They post their sales flyer on their Facebook page each week. I came in wanting to purchase some steaks that were on sale. Based on how low the per pound price was, I wasn't expecting much. But the steaks were lean and looked really great. They have a large selection of Amish prepared foods. Lots of jellies, etc. I also was impressed with the large number of Walnut Creek spice blends they offered. I can't wait to try them. The store was very neat and well laid out. I was warmly greeted by every single employee. I will definitely be back soon.

My family wanted to get me a cake and some candles. I had just moved into town and they wanted to make a small little celebration out of it. The store staff was very helpful, helping us find matches, a cake, and some candles. They were very nice and welcomed me into town. Really nice people! I have since come here a few times to buy some essentials, milk, chocolate, some microwave dinners, soda, etc. Not much I can buy since I am living out of a hotel with no kitchen except a microwave. I have walked around a bit and noticed their food is much cheaper than it was in Miami... especially it's produce section. It also has a fairly large section for alcohol. I am used to only having an aisle for wine and one for beer in my old grocery store back in Miami. They also sell hard liquor here, which is a change that surprised me. I will know more about it as I buy more often from here, especially food/ingredients I can actually cook. Still it's my neighborhood grocery store and like I said, the people are very friendly.

I may move to Fountain City, just to be closer. Fountain City is run by local Amish. They produce and sell just about everything including furniture, dry goods, cheese and other dairy products. The shop is immense and immaculate. The shelves are filled with colorful candy, locally produced grains and flour, pasta galore, and more. At one end of the store is a bakery selling fresh donuts, pies and fry cakes. At the other end is a deli, making fresh sandwiches to order. The sandwiches are amazing. I had a turkey and ham sandwich on rye. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese and fresh toppings. This was the best sandwich that I have had in a long time and it was $3.99. There is no place to eat inside, so you must take your food to go. The staff were friendly and efficient. The cheeses are amazing and flavorful. I picked up horseradish and bacon cheeses. The prices are reasonable. You can even buy chicken coups and outbuildings. There was an extensive collection of bird food and custom feeders. There is plenty of mid week parking, but probably crowded on weekends. Bring a cooler. This shop is fabulous.

Checkout girl was almost done when she stopped and said you can't buy both of these paper items (Dixie cups and paper plates, both generic, not 2 of anything like I might be hoarding during a shortage). I didn't understand and she said it again and added "you have to choose one". I said so what is my punishment if I don't obey the rule? She said I can't ring up both. I just couldn't obey. I said, "I know it's not your fault but you tell Kroger management that they have lost a loyal customer. I will leave this whole order here and walk out of your store rather than choose between 2 paper items when I really needed them both!" And I did just that. It was obvious the girls checking and bagging had no training about this issue or how to deal with a customer about it. They did not offer to call the manager or problem solve in any way. I am 67, have severe arthritis pain and could not face the option of buying one then going to another register for the 2nd paper item. I filed a complaint with customer service online that same evening. Next day I got a courtesy call from an office in Ohio saying they received the email and were passing it on to customer service. Nothing since then.

They said, and I quote "we only have (2) $10s and (10) $5 and won't break a $50 this early in the morning." I was putting $25 on the car to fill it up. This is absurd. Absolutely absurd. Meijer, get your ish together. It was 8am on a Sunday. They said I could go into the store and break it and come back. Well, can't you just ask for change from the cash window then? Yes, yes you can. Drove to Casey's. They broke my $50 no problem.

I was looking for the canned vegetables that were on sale when an employee approached me to let me know the cans were set up in the main aisle. He even walked me over to show me exactly where they were. Great service & always with a pleasant attitude. Love this store!
