The man himself designed this course yes you know it this is a Nicklaus design. Much like Breckenridge this was one of the most challenging courses I've played in Colorado. I made the mistake and starting this course out walking it! DO NOT WALK this course if it is your first time on it! The par 72, 7,669 yard course with fewer than 40 bunkers is an enjoyable experience for all who appreciate Colorado Golf. The unique black sand bunkers are a tribute to Trinidad's rich mining heritage. The course is already famous for #16 Intimidation, intimidation, intimidation! This par three is a very short, simple and straightforward, save for the fact there is a tee, a green and NOTHING else in between! If you can manage to not freak out you might actually PAR this hole. ps you gotta try this course Colorado Golfers I promise it won't disappoint!

Course was empty, I guess the word hasn't got out how good this place is. It's in great shape, Tons of fun. Rippling fairways, interesting bunkers, fun strategic opportunities. Front nine hops over the stream several times, back nine climbs a hill then descends. Favorite holes were 8, a par five that doglegs sharp left over the stream. 12 an uphill par four that peaks and descends at the end to the green. 14 par five from elevated tee, super cool green complex. 16 jumps a small pond to neat green. Killer views of surrounding mountains on every hole. Worth traveling here, cool little town of La Veta. Will come again

I dealt with that. I'm dam near a scratch golfer keep in mind. She then proceeds to come back and say I'm not parked correctly and I'm picking up people balls on the course. I she accused me of picking up a yellow ball. I only play white pro v. Not only did she lie she said she didn't say that when later confronted about her lies. I love the course BUT I won't deal with the disrespect of an old women who is power hungry with what little power she has on the course. I paid good money to golf and that's just what we were doing. I'm huge on etiquette and I follow golf rules strictly. That women's needs a new job she has no place on a golf course. I feel sorry for her husband and has to listen to that bs all the time. Where do I even start. We booked a tee time for July 19th, 2025 at 4:10 pm. We saw they had a…read moretournament from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm so we decided a later time would probably be best to avoid any tournament leftovers. How incredibly wrong were we. They literally allowed us to book this tee time without informing us that they had a couples league that would be teeing off in front of us. We had one of the league members give us the suggestion to start on hole 10, great let's do that. We made it through the back nine at about 6 pm. We get to hole one and there is a group teeing off from the couple's league to finish out their last 2 holes. Between them searching for a ball in two fairways for 10+ minutes and their slow pace it took 40 minutes to get through hole one and tee off on hole two. The website also states they are open from dawn till dusk, but doesn't mention carts have to be in by 7 pm. We made it to hole four on the front before the "Marshal" came to inform us the carts are supposed to be in by 7. He gracefully gave us until 7:30 to return them at 7:10 pm. The pro shop staff gave us no information about the course after we informed them we had never played there. No mention of a league about to tee off, no mention of the cart return time literally no help.They also charge the full green and cart fees for someone just riding along in the cart. When we asked the marshal why they allow people to book tee times when they have a league going on, his response was oh no one told us. How do you work on this course and know nothing about what is going on? He also likes to give unnecessary attitude when we question why none of this information was given to us. We were visiting family nearby and decided to spend our afternoon at the course to relax and have a little fun. This course is not the place for that. They should probably block off tee times if they have leagues going on. They should also train their staff with the knowledge of what is going on each day. I'm dumbfounded how a marshal and the pro shop for the course doesn't know they have leagues going on. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Very unprofessional staff and the golf etiquette is non existent.

Everything is in a small bowl, so if your ball bounces/gets hit into the "fringe", the ball gets kicked back on to the fairway. It was a fun design, and very pretty. Seriously though, the driving range, make some signs, put out some buckets, weld metal junk together, build a robot, you need something to hit at in the giant dust bowl. The marking for red, blue, white tees and the signage, brilliant. Bright painted rocks, why doesn't everyone do that!!
