Right there in the middle of McCullough, I did just that! I figured why go to the store when I can support local farmers!?! So, I did just that! Got me 2# of pecans (shucked), 2 jars of spicey okra (mmmm), some tomato preserves, apricot jam, & jalapeno jelly. I got there as they were packing up to head home. They had a ways to go. I'll get there earlier next time. Maybe get some meat. I come from an old cattle ranching family, & he knew my great grandpa's name. He even said "you're from the old families." I smiled & said yup. My grandpa's family set up some of the neighboring towns. So, my love & support of farmers runs deep! Support American Farmers! Then, I moved down the line to the next gentleman & bought a bushel of each of his veggies. $20 got me some delicious tomatoes, sweet & little red potatoes, zucchini (aka courgette), & onions. Gonna eat well! Finally moved over to the last farmers, The Perlata's. I got the last little bits of my veggies & a yummy jar of salsa. Kale, cilantro, bell peppers, yellow squash, green beans, cabbage, & broccoli that I'll be cooking tonight. The two things that were best part about all of this accidental discovery were I needed, & had all this on my list to go get for my shopping at TJ's. I got to meet some farmers, give back to our community, & keep the money local. This was such a great fund for me. Plus, it was a beautiful day. There was also a City of San Antonio employee out there cleaning up the area at the time as well. The park area was clean, but, he was out there doing rounds. The only issue was the sign. Maybe a local company could donate time, funds & supplies to fix it? Or some street art is could create an amazing sign? ‍

I wish San Antonio had more farmer's markets with more produce vendors. I had forgotten about this…read morelocation and used to frequent the parket back in the 90s when it was in a grove of shade trees. Not sure why they moved it to a hot parking lot. They had live music on this visit in June. There were only three vendors, but they had a good selection of local fruits and vegetables. I also saw eggs and grass fed beef, as well as some baked goods. Maybe if we get more people to patronize this market it will grow.

I texted to confirm that they were open on a day their website said they were open and was told…read morethey were closed. They then asked me to place an order, which I did and didn't hear back until a few days later. (Which is fine it was the weekend) but for a website that stresses the fact that they have no prices and are donation only, their "recommended donation" is twice what I already pay for raw milk and what I pay at the farmers market for the other items. I had no plans to short change them and was going to donate what I would normally pay Plus the fee for the glass milk bottles. I'm not comfortable countering with a 'donation' that I can afford when their recommendation is so high. Milk is $14 a gallon but sold in half gallon jugs that are $5 a piece, so that's $24 a gallon for your first purchase. (Bottles are reusable do goes down to $14/gal after that). I get that they run a ministry and it costs money but it feels so underhanded to put that your donation only and splash 'NO PRICES!' across your website only to blind side customers with the highest prices around when we place an order. I cancelled my order and explained that I don't couldn't afford that much and I didn't hear back. Nothing about 'donate what you can afford' which is what the website says, so I'm assuming that they're pretty firm on their 'recommended donation'. If you want to charge that much, list it on your website and justify your prices. Explain why it's worth it. Don't be underhanded about it. I was so excited to learn about what y'all do the and to try your products but I'm so turned off now.

Me and my buddy Ike go to Texas State and I was looking for a place to get my raw milk needs and Seguin seemed to be the closest to San Marcos (26 miles) After being pissed off about getting lost while trying to get to this place, I thought I was going to have to put up with a bunch of religious nuts just by judging by the name. Not being very religious I didn't think I was going to care for "that kind" of experience and just pick up my milk and leave. I ended up staying 2 extra hours to chat with Gina and Denise. These ladies were very soulful, educated and offered stimulating conversation. They brought out some sweet tea and fried chicken for me and Ike (free) They asked us about our heritage and backgrounds and where we came from. We felt very at home and I didn't feel like I was being bombarded about why I wasn't a Christian. They offer tours, horseback riding and want to get to know you. I know I'll be returning for more milk and who knows I'll probably do some volunteer work one of these weekends. They gave us some personalized prayer for us on the way out and left on good mood. They were very friendly and had information on all of the products. I went to the Seguin Farmers market last Saturday, and there was only one booth, This couple on the side of the hwy sells the equivalent of 5 booths. If you need organic vegetables, look for the farmer's stand right across the Chevron on Hwy 78 in Mcqueeney/Seguin.

We walked around The Pullman Market but it was quite busy by 12pm. I saw Beet colored fresh Pasta and would like to try one of their fresh Tagliatelle next time. There was a Lavender vendor, Sourdough Vendor, a few Farmer vendors with fresh fruit and veggies, Kettle Korn vendor, Mushroom vendor I've bought Lion's Mane from before so good to see them, Dog Chews vendor and other vendors. Lots of samples around in the Farmer's Market area that spanned from CIA to the Pullman Market. Street Parking is free for 2-hours and there's all-day parking in the outdoor Pearl lots for $13. The Koehler Garage is free for 30 minutes then 2-5 hours is $10 and another charge for more hours. The Oxbow Garage is less expensive but further away. Check the Pearl Parking rates on their website. There are a lot more shaded areas to sit now.

I stopped at one of the stands spoke to a younger guy and asked him to please find me the sweetest one they have doesn't matter the size. He went and picked the biggest one... meanwhile I was having a chat with the lady at the same stand. I asked her again will that be a sweet one? I guess she felt bad and told the guy that it will be pink inside... she went and picked me another one herself. The one she picked was a winner! One of the most delicious sweetest watermelons I've ever had! So yeah if you go make sure you insist on them picking you a sweet one! Unless you know how to pick it yourself

No need to bring your own bags as the farmer's have plenty of plastic for you. Usually everything gets started at 8am sharp, although I have had to defer to waiting for set up just a few times. Friday is a perfect day to pick up farm fresh produce, what a way to start a weekend or get ready to entertain hungry friends. Look for the yellow wooden sign for the somewhat hidden turn in.
