Bought used car from here, from their "Durlstone Cars" side of this business on the same premises - car not fit for purpose, refused to make good. Owner patronising each time went back with concerns from the day after purchase and for weeks later. Even went as far as to say that a missing steering column adjuster which was broken or taken off would only be a big problem to someone like me (i am disabled) and that it's not relevant to most people because its function is to adjust the steering column. Despite an apparent pre-sale service the air con needed regassing, wipers are smearing, a front washer is blocked, windshield rubber is completely detached, rear tyre is right down to the legal limit of wear, a wheel rim is buckled, discs are worn to recommended minimum limit, discs are lipped, and one is damaged, the top and bottom steering housing components were separated and open, a screw for the column is lost, and worst of all it is missing the steering column adjuster which someone broke off, all of which except the AC (the only item I could easily see beforehand myself), I had to unhappily discover myself in the days following purchase. Three trips later and refused to cooperate with major repairs. Had even been told they need a week to prepare car for sale when viewed it so I couldn't drive it away yet hadn't even been valeted - covered in small white hairs and crumbs, but they denied previous owner had pets so something was shedding hair! Had to request immediate clean when collected it. As soon as drove it away without distraction of being accompanied on test drive discovered grinding noise when brake used which prompted me to discover the other problems. Ad stated car is in excellent condition and said it had steering adjustment (not)!! Also said mileage was 35K but it was 36K when I bought it. Needs over £1K repairs. Initially agreed to fix steering issue when they thought they could buy just the housing shroud for £36 despite my saying I knew it needed whole column which the lever is integral to (in fact £550) then ended up not offering to fix anything. Will have to resort to legal means to recover cost for repair or refund. Dreadful experience. MOT, by same garage, interestingly omits advisory about the bent wheel already mentioned on the 2016 MOT as an advisory, assuming that's the same rear driver side wheel my Ford inspection revealed was still damaged! Would definitely not advise to buy a car there and I'd be concerned about the quality of mechanical work too given what I've read on this review site, and since their workshop mechanic said it wasn't worth their while to check out a concerning noise from the brakes the day after I bought it! Paid £4750 for a car which might have been worth that for the year and model had it not been missing a component of the steering column which will cost almost £800 to resolve and not needing all the various other issues sorted out! Not OK. Thank goodness for the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, Trading Standards and review websites like these. Now since had two garages verify thd work needed and dealer is ignoring all formal letters for my demands of repair. Disgusting. I already made it clear I will not accept refund as the whole point of having this car was to have something to drive. I will not sfart from scratch to car hunt, test drive for weeks, hire a car and reinsure, tax and register another car for the sake of one day of repairs. The dealer would love to wash their hands of this with a refund so they can lie on another ad and sell it to another customer concealing the same facts but I'm not making it easy for them when I will then be without any transport!! read more
