I have mixed feelings about this Walmart Neighborhood Market. On the plus side, it is the closest…read moresupermarket to my home. It has the best prices for the food and snacks my dog likes, has good prices on the medical supplies I buy monthly, and I recently discovered they now carry Guinness in bottles and cans. They also have plenty of self checkout stands and I hardly ever have to wait to check out. But one part about the checkout brings me to the negatives. The single biggest negative is that Walmart does not accept Apple Pay so I have to dig out a physical credit card to pay. And I refuse to use their funky Walmart pay system with QR codes. So I shop here once a month for dog stuff, medical supplies, and Guinness, and make most of my grocery purchases at Baker's, Target or Hy-Vee since they all take Apple Pay.

My wife wanted to buy me some Docker's pants for Christmas and we decided to try this JC Penny's. Since it is in Town Center, parking was definitely not a problem. We were greeted at the entry and given "surprise" discount cards. They had a good selection of Docker's and we found what we wanted at a great price. When walking around we found some great discounts on Hagar pants, flannel shirts, and cold weather jackets so they went into the shopping basket as well. Checkout was fast, efficient and friendly. The clerk ran us up in two separate purchases so we could use both discount cards. And the final price was a LOT cheaper than I expected. The store definitely had some great holiday discounts. JC Penny's has gotten a bad reputation over the years so I was somewhat reluctant to shop there. But we had a great experience since on this visit we received friendly service from every employee we encountered, good selection of the things we wanted, and nice discounts. I was going to give it 4 stars, but as I wrote this review I realized we had a 5 star visit so changed my overall rating.

A white blonde female staff completely ignored me--not once, but THREE times. She brought orders to customers who arrived after me while pretending like I wasn't even there. No explanation. No apology. Nothing. I couldn't help but notice that every customer she served ahead of me was white, while I--an Asian customer--was left ignored. Whether intentional or not, her actions made me feel discriminated against and humiliated. I have NEVER experienced anything like this at Target before. This isn't just bad service--it's completely unacceptable. Target, you need to take this seriously. Ignoring customers based on how they look is NOT OKAY. I expect a real explanation and accountability for this disgusting experience. This ruined my day and completely shattered the trust I've always had shopping here.
