The Houghton Lake Walmart has to be the worst Walmart ever. I just left there and the third time in two months My credit card didn't work but when I got home the credit card company said there's nothing wrong with it. It's so frustrating. Sat at the bay door 2/16/2025 to get my oil changed. 20 mins later the customer in front of me was turned away and said they were closed for staffing meeting and would open up later in the afternoon. C'mon, this is the biggest retailer in the world. Get your act together. read more

Besides family fare, Walmart is the only big "one stop shop" in the area. I've never been disappointed coming here as they offer literally everything you could possibly need. During Covid, Walmart handled pickup services exceptionally and we were very please with the quality items that were picked and the service we received. read more

me and my mom went food shopping and one of the things we got was the little talenti gelato ice creams we didn't look much at it but when we got home my mom went to open it and the seal was peeled halfway off and what looks like a tongue mark is in the middle of the ice cream. read more

This is the worst Walmart location I have ever been to. Every staff member I encountered was extremely rude. They also wouldn't sell me alcohol even though I am 22 years old with a valid ID. I will never be doing business here again. read more

I remember when this store opened as a Supercenter in early 2000s. They offered crazy low prices that drive Dollar General out for awhile, then jacked their prices up. Still, despite being a Walmart, the Gen. Mgr was a very nice Southern man, who hired friendly employees and hey, you could buy cilantro in Houghton Lake finally. This store has changed for the worse. Employees seem angry. They act like it's a real struggle to help you and every department is short staffed. Can't reach a mgr when you need one (nice Southern man is long gone, transferred out by corporate, or so I'm told), and their new "pick up service," which I thought would be amazing especially if I could use my charge to help my daughter buy emergency stuff without giving her my card, is a JOKE! It's never ready when they say it is, and it takes quite awhile to get someone to even acknowledge you are there for a pick up order. Another review said sometimes you have to go there when Family Fare doesn't have what you need, and that's how I'd rate them: only go for the couple of hard to find things you can't get at the newly reopened Dollar General or Family Fare. If you can wait and take a trip to Cadillac and go to Meijer, even better! read more

I actually happen to love my local Houghton Lake Walmart supercenter! I especially love the store since they updated everything and now it looks nice and fresh and clean. They have a wide variety of things that holds my interest and makes me want to keep coming back for more. They usually have what I'm looking for when shopping in store. My recommendation is if you see something you want or need get it right that second because if you go back to get it 5 minutes later it will be gone and they don't always get it back in stock later. For the most part the employees are friendly, this makes my shopping experience better. read more

Typical crappy Walmart, dirty, the floor looks like a auto repair shop, bare concrete with a clear coat over it,poor service employees are mostly very rude, the greeter is good tho, poorly stocked shelves maybe partly understandable due to covid but who knows the true situation. they eliminated a lot of items so pretty much just the basics but the booze isles are very well stocked, go figure.... waiting for the new Meijers to open in West Branch I will make the drive for a way better store. read more

I had to give a star just to get is far but honestly I didn't even want to give them a star. I called trying to get the electric area, so I got to the service desk and the lady I believe her name was Christine and she was very rude. She had the attitude like "I have better stuff to do" then when i got back to the electric counter. I asked the lady if they have the Amazon Echo and all she said was "no that's only amazon sells that" and she hung up. Not sure what kinda of operation you guys are running over there in Houghton lake but it's bull shit. Train your people to be nice cause I will drive to gaylord Walmart before I ever go to Houghton lake Walmart. read more

Yup, this is a walmart. Exactly what you expect. You may have to come here in Houghton Lake when the Family Fare doesn't have what you need.

Walmart, just like any other Walmart. It is the same. Occasionally when I ask somebody for help they are all like ok this is over here and yah bye bye. They don't give you their time. Sometimes when I ask for help finding something they say, "its in aisle 8 would you like me to show you?" A handful of the staff are nice and give you their time. Some staff give you their time even when they are busy, which is like all the time. The other staff are rude and act like your stupid when you ask them a question. read more
