    I've never been a fan of Walmart, but sometimes, much more recently, I go here for convenience. Every time I come here, I remember that I told myself that I would not do this again, but I just did. Just like the good ole' college days when you wake up Sunday morning, when you should be at church thinking, I'm never going to do that again. But, Tuesday comes around and the local watering hole has 10 cent wings and dollar PBRs. You invite everyone you know and close the place down. Yeah, kinda like that. I knew I shouldn't, but I just did. So, I bought the norm, nothing really I could have done with out. The lines are ALWAYS long and I've never seen sales associates or checkers filling up even half of the check out lines. Hello? You're Walmart, get more people to actually work and get your customers taken care of. While in line, which has been at least 15 minutes on average, I have to listen to conversations of other people in line complaining about things I really do not want to hear about. Cell phone etiquette might be the worst I've ever experienced in this Walmart and every other Walmart I've been to. You know what I really hate, what really bothers me? The feeling of accomplishment after leaving the check out line, turning the corner and seeing the "volunteer." The nice old lady, the grandpa type, the defensive guard, the lineman, the rent-a-cop, the supposed store security person armed with a cup of coffee and smiley stickers. Just the sight of this employee gets under my skin. I think personally it's the fact that I have to show my receipt as I walk out of the store that bugs me most. I'm usually just ready to get the heck out of Dodge and leave after waiting in line forever with both hands full of toilet paper and cheese puffs. Then I have to be harassed by the nice little old lady. This to me is a semi-accusation that I've stolen something and I have to prove that I did not. Really?? I can not think of any other store I've been to that does this other than Sam's Club, Walmarts ugly step sister. It might be the fact that they have so many cameras in the ceiling that they can not afford to hire enough eye balls to watch everything. Please put those unneeded security people at a check stand.

    Their optical employees leave something to be desired in customer service. They acted like they didn't want to be there. Move on ladies.

    WM's app actually saves you quite a bit for purchasing online, and picking up the order up from customer service. Not too shaby.

    These so called managers have no business working for this wonderful company it's literally…read moredisgusting that they hired females like these two. Upon walking in these two were both sitting down gossiping not greeting any customers I thought they were customers until I saw one of them ring up a customer. They both looked annoyed that there were people in there shopping. I asked for a fitting room. She never said if you need anything let me know nope all she did was open the door and leave no smile nothing. I needed a smaller size and sent my daughter to look for it. Since she couldn't find it she went to ask the cashier for help. She refused to help my daughter she ignored her completely. While I was in the fitting room I heard the cashier whining about people wanting the doors open to try on things. When I got out my daughter told me what happened. I walked up to the register and she refused to acknowledge me standing there and kept gossiping with the African American woman. I said I'm ready to ring out they both smirked at each other while the girl in green rolled her eyes and got up as slow as she possibly could. When she got up to the register I asked her if she had a problem doing her job and she just smirked at me. They both refused to give me their names after I confronted her about how they treated my daughter. They said they didn't need to and that by them being managers they could do whatever they wanted. It's no wonder they have no people in there actually spending money! You need to get rid of these two! The African woman was claiming she was the hiring manager has no business working there dressed the way she does. Wearing crocs to work?! They clearly don't dress to represent this beautiful company!

As it happens, I was in the market for a new backpack for travels I will be taking in the near future. I was interested in a backpack that was either waterproof or watertight as I will be hiking in a coastal area that will be subjected to intermittent rainfall of a heavy nature. I called your store and inquired about such backpacks and was told that you had many to choose from. The following day August 10th I drove an hour to your store and began looking around in the backpack department. An employee who I assume was assigned to the department asked me if there was anything I was looking for. I opened the REI app on my phone and showed the man an example of what I was looking for. This employee was about 5'9" tall with brown hair and a short beard. I do not remember his name because the interaction was so unlike what I am used to at REI that I left completely confused. When I showed the employee, what I was looking for is immediate response was, " we don't carry that type of product, you need to go to Gear Junction. They will have everything you need." I looked at your employee with complete confusion as he was recommending that I go to a competitor and did not even bother to ask me why I was looking for a particular backpack. I said to the employee, I don't want to go Gear Junction, I always buy my hiking equipment at REI. He looked me straight in the face and said we don't carry waterproof rafting equipment here you need to go to Gear Junction. I attempted to explain to him that I was not going rafting that I was going hiking and why I was looking for a backpack. He seemed completely uninterested and again suggested I go to your competitor. Finally, I asked him. Is there anything in the store that you can show me That is in a 22 L size backpack so I can at least get an idea of what I'm looking for. He waved his arm briefly toward a rack of backpacks and said it'll be somewhere between here and there and then walked away. I stood there confused for a while and attempted to look at backpacks and finally decided to help with it. I had other items that I needed to look for, but I was so upset by this man's insistency that I go shop with the competitors that I left the store. I went to my car and sat there for a while and thought about doing this one star review then and there, and I even thought about going back into your store and asking to see the manager. However, I was so upset. I knew that that would not be the prudent thing to do so I came home and allowed myself to cool down. The following day did exactly what your employee suggested, and went to Gear Junction. The Young man working there was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about backpacks. After listening to what type of trip I was going to be taking he suggested that I probably did not need a completely waterproof backpack, but that what I needed was a water tight backpack. He showed me several, and the one that I liked the most was made by Osprey. I assume that you carry the same backpacks at REI. I eventually decided on a backpack for my trip, but I did not buy it at your REI store. This is unfortunate because I have shopped with REI since the day you opened at your old location on seventh Street. I am not suggesting that your employee was rude to me. He was not in the classical sense. However, he was completely disinterested as to why I was in the store or what I was looking for and to what end. Had he taken just a little bit of time to find out why And what I needed I would've bought something that day. As it is, you've lost out on a good sale and if I encounter this type of behavior again at your location, I will discontinue shopping local and identify the Denver store as my home store and just shop online. I do not like to do this as I like to support our local businesses. However, I will not support this complete lack of customer service. I hope that you take this review in stride and make the reasonable management decision to have a discussion with this employee so that this does not replicated itself in the future. Enclosing I will add that this is the first time this is ever happened to me at any REI location.

    After driving, riding, or walking past this place countless times over the years without even…read morenoticing it, I lucked out and wandered in while searching for holiday gifts downtown. I immediately noticed the red Herman Miller sofa, bright woven rugs and hand-rubbed Danish MCM tables... South West handmade jewelry, military surplus, new old stock Carhartt & Levi's, broken-in leather boots, vintage wool and waxed canvas clothing, old Boy Scout hatchets, 70's stereo equipment, vintage vinyl, antique signage (not repro), and the list goes on and on. The thing about stores like this, is that in a year or even a few days the entire businesses' stock can be totally rotated out: snatched away by a collector and gone forever. This place is practically a museum and a snapshot in time of "how things used to be". The "stuff" in this store was built to last and is often one-of-a-kind. I had my eye on a few things in the store and hope that I can get back there to grab them before someone else does. I can think of no better place downtown to find a unique gift for a loved one.
