I took my mom to refill some prescriptions and get a new prescription. When I picked up the prescriptions, my mom didn't check them until we pulled away, but once she did she realized the new prescription was missing, and an expensive refill had been added to the order. The doctors office had forgotten to send the new prescription over, so we had to go back through the drive through to get it. We were thinking because we hadn't checked it before pulling away, they would never take the refill back, but we were wrong. Not only did they offer to fix the situation without our asking, they noticed that we had just been there and were so helpful. The refill would have been very expensive and she wasn't ready for it, or the hefty sum of money it would cost. The fact that this was noticed and fixed was so appreciated, it brought me to tears. They are the most professional, lovely, and kind human beings, and knowing that they are looking out for my mom's health gives me some peace of mind. I love this Walgreens!

I'd been looking for a cheap but safe extension cord to use with…read moremy cell phone in motel rooms so I could use it in the evenings and mornings while it was charging and hadn't had any luck at the Dollar Stores I had checked out. I didn't want to spend a lot since I had some at home and might be leaving it behind at the end if my trip and I didn't want one of those pukey green ones they sell in the Xmas stuff. I also wanted a small lotion with a pump top and had only found large versions so far. As I pulled into Alpena I spotted this Big Lots and figured I'd take a quick look for both. They had several extension cords to chose from. I picked up one for $2.50, then set it down when I came across another for only $1.50--perfect! I also picked up a coupla spearmint flavored Carmex chapsticks and some nail scissors. Oh, and I found a small 4oz. Calgon lotion with a pump top that easily locks when you aren't using it that is a perfect travel size (and I love the lotion in it) for only $1.50, too. So I left happy and glad I'd made the stop. The store itself is spacious and well lit and was organized and clean when I was there. The clerks were helpful and efficient. I had no complaints.

A nice standalone store just north of Alpena's Downtown, you could possibly miss if you're driving too fast. I actually saw this driving on a weekday from work, but only had time to visit on the weekend. Around lunch time the place wasn't packed and just a couple customers inside and from their conversations sound like locals doing their weekly check in on new inventory. From the front they have a wall of funkos that greet you and an atrium that wraps around with old consoles from PS3/4's, Xbox's, Nintendo systems then their games. In the middle of all this is their grail/vault with all their high profile pokemon cards. Looking up a couple of them, they're about 5% off from their suggested price online which is really good. Def a place to pick rare cards from. Walking on the way up to the cash register they also have more games and consoles that are more recent. I believe at the time I'm writing this, Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 physically just released and it was in stock when I visited. Lastly they have the latest Pokemon TCG cards right on the counter when you're checking out which prompted me to buy one. Because why not. Really nice local shop and glad I found this little gem

When I ordered last week I found that person was not very friendly either. That's a real turn off for me. Also, I found both times they don't pick up their phone so it took me a few tries each time to get through which was frustrating. An online menu would be helpful too rather than Facebook.
