Wish I could give this a MINUS-star rating. The shelves are empty and what little is there is unorganized. Where is the merchandise? Does this store want to sell to customers? HINT to Wal Mart: if you want to sell things, you've got to have things to sell. There is NOTHING there! 70% of the store staff are rude. When this store opened a few years ago, it was an entirely different experience in terms of merchandise and staff. Now, it has deteriorated so far one has to ask: Is this store about to be closed? Hi, I needed to replace my mini fridge asap so I ordered one online to be picked up "same day" at the Washington, DC Walmart at 5929 Georgia Ave Nw. The site showed the product was available and would be ready for same day pickup but don't proceed to the store until the "item ready" email is sent. Well, it's been 5 hours and still no email. I called this particular branch after the first hour and the online pickup department would not pick up. I called several times and after 20 or so rings, I was transferred to customer service who also would not pick up. I refuse to believe Walmart was that busy for 5 hours that they couoldn't answer the phone. I called the main customer service Walmart number to verify this branch is open till midnight. Customer service verified that it was. I made the order at 4:30pm which is well before the same day cutoff time. I really needed to replace this ailing fridge and save my goods. If I knew Walmart wasn't going to help me even on "their" terms, I would have taken another option. I have cancelled the order. Oh wait, I will have to wait even longer now that there's been a hold placed on my debit card for the "full" amount and will take 1-3 days to drop off. Thanks Walmart! I won't be back. read more

sadly, if i could give a rating of-0, it would b extremely appropriate.on mon. i needed dog food, because i didn't notice, that i had run out. i immediately, ordered online, stressing that it b picked up, the same day. i got one email, saying that my order was being processed. itried again on tuesday & i noticed that my credit card, had been debited. i called & was passed around & around, always the end result, n the land of hold. i called another number. the young lady, said that she would check. after being on hold 26 minutes, another voice said "is a customer on the phone"? the individual said "yes". the voice, advised her, 2 hang up that phone, "u know, that they've hung up, by now" . i started yelling n 2 the phone, 2 please don't hang up, that i'm still here ". click! dead silence & then the dial tone. i'm a handicapped senior citizen, on a fixed income. i had 2 order out twice, 2 feed my 14 yrs. old dog. waltmart is the largest, private employer, on planet earth. translation: u can mistreat, disrespect customers, because you're 2 big 2 fail. wednesday, nothing by email & i still can't reach anyone by phone. never again. i should've ordered on amazon. i've learned my lesson. read more

The staff at this location is often more miss than hit. While shopping in the dairy section, a staff member excused her self to the same section of eggs I was checking out to purchase. She pretty much asked me to move out the way so she can stack eggs. Keep in mind she was down at the orange juice and the egg sections wasn't completely low. My problem with that was.... 1) I was there first so you should wait. 2) I'm a paying customer who is trying to buy goods. I thought that was a bit rude and just seemed like she wasn't focused on customer service at all. I understand they have a job to do, but when is it more of priority to restock a product than allowing a customer to do her shopping. Nonetheless, I didn't sweat it, but I went over to the beauty section and a young guy and girl seem to have the same mindset. I couldn't view the items and grab what I wanted b/c they were maybe doing an inventory or restocking. They saw that me and 2 other people were interested in products in that area, and didn't step aside or even asked if they could help us get a certain product. Horrible Phone Customer Service. I called four times and each time I called I wasn't transferred correctly or no one picked up.

Cashier did not provide item after i purchased it. A store manager was not helpful when I called 1 1/2 hours later and stated I would have to physically go back to the store, wait in the VERY LONG customer service line and work on it with them. This would usually not be a problem, except this would make trip #3 for me to this Walmart in 2 days with a 45+ minute drive each way (plus traffic). All of this started with 1 simple online order pick up. 2 days ago I arrived to the store at 11pm (45 minute drive from home) and learned that it is outside of the online order pick up times and not a single person there has the key to get my items. Feeling annoyed, I spent another 2 hours driving the following day to pick up my energy drinks. During the pick up process, I noticed that there aren't any door or locks that prevented an associate to help me the night prior. JUST LAZINESS? In addition, I ended up spending another $135 physically at the store. When I arrived home, I learned that one of my grocery bags was missing with 2 items... this being one of the two. At this point, I save nothing by purchasing from Walmart rather than my local supermarket. Instead this cost me more in time, gas, money, stress and I'm missing 2 items that total $18. read more

This store sucks. Until tonight, I shopped at the Walmart on Georgia Ave. The service was always horrible. They'd be out of things no supermarket should be out of, like 2% milk. There would be almost no cash registers open, though lines would be seriously long. However, the prices used to be low enough for me to look past it. Now, big supermarket chains have lowered prices and Walmart has raised them considerably on food. As a result, prices at Walmart with its crappy service are 10% to 25% higher than other supermarkets across the board. I just have no reason to put up with Walmart anymore, so I won't be shopping there again. read more

I was skeptical to go to this Walmart, especially the Pharmacy, because of the reviews that I've read. All I needed was to have a prescription transferred from a different location. I called and spoke to the Pharmacist ands was super polite, attentive, and got all the information she needed from me. She answered all of my questions and if she didn't know the answer, she looked it up. The next day I went to pick up my prescription and the store is what I expected of a Walmart in a busy city. It was fairly small and crowded, but I also went around noon on a Saturday. Unlike all other reviews, every single staff member I walked passed greeted me and was polite. The Pharmacy staff was great, even with the man in front of me who asked a million questions dropping his script off. The woman behind the counter answered all of them politely, and let me know she'd be with me as soon as she could. Although, I didn't walk through the whole store, I don't see why this location is getting such bad reviews. read more

