Worst birthday cake ever for my birthday but just took it. When ordering cake the worker in bakery section did not know how to use the tablet. Saying the other workers were in lunch. Told her the color I wanted which was not this wanted white with purple letting and purple outline. It sure doesn't look like advertisement. Had to scrape off my name.due to it looking like a child did it. Whomever is in the bakery should not be there and they need to someone with more experience. I've been to this location twice. As many of you know if you have read my reviews, I'm NOT a Walmart fan. I have no complaints regarding this location or my recent trip here. Self checkout is a breeze. Employee I encountered in the electronics department was very helpful. He also was standing really close to. Guess he liked that southern charm I embodied. Better stocked Walmart than the other ones in town. After 9-10pm it's sketchy but I regularly take my family there during the day and it's more relaxed, quiet, and bigger than the other big Walmart in town. Staff are usually pretty friendly. Added bonus that it's not packed with college students so it's better stocked and quieter. read more

The keyboard on my laptop decided that it doesn't want to play and I don't have time to wait for an Amazon delivery, so we're off to the electronics department for a cheap USB keyboard. While here, we did some shopping for snacks. It's interesting how many different items have inventory concerns at this Walmart Supercenter. Juices, sodas, some fruits, all with "holes" in the shelving. But then, that's what I have come to expect from Walmart these days. Disappointment. In July I went in there looking for pool supplies (floats) and their selection was bare bones. I asked about more and was told no more were being ordered. It's in the middle of July/middle of summer and you're not gonna order more for the season? You gotta be freaking kidding me. Aside from that, I do prefer this location over Wards Rd. The store is a typical Walmart but they have removed the checked lines with self check out. With no space to pack your things they have filled all the space around self check out with trash to buy. Should be zero stars. Absolutely the worst Wal-Mart I have ever been to. You can literally go to this Wal-Mart and there be no self check-out and no one on a register. Note: I did not write this based on 1 experience. It has taken me multiple trips to finally get fed up enough to write this. If you want to wait for a half hour at the one and only register in the entire store to have a light on but no employee working, this is the place for you. I have had bad experiences before at this store, but today topped them all. I came in to get a few items and to also return an item. I told the lady when I came in and she told me customer service was not open until 7 am. So, I went about my shopping and by the time I got to the one line with a check out person it was after 7am. So I said good morning and how are you and then asked if the customer service was opening. She said..."I can't tell you anything different than the lady who you spoke to when you came in." Very snotty. So, I said."gosh! I was just asking if they are open yet, since its after 7" and she laughed at me and said "thats funny". She was very rude,arrogant and snotty. Never gave me a total, never said thank you. Just laughed at me because I dared to asked if customer service was open yet. Par for the course for that Walmart. That was the last time I'll set foot in that store. read more

I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter last week to be picked up this week. The cake was beautiful. It was exactly what I wanted, with purple icing and lovely yellow wild flowers. The cake was delicious. The bakery staff are so friendly and did a wonderful job. Thank you so much. read more

There is an employee named Wilson here. He was so kind and attentive to my mom when she came into the store this afternoon. She was upset over an injured animal and was looking for help finding a cat carrier. Wilson noticed she was upset and not only help her find the cat carriers, but even helped her put it together in the store! She is older and unable to complete projects like this with ease, so I am so grateful for this level of excellent customer service. Thank you Wilson and Walmart! read more

This Walmart is a well kept one. My biggest problem with this Walmart along with many of the Walmarts, is that they never have enough lanes open to check out. It's one of the cleaner Walmart around. They could do a better job of keeping their grocery shelves stocked and the product in the right place. Other than that its not a bad Walmart. Employees are friendly and if you're looking for something will take you to it instead of telling you what aisle to look in. read more

Absolutely horrible. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Went in to get a few groceries, money gram and pay rent. The apples in produce were smelly and rotten. The floors of most of the store were sticky and dirty. The line for customer service/money grams was backed up way into other isles. Only ONE employee was back there and the manager who appeared a few times just rolled his eyes and looked like he didn't give a crap about anything. Waited in line for over a half hour and then was helped by someone who didn't know what they were doing at all. The people before us that were helped by her stood directly next to the register (because apparently they needed extra assistance from the manager). They stood way to close...like were eyeballing everything when me and my husband were receiving the money order and paying rent. I do not appreciate that and felt uncomfortable. The lady behind the counter then proceeds to give us ONE DOLLAR in change back when the computer says 30$. Now I understand working all day and a mess up but we had to say something to her about it because she was already trying to help other people. Then she gives us a 20$...still wrong change. When my husband went in to get the last $10 they tried refusing him saying they couldn't prove it. Over all it was a horrible experience and I will not be going back there. From management to produce...they are lacking. read more

