I became very ill with Food Poisoning and had to be rushed via ambulance to nearest hospital after coughing up blood and what I had eaten which was a can of vegetable soup and sliced meat from Food 4 Less. I was diagnosed with acute Food Poisoning. I checked the rest of cans bought from there and all double stamped; 1 date past expiration date by more than two months! read more

I was making banana bread when I realized I was a couple bananas short. Most grocery stores sell green bananas so my hopes weren't high. Came to get a discounted Dave Grohl CD. THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY. SO WHY IS IT CALLED FOO FOR LESS. FALSE ADVERTISING. I used to shop at this grocery store all the time when I lived in California in the San Fernando Valley because it was Dirt Cheap, and I could live off it without spending too much money. So I was driving through Joplin one day and what do I see but Food 4 Less! I was pretty delighted because I didn't even know they had them out this way, nor that they even still existed (it's been years). I swung by and it's a lot smaller than the one in the Valley that I used to go to. Similar in some ways but with less International stuff. Not a big fan of warehouse food stores like this. Food is not attractively displayed, and is not well organized and consequently hard to find. Actually did not seem appreciably cheaper. Also, not a very happy place; shoppers seemed depressed. read more

I browsed here briefly. I was unable to shop due the the strong odor that'll slam you the second you enter the building. Produce selection is surprisingly pitiful, dashing my expectations of what the produce should be like in a southern state with a longer growing season than the upper Midwest. Not as wide a variety as I've grown to expect from grocery stores. Prices, I don't really know how they compare for this area, so I gave them 3 stars. Some of the stuff (produce) was much higher priced than I can find back home, which was again surprising and disappointing. They are the only grocery store within walking distance of all the main hotels, which might make prices skew slightly higher on things that don't require an over or a stove, but that's just a guess. I guess I don't have a choice but to shop here, which will require me to completely change my diet. Great salads with a variety of interesting proteins are no longer an option for my hotel lunch & dinner menu. Pity. read more

Over all we found what we were looking for. No baggers though but over all or a bad place to shop. FYI we like Walmart market better.

Best store in town. They have clearance items every day for fantastic prices. Who pays fifty cents for a container of ham? Name brands too! read more

Food 4 Less is a good place to go for frozen pizza, generic soda, and family sized cereal. They have a lot of good specials. If you ever see them with the Carnage Sale sign up, go in if you are a meat lover. They do that sale a couple times a year. They will have butchers out in the back by the meat. You pick a large bag of what ever type of meat you want and they cut it up the thickness you want and repackage it then place it all back in the brown bag for you and you pay that price. The deals are really good and the meat for some reason tastes a lot better then than if you buy it at other time. Most likely it's because it's so fresh and cut thick enough. Their stakes are cut thin for my liking otherwise so I usually don't buy steak there unless it's the Carnage Sale. When we go we always watch the prices. They are much lower in cost on certain items, but on other items they are very overpriced. Take for example a gallon of milk was advertised in the store with a big sign over it saying it was only $4.??. If you did not know that a gallon of milk at Sam's Club the same day was only $3.??, the sign does give it the impression of a good deal when really it's almost a dollar more. Grapes as we came in were $1.89/lb. as we came in the door but in produce the same grapes in a different bag were $2.89/lb. We went back and got some of the grapes in the cheaper package because one was a good deal and the other was not. Be careful you get the right package if you get what is on sale or you will pay full price without realizing it. They do have good deals if you just know what you want and how much other places are charging for the same thing. it's also a great place to get BBQ sauce. They carry the same brands for much less than most other places. read more

Worst quality of products and poor customer service. I went in this morning to pick up a few items and walked past 7 employees who did not greet me or make eye contact. Prices are high and produce has a poor selection. Would not shop here if i didnt have to. read more

This is always a favorite place too, especially if you hate the big supermarket crowds. They really do have great prices on most things. I like their meat department, great prices and its always fresh. read more
