Generally, I like Walmart South Common in Edmonton, AB as I shop there every week, however I do have a complaint. I picked up raisin bread last Thursday (Nov 7th) and brought it home. I checked the due date but that was about it. When I got home, my spouse happily opened the bread to eat a couple of slices when he realized that there was something strange about the bread. As he pulled out more slices, it became apparent that there was a large hole eaten out of the middle of the bread, so half of it was hollow. When he checked the bottom of the bag, he found a hole that had been chewed through the plastic. Obviously, a mouse had been at work getting himself something to eat. While we threw the bread out, I was sure glad that I hadn't carried a mouse home with me. That would have been quite a shock! Anyway, I would suggest that Walmart set more traps in the baking department. And next time, I will be checking that the bag is fully intact. :) read more

Walmart seems an occasional need at an establishment with an unpleasant evil way of treating it's employees to avoid giving them full-time work benefits and health care. This tempers our desire to visit and take advantage of their economy of scale. We hope they choose to change. This evening we visited to explore some low-carb options and wound up (as usual) wandering around eyeballing many departments. Some items were found at great discount, others not so much, and some just can't seem to be found elsewhere. It's a delight to learn about new items, new ideas, new options for living challenges. Despite all of this, we would up buying only one deeply-discounted item that we desperately needed and passed on everything else, opting for supporting other venues. It's nice having the option, and the ability to browse, but some deals can't overcome the distaste of the political reality. read more

I love Walmart. But I hate it too. I love it because it has everything you could possibly need under one roof and they are all priced very well. I hate it because it's crazy busy and it's like its own little city in there! But I do shop here a lot. This is a great place to get DVDs - 2 for $10. Great deal! Their produce isn't very good but the rest of their groceries are well priced and they have a great selection. Surprisingly, you can find some really cute clothes and shoes at Walmart for about 1/3 of the price you would find them elsewhere. Trust me on this one - take the time to look and you might be surprised. The best thing about Walmart is that it is open 24hrs for the Christmas season. Even when I don't need to shop, I will head to Walmart late at night for something to do (I always end op shopping though, it's impossible not to buy something when you go to Walmart). People spend entire days at this Wal Mart? Is that some Edmonton tradition I haven't heard about before? This Wal Mart Supercentre can be so dirty at times in certain departments. It's as if no one cleans up the place, especially in the electronics section. Everything is always out of place and nothing ever matches up with the price tag that's located below. The furniture section is also horrible. You can never find stocked units of the items that are on display since everything is so disorganized. It took me at least 30 minutes to find a desk that I saw on display. Ugh. read more

My friends and I once spent an entire Friday night just shopping at this Wal-Mart Supercentre (kind of sad, I know). After hearing about the big new supercentre that opened up at South Commons, we just had to check it out. And man, were we ever glad we did. This Wal-Mart has everything. You can do all your shopping in one stop, which is always nice. I loved that they had an entire grocery store there, and the produce is pretty fresh too. Some of the stuff was a lot cheaper than at Superstore, and Superstore is usually already pretty inexpensive. I had a hard time getting my friends to leave the makeup section. There were aisles and aisles of makeup, all for a lot less than you would normally find them at, say, Shopper's for example. We spent the most time here, including the jewelery section as well. I've also come here for my photo developing and quick craft supplies. The photo centre has several digital photo computer stations you can use, to make things go faster. There's usually quite a queue though, even if there's more than one person behind the desk. I like that this location has everything, but sometimes it's just so big that it's hard to find what you're looking for. And it's even harder to find someone who works there to help you. They are seriously under-staffed there, for a store their size. I find it really frustrating that I have to circle the store several times before I can flag down a staff member to help me. read more

This Super Center is fun. During December it is open 24 hours and it is great. I can't begin to tell you how many times we have come to this place after a night out just to get McDonalds and play around. Surprisingly the place isn't empty at this time. People are actually still shopping. They have everything any Walmart would have just on a bigger scale. The place is actually gigantic and one could easily get lost in here. Since it is so big it is tough to find someone to help you. Then again we like that because it gives us more freedom to mess around at night. read more

