It's either poorly stocked or being used as a loading dock for other departments. The only time I've seen it cleaned up was when cooperate people were walking around inspecting... go figure Otherwise it's always trashed. One time I was trapped in between some pallets and a bunch of carts and employee had put whenever I went in to get some men's running shorts. I had a fun time climbing my way out. lol. the regular (non seasonal) employees are always nice.

You know- they get shipments of stuff that other stores gave up on, and they sell the stuff at discounted prices. I believe that the trucks come on Mondays, and everything is on the floor by Wednesday. The peeps who work there are friendly and very helpful. They have a seniors' program and also a program for "Fridayers"...if you shop on Friday, you get a discount. Plus, you also rack up points and I now have a $5.00 off coupon, which equals joy. They do have a bathroom that is wheelchair accessible. Here are some of my best finds: -"New Balance" sneaks at just a bit over $20.00 -"Harajuku MinI" from Target -"Waverly" queen quilt for just $20.00 -Fancy, sequined "Old Navy" shirt for $6.00 -"Playmobil" figs for $1.99 each -"Blythe" doll address book for $2.00 (still there) -"1928" earrings for like $1.63 -"Yankee Candles" -"Dockers" in distinguished shades Just a heads-up: Examine items for defects. Clothes with defects is not such a biggie, but a wooden spoon that is crappy is a biggie to me. "Burke's" does accept returns, even if you opened/released the item. (That wooden spoon is history.) However, deeply discounted items (70% to 95%), cannot be returned. Heads up: the manager is slightly tough. She is probably fed up with irrational people. However, if you see broken glass on the floor, tell her. I told other employees three times, but I never witnessed anyone say "So-and-so, go sweep that up", or witnessed anyone sweep it up. I am big on avoiding danger, as I have seen many strange things in my lifetime. Go, and mention me so I can get more discounts.

We sat on the front sidewalk and watched the clouds roll by. I noticed a section of the wall at the front entrance that showed the water lines at different times in history (see picture). That is the kind of history that only an old building has seen. The people that work here are glorious! Very helpful! They made our visit that much more memorable. The landmark is on the National Register of Historic Places and is quite a popular place. While you won't be able to park right out front as they did in the past, there is plenty of parking located conveniently behind the store. W.W. Mast bought a half stake of the business in 1897, then bought the other half in 1913, changing the name to Mast General Store It was truly the Amazon of its day, offering everything you could possibly need with the motto, "goods for the living, coffins and caskets for the dead," which prompted the local phrase, "If you can't buy it here, you don't need it ." When the economy changed and the original store closed in 1977, it was thankfully saved and reopened in 1980 by preservationists John and Faye Cooper The front corner of the store features an active town post office The store spans two levels with beautifully creaking floorboards that instantly let you know you are in a nostalgic place filled with history. A lot of the original advertising posters from Mr. Mast are still mounted on the walls alongside the vintage counters and fixtures The original cast iron potbellied wood stove is still used to heat the store, the functional wooden trap doors in the floorboards still remain from where chickens historically were traded for store credit, and you can even get a cup of coffee for just 5 cents. You will find a massive variety of cast-iron cookware, old-fashioned candy in barrels, postcards, books, high-quality clothing, footwear, toys, and traditional mercantile goods. I even bought a delicious fried apple pie! The historic Little Red Schoolhouse sits right behind the main building and offers clearance merchandise, though I just enjoyed looking at the older architecture and reading about the school.

NEVER TRUST THESE PEOPLE. They do NOT know cars. Now I have to start taking my car elsewhere for oil changes. Now for groceries!! An 18 pack of Walmart eggs is 5.57. Go to Ingles.
