You know you're practically ruling the world when a review of your store can only be compared to your other stores. If you don't already know what Walmart is, what they have, and what they do...there's no possible way you're reading a Yelp review. This Walmart is beyond suspect and sketchy. Sure I don't live around here...but what the hell do you need a security guard for? Forget it...I totally get it. The appearance of this Walmart resembles the same issues that made people stop going to Kmart back in the nineties. "Here's our cheap crap. This place sucks, i was in the Twin Cities for the day and needed something so i figured run into walmart. The store was packed, and very few lanes were open, hardly any workers anywhere. Security Gaurds at the front doors. I left without buying anything. read more

I should have known but I was going to give them one more chance. I went shopping there, had a cart full of items and get up front to check out and one light was on to check out. Seriously!!! They had so many people wanting to check out and no cashiers to do it. They want you to shop there but they don't want to check you out. Went there alone for the first time in years and was harassed by another customer. There were no associates around for me to get help from. The guy finally left me alone and I finished my shopping. When I walked out of the store the man was WAITING FOR ME. This place isn't safe. read more

Called the store to see if they had a certain blu-ray player. First person to answer the phone could not speak English. Who the hell gave her that job? She transferred to another line where the guy told me he'll look for it. 5 minutes later I get transferred to another lady who told me she was going to transfer me to yet another person. This lady was the first to speak English clearly. After she told me she'll look for it, this lady put me on hold for ten minutes. 20 minutes on the phone in total, I hung up. I don't even need to visit the store in person to know that the people who work there are untrained and don't speak the king's language. read more

This review is for their Hardware department. This is the only Walmart I've ever been to that doesn't sell locks! No key locks, no combination locks, yea, they just don't sell any! I had to drive all the way to the Walmart in Woodbury to get what I needed. Their TLE department is pretty friendly about checking your items out though. This is the only store in the tcma that carries Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel...according to the nice customer service rep I spoke to last week. I kind of dig the west side and southish st paul, but this place was kind of etch a sketch. I was in there for only a few minutes, so I can't tell you how well the aisles were set up for shopping. I can only tell you that I stocked up so I wouldn't have to repeat the trip in the near future. :) read more

I was told by a Walmart employee today that she could scan my groceries except my bacon croissants because of her religion. since when did religion matter over providing customer service when you work at Walmart, she need to be fired. this store is terrible and customer service sucks. read more

I will never order online to pick-up merchandise from this store ever again! What a joke! I ordered a new cell phone on Walmart.com and the only option it gave me was to pick it up from a Walmart location. I went to the West Saint Paul location. I had to walk through the entire store to the back to pick-up my order and then was told I had to wait because the clerk was doing something on the computer. The whole reason I placed my order online was to avoid having to go through the store. I don't do well with crowds and this store is always busy. My experience totally sucked!!!!! read more

I had purchased a vacuum cleaner from this store a few weeks ago. As I bought this because I was moving into a new apartment I had not opened until this last weekend. Upon opening the box i removed the hose attachment and noticed that the end was very scratched up and had what appeared to be paint marks on it, as well as a paper towel or Kleenex jammed into it, then I noticed the piece at the top of the body was cracked off where the handle should attach to. After seeing this I didn't bother to take the rest out and decided to return/exchange it. As I stated I bought it while moving into a new place and as such I lost the receipt, according to the Walmart return policy returns and exchanges without a receipt were possible, so I figured that I may have to settle for an exchange, a prospect which I would have been fine with. HOWEVER, when I arrived to the store I was informed that no return was possible as this particular store had problems with people taking things off of a shelf and returning them and that an exchange would have to be approved. Given that this store looks like a dump and police and security have to patrol the place constantly it's not surprising (the clientele look the part), but their main website shouldn't advertise policies not all stores follow. So on to the exchange, after standing at the counter waiting for, well at the time I wasn't told who she was, store manager, supervisor, janitor, it took over 5 minutes for her to stroll to the customer service area, stopping to chit chat with other employees along the way, nothing work related while I stood waiting, when she finally got behind the counter she didn't even acknowledge my presence, it was like me being a customer with an issue was a huge inconvenience for her because she actually had to do her job. I explained the situation, they proceeded to take the whole vacuum out, it was even more damaged than I thought it was. I told her that it must have already been returned and put back on the shelf because I hadn't used it yet. She jumped on me saying how that wasn't possible, their employees wouldn't do that and would never have put that back on the shelf. Yeah, I've seen the winners that work over there, I'm sure they couldn't possibly screw up, not to mention Walmart pays their employees next to nothing and treats them like garbage, why would they care? She wouldn't come out and say it but she insinuated that I was lying, destroyed it myself somehow and then tried to get my money back, why would I bother to go to all that trouble for a cheap vacuum I bought on sale? This store made an already long and annoying day even worse with their terrible excuse for customer service. They put broken items back on shelves and sell them to the next sucker and then keep your money. The bottom line is that they don't care about you. Finally I had enough and my anger got the best of me and I told her to shove it up her ass and walked out. I will never shop at that store again, and most likely never at another Walmart, I will happily pay more money to go elsewhere where they have some semblance of giving a shit about customer satisfaction. read more

