I was surprised that they've expanded to Canada so I had to pay it a visit. The store itself is small, but there is just enough room to manoeuvre a regular stroller but the aisles are tight & not in straight rows like most dollar stores. Pricing is not cheap like a dollar store, but affordable for what they offer. I would say item quality is superior than dollar store for many things. Items are also packaged very nicely & uniformly, look stylish/trendy/classy, some are also unique, and kid friendly, so it seems like your getting a good deal. I've never really had complaints about the stuff I've received from there or from what I bought. The staff are pretty friendly too & although there is very limited parking in the front, there's also parking stalls available at the back of the building too. I'd definitely come back to find some new things that 'I didn't know I needed in my life until I got there' type stuff.

I didn't check the prices on the electronics but most prices were reasonable. The store is brightly lit and well organized. It's fun to check out the different items. I bought my boyfriend a red bow tie when I came here. This is a great place to find some inexpensive gifts!

Sure, there's something to be said for consistency across the malls of Canada (where can't I find a Spring or an Aldo?), but it's such an awesome surprise to find something like this in a mall like that. The clothes here are gorgeous, with unique details and careful construction. The price is right, too. Even if I'm not in the market for a new garment, I can usually find a gorgeous new bag or jewelry piece. Dainty necklaces, feather earrings, you know the type. Lots of Matt and Nat stocked in here, too. Last time I was in, they were having a sale - bonus! Sales clerk was super friendly and explained the price reductions to me. I honestly make trips to Southgate just to go to Groove Stone. I love that a local business like this is able to make it in a commercially saturated mall. It's so refreshing to see such a unique place here. First off, I'm a sucker for anything Matt & Nat and Groove Stone has an unbeatable selection. It can be tough to find high quality vegan accessories, but at least now I know where to look. I also love how they support Canadian artists and designers. On my last visit I snagged some amazing earrings from Flight Path designs and some really unique pieces that my friends and family are going to love to receive this Christmas. Not only is the merchandise amazing, the staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly. They're always quick to offer suggestions and go out of their way to search for untouched pieces in the backroom so you don't have to buy the floor model. I can honestly say you cannot beat The Bay fragrance department. The staff are so knowledgeable and you get the best deals there. I got lots of extras from the Estee Lauder counter. A great reusable cloth bag. And Estée Lauder samplers (actual samples and not just one use tear pouch) Including 30 dollars to my Bay rewards card for next purchase. Olive was excellent and helped me choose a scent that I loved. I feel really happy about my purchase.

The stores are poorly staffed, poorly lit, and generally crap compared to other big cities in Canada. I'm sure Nordstrom's thought that if Edmontonians think this is quality shopping they're not ready for Nordstrom's. The one example that clearly sums up the Bay is the men's room. The Bay has to have the worst bathrooms in Canada. The ventilation in the men's room at Southgate is so so so bad there's either a cancer patient who's decided to crap himself to death or the sewers are backed up. All of this in Edmonton's most prestigious shopping center Southgate Bay. Any illusion we have that we're a big city is quickly shattered when you step into Southgate Bay and realize this is as good as it gets in Edmonton. It's depressing.

The store makes me feel like I've walked into some wealthy lady's dressing room. Clothes everywhere. Lingerie everywhere. Decorations everywhere. Kids toys. Housewares. Every time I go in I just want to lounge on the settee and have my servants cater to my every whim. OK, back to reality. As mentioned, Anthropologie is a hodge podge (I mean that in a good way) of clothing, decor and books. The clothes can be a bit over the top but the closer you look the more likely you'll find something of interest. The cool thing is they also have kids toys and housewares. It's almost a one stop shop. Another dose of reality is their prices. They're on the high side, but like many things in life you get what you pay for. Often times you can find the decor items at a better price, but by the time you find (if you even do) you'll likely have spend that much in time and effort. If you have eclectic tastes go here and have a feast of eye candy.

Located just south of the Edmonton city cemetery and literally behind (north) of Oliver Square. It can be a little tricky to find the first time. I have friends that have found some fabulous treasures here in the clothing liquidations but I haven't found that hidden Easter Egg yet. The layout is kinda like a thrift store but way less organized. You need time when you come here to sort and sift through the garbage to find the gems. Also, sign up for their email online for advance notice of sales and coupons. It's a fun little liquidation warehouse but it could be improved significantly with better organization and layout.

They have a wide selection of sizes, from XSmall to 3X. I'm about a size 24/3X and some of their 3X items are almost too big on me, which always makes me smile. The staff treats me with the same respect they give small to average size women, which in my experience doesn't happen often in a plus/regular mix size store. Along with clothing, they have accessories, fun items like socks and sweets, and a wall of personal care items like bath bombs, body cream, hand sanitizer, and aromatherapy. The owner, Laura, is an amazing member of the community who supports other small businesses and brought joy to my family at a rough time when we were missing a loved one. She wasn't asked, she just offered and we will always be thankful to her for her act of kindness.

The quality is fantastic - luscious, cozy, elegant fabrics and designs - sexy & sophisticated, inspired by more than a hint of Paris, and most of the pricing is reasonable, although there are a few higher-end price tags about the store.
