased a watch here and the clerk was very friendly and helpful. Most of the cashiers are also friendly and efficient although sometimes there are not a lot of lanes open. read more

CONS: Being a weekly customer at this Wal Mart, I personally think that on sunday's, it is the mostly busy (Crowded) on the day time. While around 10 pm, there are always long line ups because in having usually 2 or 3 cashiers open. Going to the electronics department is basically a mess. I usually shop for video games and their selection is quite disorganized and weird. What I mean is that new games go along a random selection of different consoles. For example, having a Xbox One, Titanfall beside a Nintendo Wii U, Monster Hunter Ultimate. Weird! Their fresh departments sometimes don't have the product they offer from the flyer as they usually say that their "Sold Out. PROS: What I like about this store is that they have Mc Donald's and Tim Hortons inside of it and it is convenient after shopping. Picking up something cheap is always good to get here. OVERALL: Every Wal-Mart are different in its style but this store would be low - decent but not the best. read more

I purchased 4 tires at Walmart and asked what their charge for mounting the tires was. I had purchased new rims to go with the new tires. I was quoted $15.00 per wheel. He told me to be there at 8:00 AM the next morning for Installation. The good news - it only cost $14.00 per wheel = Total of $56.00. The BAD NEWS the fellow at the counter wanted $49.96 EXTRA for "Seasonal Tire Exchange" plus $4.99 Shop Supplies. Not impressed at all with the service. Isn't any. Stopped by late Sunday evening to pick up groceries. A lot of yelling into the intercom by hard to understand broken English and when I went to pay for goods they wear shutting down tills 2hrs early. Long line ups, made mention to the manager and he really didn't care at all. A waste of my time to be leaving my money in that store!!! On October 25, 2014 I went to this Walmart branch to get my passport photo done there as it had to be renewed. Also, not being able to drive I had to take a cab there and back to my home to get this done as I didn't have much time to waste. Waiting patiently for my passport photo to arrive, instead I received a notice from the Passport Canada Office that in this photo there was too much 'shadow' and had to be redone as Passport Canada would not permit what was done by this particular Walmart. Instead of me having to deal with the stress again (which to me was not worth it) of having to go to this store to not only try and get a refund and also get them to 'redo' the bad photo they did I decided NOT to take that risk - I instead when to McBain at WEM where I SAW WITH MY OWN EYES BEFORE I PAID FOR IT THAT THE NEW PASSPORT PHOTO WOULD PASS! As for NOT wanting to go through this kind of stress again -- I would recommend that you NOT get your passport photo done here as their quality is NOT as good as most of the other businesses I have dealt with in the past regarding passport photos that have to be retaken or renewed. read more