Ran in to grab some ice chest food and drink. First off, this wm only has an entrance on one end. That will come into play later so don't forget. Grabbed my grub and headed to the front. Holy crap. Half the registers open and still 4-5 people in every line. I know, I'll just do self checkout. Ran all my stuff through no problem. Then came time to use the "look up item" feature. Went to the "I" section for bagged ice. There it is, small or large. Select one. Then I get the "unknown item" message and have to stand there and wait for assistance. When the girl comes over I tell her I'm just trying to get a bag of ice. She says, and I quote..."You done cain't do dat on dis in. You godda hadda bag fo you can." Huh? So I ask where the machine is. "Oh iss donner" and points....you guessed it. All the way down on the end with no exit. Really? What genius decided it made sense to put the ice machine as far from the exit as possible? Probably the same moron that allows you look up ice in the register and then not be able to select it. I don't like going to this Walmart, the shelves are unorganized, it looks messy, hard to find items, and the check out is very long. I was in the area, needed to buy some items and decided to give it another chance. I had my cart full after searching all over for the items I needed. At the checkout they only had 1 cashier open, the rest were automated, self serve, which had a long line. I found a second register with a line and I waited behind 3 others. I was waiting over 10 minutes when the cashier said, this line is closed, you have to go somewhere else. I looked around, the other lane had a line with at least 5 full carts, and the self serve also had a very long line. I pushed my cart up to the entrance, gave my full cart to a sales person, and said I will go somewhere else where they employ enough people to help with check out. It was 11:00 in the morning, not a busy time. Again I realized why I won't go to this walmart. read more

I've never been a big fan of walmart...but like everybody else sometimes you just have to go there. A couple of the cashiers are friendly, but majority of them barely say hi to you. The place is always clean but it just has this vibe to it that isn't a good one. Most of the employees aren't friendly. Charles who assists with the carts outside, is the nicest Walmart associate I have ever encountered. I have lived in California, Nevada and now Minnesota. I have visited many Walmarts he is an exceptional employee who goes the extra mile. I have come here a few times since moving to West St Paul. I was very disappointed that they refused to change my watch battery. Worst was shopping a bit late one evening and my wallet was stolen from my cart while I was in the checkout line talking to the clerk. I won't be back if I can help it. read more

Marlos (not sure if I spelled his name correctly) a short African American, guy from the electronics OR night crew, was outstanding! Especially after working thanksgiving and Black Friday, a hour left into his long shift, was still SUPER helpful, friendly, energetic, running around helping us to find items that he recommended that they still had! Even looking in shop back" carts, that were full of miscellaneous items. Never seen ANY store employee, in all my life" go through so much hassle to help assist with a customer, especially after a long, busy, hectic, night! Wow! I purchased a lot more than one 40" tv, he also upsold me a 50" and 60" tv, and about another 10 items, which were not a part of my plan. He deserves commission! The best employee I've ever met at any retail store, let alone Walmart. He deserves Employee of the YEAR! I did let the night supervisor know, but he seemed to care less. I guess some managers rather hear complaints rather than a compliment. I'm from Milwaukee and in Minnesota for thanksgiving, Marlos made it worth shopping here! He did have 2 other buddies that were helpful but Marlos went over and beyond customer service. 2 of them even made sure we had all we came for and more, and walked us all the way up to the checkout, minutes before the end of their night shift. Once again phone service is terrible at all of them except for the new one in Brooklyn Center. The prices are better then K-mart and they carry many items including food but when customer service is poor it subtracts points and points it does subtract. read more

This is by far the worst Walmart I have ever been to. I choose to shop at Walmart occasionally for the prices, but wow. I would rather spend a few extra bucks at Target a couple blocks over than return to this Walmart. I have been here a few times, and all of them have been about the same. Most of the employees have no idea where their products are located, and if you look confused or are trying to get an employee's attention to ask for help, forget it. They aren't there for you. And if you are on your lunch break and need to get back to work, make sure you head to the check out line with 30 minutes to spare. Always at least 4 people in each line (no matter if I go before, after, or during work), and I always seem to get stuck in the line where a person needs help and the cashier isn't able to assist them so we all have to wait for someone else to come help that takes their sweet time attending to the problem. This place needs a serious adjustment. I've been pleased with other Walmart experiences, but this place leaves me irritated and with a headache. read more