Whoa, this has got to be the BIGGEST single merchant retail space I've every been in. It's easily three football fields of stuff. Being a single householder, I can't really see myself screwing my courage to the sticking place (as they say in Macbeth) and braving the hordes on a regular basis, but I can see how a young family would find this a great single destination shopping spot especially on a weekend with the kids in tow. Basically, a Super Centre is a giant grocery store plus a giant department store plus a discount home and garden store. So, if you've got to get the grocery shopping done, grab some white goods and underwear for the kids, you have it all covered under one roof. There's also the typical Walmart "fringe" services: a MacDonalds, a cleaners, pharmacy and optical joint, so once you find parking in the gigantic lot, there's no reason to leave. And, hey it's Walmart, so leave the kids unsupervised in the toy section while picking through the mysterious US bargain brands in the grocery or trying on those must have "George" fashions while you navigate your cart with the Corningware dish set that's just a steal. Or, like me, take it slow and enjoy the people watching. There's no better place to examine humanity than a Walmart. "How do know I didn't steal this?", demanded a man off the set of the Beverly Hillbillies, waving an empty water bottle at the Greeter on his way into the store. Where do you sign the petition to ban faux Yoga wear being worn out in public? "Go to station #3", shouts the electronic voice at the check out line, in case that too tight spandex top has cut off the circulation to your brain, and like the Super Centres in the States, RV customers can spend the night in the lot, so it's always an opportunity to check out the rolling stock. Today, the Children's Miracle network was selling cotton candy, candy apples and mini-donuts outside the doors. A bag of cinnamon sugar coated goodness for $5. That's all I bought on this trip. read more

While I do enjoy living on the North side I have to give the South side kudos for having a much better Walmart then any of the ones available on my side of the city. As long as there are Walmart's there will forever be products put back on the wrong shelves and disorganized clothing racks but the South Edmonton Common staff seem to do a much better job at trying to tame the chaos than any other Walmart I have shopped at. The shelves here are usually pretty well stocked so if you see something in a flyer on sale that you simply must have you can be fairly certain it will still be there by the time you get down to the store. The staff are the typical overworked and under appreciated Walmart employee's but I have never had an issue tracking one down and have never gotten any rude or snotty attitude from any of them. The best part of this location without a doubt has to be their seasonal section. Their garden center is huge and full of everything you could possibly need in the warm months and during the holiday season South Edmonton Common Walmart cannot be beaten when it comes to variety and price on Christmas decor. The only drawback of this place has to be the crowds. It seems no matter what time of the week I go half of Edmonton decides they need to go shopping at the same time. All the families with their four or more children fill the isles and stepping around them to get what you need off the shelves can be hazardous to your patience and health. Sometimes no matter how much you want to support the local businesses you simply have to shop big box and when you do you really can't go wrong with this Walmart....just make sure to bring a tylenol if you take issue with screaming kids. read more

This place is so massive. You can find anything you want from this Walmart, and when I say anything, I mean anything. Too many things to list in this review here. I have showed up at this store really early in the morning and it was a joy to shop. No one was there, and the only people that were there were older couples or young people... i.e- No Children. I made the mistake of stopping in here today(a saturday) at 11am. The place was packed with crying children and screaming kids. It was so overwhelming, that I ended up putting down the shorts I was going to buy and walked out. Other than the annoying customers, Walmart is a good place to shop because of their vast selection and crazy good prices. Just don't expect stellar quality for your cheap goods. read more

I love Wallmart, it is the one stop shop for everything. This one is a super store, meaning it is even bigger than the average one including groceries. It can get quite busy, but they have lots of cashiers and an express checkout so you don't have to wait too long. read more

WALMART PHOTO Went there for passport photo. Oh, the lady there gave me such a terrible service. She even give you time to check yourself in the mirror. The picture was taken with whatever lights the store has. I should have taken that as a hint. She is no good! No, I didn't expect my pictures to be beautiful or perfect but they made me look like a witch ha ha. To make it short. I'm going to another place to re-take my passport pictures. Go somewhere else! Not at wallmart and I get that, but When I ask for help to lift a 250 lb trampoline into my truck and I wait for 15 minutes and no one comes it makes me angry. Today I went to Walmart at south common in Mississauga at 9.40 pm . |I went to buy the 42 Roku smart tv 60 hz# 31008295 which is on their flyer for black Friday - starting Thursday 26th November at 9.00pm. I spoke with a blue vest customer service lady who called a yellow vest lady supposedly the manager, I doubt! ! She came all the way without a mask and started in a cunning way fool us. I showed her the flyer and what it states and she started to fool me saying it is for online order only. I showed her that one of the items - the TV- shows in store on the same flyer that says starts 26 Nov at 9.00, she started to maneuver and stuttered then said it is only on line. I asked for Neven N the general manager to speak to, she threw the banknote in her hand and left then after 15 minutes I called the 9056080922 number of Mrs Neven but to my astonishment the same blue vest lady answered my phone while i am standing in front of her. All of a sudden A lady in a long skirt without a mask showed and said: what is the problem in a very rude way. I am currently 6 months pregnant and can't lift heavy items right now . I walked all over the store and couldn't find one employee to help me. I like the store And grocer but NOT the VISION store. When I asked them when I last got glasses I got three different answers from 3 different people, one of them couldn't find my computer file at all. If you need your glasses fixed, they send you to an eyeware place way across the street to get them fixed that has nothing to do with Walmart. Glasses aren't good quality in the 1st place.