I'll admit that I was skeptical. Georgia Avenue. Walmart. Never would have thought of that combination. But guess what? It works! I kept hearing about this illusive Walmart but couldn't picture it being on Georgia. As a matter of fact, because it is not your typical Walmart I passed it several times without even know it was there. It totally blends in with the neighborhood. However on the inside it is one of the better Walmarts I have ever visited. Seriously! There were sales people on the floor! The products were faced and stocked. Everything was in its place, and it wasn't a chaotic scene. I really was surprised that on a Friday afternoon the store wasn't more crowded. There is free indoor parking as well. Somehow I walked out $90 lighter and only had two bags, but I actually found items there that I had been looking for in other places and that would have required me to drive out to Rockville Pike and burn up gas. I will be going back to this Walmart as long as they keep it in order. I know that it is still the honeymoon period, but they should aim to keep their standards high if they want to keep the money in D.C. read more

Visited my first dc walmart today! Coming from rural Kentucky, I have high expectations for low cost, convenience shopping. While not the biggest walmart I've ever been to, this store still has a lot more options to offer at cheaper prices than other stores in dc which I love. It's in a great location. It was a little congested getting into the parking garage, but once in there, there's lots of spots- no ticket or validation necessary! I didn't have a lot to buy today, but like with any walmart, it has a good selection of clothes, electronics, outdoors and home improvement supplies, food, bath and body, and seasonal products. My roommate was curious if they'd have fabric in their craft section but they didn't :-( walmart started phasing that out awhile ago whih were disappointed about walmart!!! :-/ (hopefully they read this) I was also wondering if prices would be slightly higher here than rural ky, but I compared a few items and they seem the same- yay! ... But possibly that's at the expense of better wages for employees :-/ anyway, all in all, I'm excited for this new walmart and will probably come here often! read more

Less than a mile from my home. I order online and pickup at the store. While there, I then take a quick dash thru the food area and, most times, can get everything I need w/o going to Safeway. I'm so turned off by Safeway as, over the past year, it takes forever to checkout. Walmart also has self checkout, and an underground garage. Staff is pleasant and helpful. read more

Walmart: Could you please fire the person in charge of sticking your men's clothing section? For the past 3 visits, I've wanted to buy Fruit of the Loom boxers, size L. Seems like the kind of thing that should never ever go out of stock, seeing as it's a common size of a basic item, and one of the only 2 major brands you carry. And yet, 3 times now, I've gone to do this, and its the same issue... 20 units of XL... 20 units of XXL... 10 units of XXXL. But ZERO units of Med, and ZERO units of LG. What exactly are you waiting for? A Shrek convention to come to town? Whomever is doing you stock is obviously paying no attention at all to the size distribution, and just counting units, allowing popular sizes to get Way picked over, leaving racks full of clothing that only 2% of the population can even wear, let alone choose to buy. Please ask them to pay more attention. Excuse me, but now I've gotta run to Target. read more

So nice to pass a walmart on my way to and from work everyday. Very busy for the grand opening which is expected. Very clean and organized. We were so happy when this store opened in the neighborhood. Shortly afterwards, the customer service deteriorated. I walked around the store for half an hour looking for something and not rep asked if I needed help or if they could help me find what I was looking for. Then when I finally asked for help, she looked at me like I had three heads. I only go there when I need too. There is some dish soap that only Wal Mart offers. Each time I go there the bottles are covered in soap because the tops are screwed on tight. As a result, I'm never getting a completely full bottle. It says a lot about the store when security is increased and there are signs everyone about cameras in the store. They are in need of some real customer service help...but I have a feeling it won't happen or help. read more

I go to this store about once a week and almost always find what I want, EXCEPT the inexpensive jeans I want in my size. I would give it five stars except they almost never have my size, I'll find it about once every ten times in Walmart out of the 60 or so on the shelf. Mainly this review is to compliment the employee Christina who went out of her way to help the last time I was looking and looking. As I hunted through the piles on the shelves she was shelving other clothes in that aisle and when I finished I commented that Walmart almost never had my size. Christina looked through them also and then offered to go in the back and see if there were any in stock. I was surprised and said "thank you". She was gone about 10 minutes so must have done a thorough search before coming back to say she couldn't find any jeans in my size. Then she recommended and showed me other brands but the fit and cut didn't work for me. I had never seen Christina before and asked her if she was new there since no employees had ever gone to that length when I needed help. And she was. On the store itself they could open up more of the cashier stations when lines get more than 8 deep. They seem to have plenty of employees around not on registers. The self service stations line moves fast but only about half of the 8 stations will take and return cash so that limits who will use them. The underground parking lot is big and there are always spots but I don't think the exhaust ventilation was designed correctly when the store is very busy. I got pretty good at holding my breath from my car till getting inside the store. But I've started going late at night when there are few shoppers so I don't run into crowd or car fume issues now. read more

They don't even honor their layaway policies and advertisement price match. Bought 2 carts full of groceries got to the register happy thinking "wow I don't have to go to Safeway or anywhere else (:" little did I know my dreams were about to be crushed minutes later. When asking the cashier she said there is no price match frustrated I left without buying anything. Later visit I talked to a manager who informed me that his presence was only because of the many complaints that they were getting that this location didn't follow policies. During that visit I got a open box of pans I asked if they do a open box priced when asked the cashier said no but if there is anything wrong just bring it it back and they will fix it. When I got home it was missing 2 pans upset and angry I just decided all together to stop visiting Walmart for a while. Also their parking assistants are LAZY!!!!! What do you need 7 people to sit around, do nothing and still get paid for?! There was a cart with snacks in it, looks like these employees get paid to lounge around and hang with their buddies at work. Since this is the case I wouldn't mind working here. read more
