I've seen tidier Walmarts but I've also seen ones that were a complete mess. My general experience has been that the further I get from Walmart Home Office in Bentonville, the worse the stores tend to be. Not always but it seems that way. We're here in Carthage which is only about an hour away. Mens wear was very tidy. Grocery section was good but I spotted some opportunities for better leveling and too many cardboard boxes on the shelves. Restrooms were clean. I had chosen this Walmart because they do tolerate overnight RV parking in their lot. Arriving at 9:00pm and then leaving at 6:30am, I did stop in for a few snacks and such. Otherwise, I was parked and undisturbed for the night in my Sprinter van before filling up with very inexpensive gas in the morning and heading onwards. After Christmas return of a gift that came from Walmart.com, and did not get the receipt from the gift-giver (out-of-state family). Local store refused to give store credit like they have done for 20 years. Item currently listed on Walmart.com but NOT shown in inventory of local store. First told "Sorry, it's too expensive to get a store credit" ($60 list price), Then told, "Not without a receipt", later told "Sorry it was a Walmart.com (internet purchase) item and it can't be returned here" (been done there before). The extremely gay Customer Service representative hissed and spit his way through several excuses then said "We just cannot help you". We were there to also shop for our once a month grocery stock-up. No more of that. First it was "Self Check-out" now it's poor customer service. We WILL shop elsewhere! read more

The hot food deli counter has 5 people working there. They made it real clear they do not want to wait on customers. You may be totally ignored. The menu has a whole list of fried chicken meals but guess what they are out of fried chicken almost everyday and never replenish. This is at noon lunch hour time and their counter is empty. The employees outnumber the customers in this store so get out of their way because it's all about them. Customers do not matter here. The customer is cancelled by the useless help who do not want to wait on customers. That is why they don't stock their counter with not food. They do not want to wait on anyone. read more

In the height of a pandemic, this store discontinued its covid safety policies. When challenged, a manager claimed the corporate offices set this new policy. There are no other large retailers in Jasper County. This makes me wonder if Walmart is sending a political message attempting to convince shoppers that the pandemic is over while people of Carthage are still dying. read more

This is the worst Walmart I have every stepped foot in! Corporate should stop by without letting them know and see how bad this place is. This is coming from a person who LOVES going to any other Walmart. It is this store that does almost everything wrong. The people ignore you. Even the person at the front whos job it is to say hello will ignore you half the time you enter the store. Both time I ask for help finding something, the employee I ask just pointed and said I think it's down there. We don't even consider going to this Walmart because in only a few trips there they proved that they are not up to Walmart standards in any way. They missed the mark repeatedly on everything from cleaning to service. Don't every get tires here! I got four tires for my Blazer and it took them over three hours to put them on after they started working on it. My wife was calling me asking what was taking so long, then finally called the store and ask them what was taking so long. It was a nightmare. I talked to the guy in charge of the tire and lube area. He said he couldn't ask the employee to hurry because it would be unsafe to hurry someone working on a car. That is a load of Bull! He just didn't want his buddy to have to do any work faster than the pace of a turtle. If I worked there I would fire both of them as well as most of the store employees as a first step to making this forsaken dump start to become professional. I LOVE Walmart and this one is only a few miles from my house but I drive all the way into Joplin so I don't have to set foot in this place. I would give it a zero if I could. This place is also kept very dirty. If anyone from Corporate in Walmart reads this, please do yourself a favor and check this place out. You will not be happy with what you find! read more

This is the worst Walmart I have every they only have one cashier line open.so i used the self check out line i was charged 3 times on one product.I tried to get help with no one around,so i went to the so i tried the cashier line i timed it it took me 20 mins to get out of the store i have it on video on my phone and putting this on youtube. then went I stated to go out of the store a door checker wanted to see my receipt i had every thing in bags i said no i'm not showing my receipt so they said your not going until we see your receipt. so i said im turning everthing back in they said they will give me a gifted card i said no you will give me my money back it took me 20 mins more but i got my cash back and im putting this on youtube worst time iv ever had i will never go back. read more

Worst service, meaning non-existant service in the fabric department today at 2:20 pm!!! Two girls working, one blond with black roots and a brunette, both maybe 23. Blonde was cutting fabric for customer, the other on her phone, picking up rubberbands and neither acknowledged me, asked if i needed anything, told me they would be with me in a moment, NOTHING!!! Stood there for a good 10 minutes. Only wanted to ask if they carried something! I'll definitely drive to Joplin for better service, that's for sure!!! read more

Big difference between this store and what passes in Joplin on Range Line. Staff friendlier, smarter, maybe even better looking. I think this store may be a bit smaller than the one on Rangeline. But, the store in Joplin needs to be bigger to hold their ego. Prices could be a bit more but the lack of attitude is more than enough to stick with this place. As with the other stores in this section of town, it's easy to get in, get out and back on the highway. I've found their automotive department to be a lot better than in Joplin. At least here, I don't have to put sticky notes on the car to clue the staff in at Joplin with "This is a tire." "This is the car hood." I've also found that this store has a larger and more varied clearance than in Joplin. On clearance stuff, it's always going to be hit or miss. To the credit of the Carthage police department, they are on top of people parking in handicap and no parking zones. I guess some people think "no parking" means, "park here as long as you like." Don't know what the ticket price is for parking in a no parking zone but hats off for keeping the driveway drivable. Only thing I don't like is they don't put paper towels in the bathroom. I was told the same line as in Joplin who's pulling the same stunt: It's corporate. It's "greener" to use the hand dryer rather than paper towels. That's really stupid. Carthage has its own power plant and has operated it since the 1940s. It's not coal it's a fuel based one and I would assume under such a title they mean diesel. So, how is it "greener" to use electricity generated by diesel? That's their only black mark in trying to fool the customer. Joplin isn't any better. They tell the same story. It's "greener." Well, I doubt things have changed much over the years. I believe that Joplin gets it's power from the Riverton, Kansas plant and unless they converted it to wind, that's a coal fired power plant. Must be the same manager who runs both stores. I bet he came here from Burger King, because he sure is trying to sell some WHOPPERS over at these stores. read more

Is it me or does it seems every Walmart i know of seems to drop all the items that seem to sell well. A couple times a year they discontinue an item that sells well and leave the ones that stagnate on the shelves. read more