Horrified. All of my life I had been looking for a new goldfish friend. I was browsing the pet section on the fateful day of this occurrence. I took a left down to look at the goldfish tanks and to my horror the tanks had been empty and the were no tanks to be seen; sitting like hollow husks of the life that once lived in them. It was an emotional moment but I have been able to recover due to the Oui yogurt sold in the dairy section and of course a box of goldfish. Harry out see you next time Walmart. read more

expect way more from a store like this one than the service and lack of customer service I've recently been experiencing. The customer service is awful! I've not had anything good to say about this location but that it's closer to my house than wards but when it comes to where I spend my money I'd definitely go somewhere else based on the lack of professionalism, customer service from all levels of employees, and just lack of plain decency. Oh and did I mention incompetency? Yes incompetent and rude at the same time now that's a lot of nerve. I tried to return an item to customer service and the cashier accused me of overusing the item and I has only tested it out once and decided it wasn't worth the money. When she refuses to return the item she lies and said that I really got use out of the item and the manager refused to return it. So I called corporate and they were shaking their heads and just told me to go to the next Walmart which I did and was in and out in less than 5 minutes with my refund. Every time I go to customer service they roll their eyes and whisper and laugh to one another right in front of my face. The manager are rude lazy and miserable at their job and this is not an assumption this is an observation. I have been sick recently so I decided to try ordering my products online one reason being how miserable everyone always looks and it's depressing to go into that walmart and deal with incompetence. Was that a good solution to my problem?? Nope. They messed up my orders twice! I tried calling them and nobody was handling the calls. The first time a manager said she'd call me back and fix it. No call back. Next day I try to order groceries and a microwave because mine broke. I got confirmation of my express order at 10:28 am. I received SOME of my items at approximately 7:30 pm!! They forgot to give the microwave to the delivery person so I'm home sick with frozen dinners that I can't cook so yesterday I had a slice of cake and bologna for dinner after waiting 10 hours for it to be delivered on a express order. They canceled the entire order immediately after delivering the food that I can't eat without a microwave and instead of resending the items they forgot. An assistant manager called me was he empathetic? Nope? Was he helpful? Nope? Was he even competent enough to find a solution? Not in the absolute least. What I'm trying to figure out now is what the hiring process is for this location because it seems like they will hire anybody and I'm looking for a job for my cat. It doesn't seem like their requirements for employment are very high! read more

We have been using Walnart grocery pickup since it came to Lynchburg. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The one time they made a mistake, they corrected it right away. If one of your items is unavailable, they will substitute it with a larger one, for the same price. I cannot recommend this service highly enough! read more

I shopped at this location since it opened. I can no longer get myself to go in there again. One of their very best employees, Mr Gil passed away the first day of March. He was always happy and energetic. Very early on the morning of his passing, before anyone knew about it, I was there with my son picking up a few things. I noticed his car wasn't there. I always parked my car behind his when I would shop there. He didn't always work on Fridays so that didn't concern me. When we returned home, I was looking for a recent obituary that I wanted to show my son about a young man that had recently passed away in our neighborhood. We had a conversation about it earlier. When I found the obituary link and clicked on it my heart fell to the floor and I could not breathe as tears rolled down my face. Mr Gil's obituary had just been posted on that very site. My dear friend had earned his wings. Walmart had put a table out in the front with his picture, name tag and a condolence book for people to sign. I'm glad I found out when I was at home because I truly would have been a mess if I had walked into Walmart and saw that table. It's been almost 5 months since his passing and I think of him daily and I miss him dearly. Years ago I wrote to corporate about him and how wonderful he was to everyone and how he had a way of making your day so bright. I met Mr Gil at the Wards Rd Walmart back in 2003 when I first moved to Lynchburg. He was one in a million. A true angel. read more

I realize they don't price match but if the shelf in the store has one price but it rings up another shouldn't they honor the price on the shelf if it is under $5.00. Well not this Walmart Neighborhood Market. Pointed the discrepancy out to employee and store manager. The response I got from store manager was 'I'll have that shelf price change right away' not I'll give it to you at the shelf price and change it nope to much like right. Just returned from this Walmart and hopping mad about this store although the Appomattox store we often shop at has the same issues. Very few registers open, isles clogged with stock and rude re-stockers who refuse to move or position their stocking carts and boxes to allow CUSTOMERS to shop and pass. They try to ignore the fact that you need to shop down that isle. The Employee "shoppers" filling on-line orders also hog and clog the aisles with their oversized carts and are oblivious to other customers trying to shop. They block the isles to be sure they get done their on-line orders first. All this creates a very difficult and stressful environment for in-store shopping. Stocking should be done at night or low customer traffic hours. "On-line" orders should not take precedence over store shoppers. Poorly managed store! read more

The bathrooms are NASTY! I can't even sit on the toilet. Its gross! 3. The staff associates are awful! They will talk to you like your a piece poop! 4. The vegetables are soo rotten you can't even look at them. So thats why i give it 3 stars. I much prefer kroger. But it is a nice place. I shopped at the Madison Heights Walmart yesterday (Sunday afternoon 10/25/2020). I typically go to the one on Wards Road but I have been to this store in the past (probably about a moth ago). It was by far the least COVID safe place I have been to since March 15. More than 50% of the patrons were not wearing masks. The security guard who was supposed to be handing out masks was busy on her cell phone. There was no cart attendant and no wipes for carts. I notified the security guard that the wipes were out, and she said, "I don't actually WORK here. I am just security." I spent my typical $200 in groceries and at the check out asked the cashier about the masks. She said that there wasn't anything Walmart could do to make customers wear a mask and that every customer was offered a mask at the door. I explained that I couldn't even get the security guard to look up from her phone when I asked her about the wipes. She said she would tell a manager later. On the way out, I explained to the security guard that probably 50% of the customers in the store were not wearing masks and she shrugged her shoulders and puckered her lips as if to say, "I couldn't care less." Now, I wear a mask but am otherwise not a COVID anxious person...but let me tell you folks, this place isn't even displaying the minimal standards of hygiene. It is not a safe place to shop and really needs to be investigated by the health department. read more
