Hydraulic fluid began leaking from the supposedly repaired cylinder almost immediately , and after an argument with the repair manager, the some men came over, climbed on the machine and did something, then pronounced it was a waste of their time because nothing was wrong. They claimed that we only saw water dripping, even though we use red dextron fluid which was very easy to spot, definitely not water. Fast forward about 4 months and the $3000 repaired cylinder is spewing fluid again. Now I have to call these arrogant mf's again to argue over something that was well paid to be repaired, but is not fixed. In short, these guys are ill equipped or staffed to undertake major repairs on heavy equipment, and the will not stand behind their work. This is the most unprofessional outfit that I have ever had the misfortune to hire for machinery repairs, either for tractors, lift, mowers etc. I believe that this matter will likely end up in court because I do not intend on wasting my time arguing with these people over their shoddy repair work. Update - June 20- Ended up sending my Z60-34 Genie to Huntsville AL for competent repair; the cylinder man in Huntsville reported that the "gland" seals had been installed backwards by the people who attempted the repair; that these particular seals are tapered on one side and bigger on the pressure side and that the leak would only happen when high pressure is applied to the back side of the cylinder to retract that top cylinder from an extended position. Makes total sense since the cylinder did not leak when being extended; only on being retracted, and not always in short retractions even then. Columbus Machine Works was simply negligent in making the repair, but they would not take responsibility for their mistake. They have a guy named Ivey or I V, or some such, who talks real nice on the phone, but never did what he said about sending repairmen, over and over. Only after repeated calls, talking to another guy who said he was Roy does someone came out, and he called my men liars for reporting the problem. If there was any way to give Columbus Machine Works a negative number of stars, I would do do, because the deserve less than that. They cost me many thousands of dollars with their shoddy work and lack of knowledge, experience or competence. Columbus Machine Works couldn't even repair a push lawn mower or a weed eater, much less a 22,000 lb machine. Thank you Yelp for posting this warning for others to see.
